As I recently posted, I just purchased a new Canon Digital Rebel XT. Now I have a few questions.

1. What should I do with my old Canon camera? It is a Canon EOS Rebel – probably 3 - 4 years old. In excellent condition. Should I keep it? Would I have much use for it if I did keep it? Should I sell it? If so, how much is it worth? It would be the body only since I am keeping all my lenses.

2. What different lens filters should I have? I have a polarization filter right now. That’s the only one I have. What I normally shoot is family shots, indoor and outdoor sports (baseball, swimming, basketball), nature shots, vacation shots.

3. Is it better to have a couple of 1 GB CompactFlash cards or one 2 GB card?

I personally would keep the camera as a backup, just in case something should happen to the digital camera .there are so many used 35mm cameras available, that selling it is iffy, you might get a good price or you might not..

most people would agree that it's better to have several 1 gig cards rather than a 2 gig card, that way if a card goes bad you don't lose all your pictures...

Get a good quality glass UV filter for any lens you have. They cost about $20.00. It's the cheapest form of insurance going. If you have a $1,00.00 lens and it gets whacked on the glass you lose a $20.00 filter instead of a $1,000.00 lense. It won't effect the exposure. It also keeps the glass clean. You would rather clean the filter than the lens glass. If you scratch the filter you can get a new one for a lot less money.

If the cost is the same or real close get two cards. If one goes bad you have the other to fall back on.

As far as getting rid of the camera or not. Can't help you there. I still have all of mine and don't use half of them. Just can't part with them.

I still have my Nikon N70 film camera. I really don't see myself using anymore, but I'm going to keep it as a backup should something happen to my D50. Also film SLR's are very inexpensive right now, so even selling it used probably wont bring in much money.

I would go with 2 or more 1gig card rather than 2 for the same reasons listed above. Also same for the filters; see previous posters.
