Some people around here need to grow up

Maybe we need a dis time out thread. You start acting like a child and you are limited to one thread. I think it should be "it's a small world" thread. You have to listen over and over to the song and think about your actions.

There are people on here that think they have it all figured it out and that it's always the other sides fault. There is finger pointing and tattale telling and the broad stroke of brush.

These people aren't part of the solution, they are part of the problem. Until we are everyday Americans recongize that we are the people that make this country go up and down, nothing will change. Name calling and childish gestures show nothing but your personality. Grow up and start making a difference. Get out and learn about other Americans and how we can make this country better together. Maybe you'll meet someone different from you that will turn your light bulb on that because someone is exactly like you doesn't mean that the person brings this country down.

I'm not attacking anyone at all in this thread. I hope it's food for thought ir just a pacifier to shut up some of these people that think they are right on both sides.

Well said! :thumbsup2

No kidding!! I have never been to a forum where there are so many people that are so sure that they are right and that their mission in the world is to enlighten others to the truth of their beliefs. Of course everyone's entitled to an opinion, but ramming it down our throats certainly doesn't endear us to you. You in general, I mean; not anyone specific :)

I agree completely!! Thanks for starting this thread, Tina. I was wondering if anyone else felt the same way I did.

Diversity of opinion is not always pretty (I mean, those threads on line jumping/photo pass sharing/Disney mug abuse cross the line at times). :)

I personally give a lot more leeway to hyperbole on the political threads (heck, I even "sling the hash" myself at time). These are interesting times, and there is a lot going on. If there was ever a time to be talking about the issues, it is now. And currently, all issues are viewed in two ways: for or against. There is no interest in compromise from either side. As such, it should be no surprise that the conversation gets loud from time to time.

At least we are talking. It is when the talking ends that things get ugly after all.

Tina, you are right.

I apologize as I know I am part of the "need to grow up" group today :guilty:

I guess the accusee gets as passionate as the accuser and both need a wake up call.

I apologize to my fellow DISers.

Jodi

You are right, I shouldn't have bothered. I don't know why. I guess I'm tired of it all that is constantly going around and around here. I do apologize for anyone that gets offended. Thank you

I agree. I have to take a break from the Community Board often. As long as I can take refuge in the Disney Resort picture threads, I'll be ok.

Sorry - double post!

Feel free to do so; I can't get enough of the look on your daughter's face in the right-hand picture! :rotfl:

OK Tina, how high do I have to count before I can come out and play again?

Two Disney lines come to mind:
"Practically perfect in every way" and
"Listen to your teacher. Repeat after me: I won't grow up, I don't want to go to school. Just to learn to be a parrot, And recite a silly rule."

Like a pp said, almost every board I've seen has pot stirrers, know-it-alls, and people who like to disagree with everyone. It is easy to be perfect on the internet! The majority of what those volatile posters type would never leave their mouthes IRL. That's why I don't get worked up about stuff like that and don't usually add to heated threads. :hippie:

I for one, find it amusing. Seriously, I sit here and I read things that just make my jaw drop and I chuckle. I am amazed at how people can be so full of themselves, judgemental and perfect. The number of perfect people here astounds me. The cruel and stupid things people say to each other also amazes me, but again more often than not it amuses me.

Tina, I think you are right, but IMO it will not change and it certainly is not worth letting it get to you. There will always be know it alls, idiots and people who are just plain ignorant, especially when one can hide behind the anonymity of a board like this.

Count me as another in absolute agreement with this statement. It absolutely amazes me. I seldom come here and almost always avoid the temptation to open political threads. Frankly, some people's partisan stances scare me. I miss the Debate Board:sad1:

I'm bot here a lot, but I read enough to know Tina is one of the most rational posters here. I will assume if she is upset, there is a reason.

I keep waiting for the "I know you are but what am I?" response.

But I DO know it all! I can't just keep all this knowledge to myself. I need to enlighten the rest of you. ;) :lmao:
.

:rotfl2: Sorry I have an odd sense of humor and find sarcasm funny often. :rotfl2:

But I totally agree with what Tina said. I have been saying this for quite some time. I guess there are some people who thrive negativity which can and will start name calling and trouble. Would be nice if we all could get along but with so many different personalities that is impossible.

often it appears that many are talking and few are listening (on either side of the many topics).

Exactly. So why bother? No one is going to change anyone's mind about any issue. And the disrespectful manner that seemingly intelligent people treat each other - well it really has gotten worse and worse over the years. It is sad to me.

Thank you Tina, I appreciate your reaching out to help end the toxic tone that is FAR too present these days.

A peace maker after my own heart!! :thumbsup2

Sometimes there are threads that hit a nerve and I'll write a reply, only to read it, erase it, as I remember it's not 'real life'. :rotfl2:

Many seem to take cyber way too seriously and seem to forget what this Dis board is all about. :guilty:

Ya must have that sassy red lipstick on girl!! :woohoo:

Really? I have no idea what threads you are talking about, because I havent been on much lately, but it seems like you are attacking the people who you feel think they know it all. Why make a thread about it?

I agree. We have to learn to ignore crap in everyday life, and I think ignoring words on a message board would be a lot easier.
