Some people really have no boundaries

If I'm not mistaken, Boarding Group #1 is Platinum and they get checked. If someone does buy this and tries to use it, I don't think it will work for them.

This is a new one for sure... smh.
Yep, they will start collecting them now, problem solved.
I check eBay randomly for disney cruise line merchandise, this is a first.
I thought the toiletries were bad.

All DCL would have to do is start hand-writing the sail date on each boarding card when you check in at the port. It would take them about 3 seconds.

I know Disney has people who check EBay to catch current CMs selling CM exclusives and stuff. I would imagine that they look at everything flagged Disney just to make sure.

I could definitely see DCL changing up the color like the Met does their daily admission buttons - you can still order colors in bulk. That way you would be guessing that you bought the right color for your cruise and if you didn’t you would just be out the money. They could also have the terminal agents write the date on the cards, but the colors (which are also randomized so it’s not like “every Monday departure is blue”) would be easier.
This reminds me of the cartoon movie Anastasia when they get on the train they used one color ink and then it turned out to be a different color that day so they had to jump off.

I can't believe someone would pay that much for that. It amazes me what people sell on eBay.

We were given one as a nice surprise by a CM at check-in about a year ago. We are gold, and nobody checked our status, just looked at the boarding card.

If these start popping up, the date idea mentioned by @Deb T. would work nicely. I would have loved it if mine was dated, I kept it as a souvenir.

Not that difficult. Just do an e-bay search for "Disney Cruise".
Not for nothing but the item in question was added to eBay on 4/16/19. It's probably in obscurity land via eBay and likely has been for months now.

It shouldn't be on there, no one should be trying to sell it, on the other hand it's quite a unique very specific thing so my guess is you'd have to do some real digging or very specific search to locate it though other ways listed below are also possible.

Your suggestion to do a search on eBay for "Disney Cruise" yields 7,330 results...that's a lot of digging through to locate this one thing OR you'd have to refine your results heavily OR you have bought something from the seller before OR you found an item the seller had and you went to look for their other things, etc. Either way I think it's a bit more difficult for the average person to find this item. To me it likely would have just sat there and sat there. Don't see any harm though in someone reporting it now though to see if Disney will remove it.

I was curious so looked at E-Bay's policies. The closest I could find is that sellers have to "
agree to promptly refund the purchase price for any ticket which has been deemed by the venue to be counterfeit or unacceptable for gaining entry to an event."

So if anyone is foolish and unscrupulous enough to buy this, and is denied, I guess they get a refund. But still, it seems like E-Bay should allow reporting of such products before they are sold, not just because of the risk to the potential buyer (though I wouldn't feel to bad for them if they tried to cheat and got caught and denied boarding), but because of the risk the ticket WILL be accepted by DCL and create an unfair advantage.

Hope Disney does fix this by collecting the tickets upon use: just like how Disney cracked down on people reselling rider swap passes by moving to a digital swap system.

I can't believe the price to save what, 15-20 minutes?

I don't think DCL will do anything. How many years have these cards looked like that? This is not a big enough problem, nor one that affects their bottom line, to justify the cost of modifying the cards they currently use.

On both our cruises we got boarding group of 3-4, we were on like a jiffy. Now I haven't sailed since 2011, so is it harder now to get a low boarding pass number? I can't even remember how we got those low numbers, maybe by showing up early to the port? I completely forget.

Boarding numbers are tied to the Port Arrival Time you select when you do the online check in, basically.

There are some variations for those people arriving at the port via DCL transfers, and Castaway Club status.

I’m going to venture a guess that the AP knives they are selling were probably NOT purchased in the store. Especially if they’re willing to sell a Boarding Group Card...
Am I in the minority here???.......................it never crossed my mind to take any of the flatware home with me.
