Some Observations from recent trip

I agree that the parks are not as clean as they used to be. The bathrooms were messy, paper towels everywhere. The parks have lost some of their sparkle - Its my opinion that they have cut down on the number of CM's doing maintenance. Last Jan I even noticed several areas in need of painting. I, too, remember the horse dropping guy who followed the horses. What about the giant white vaccuums they used to use on the sidewalks?

I hope that whoever takes over at the helm realizes that the parks are the crowned jewels of Disney, and gives them the TLC they deserve.

Also - what about the animators? (But thats another thread...)

We were actually at Disney World a few weeks ago and I actually thought things had improved since post 9/11. After 9/11, I was there in April '02 and Feb. '03 and I was so disappointed at the lack of cleanliness and as one person posted "sparkle'. When I saw trash on the floors of the monorail and fingerprints all over the windows I knew something was not right. Very seldom did you even see maintenance attendents in the parks and the bathrooms were not clean. Food service was slow. If the 'magic' of Disney was off it was a sad reminder of how the entire world was so 'off' and so 'changed'. 9/11 took quite a toll on Disney attendence so I was able to understand the problems.

I am hopeful that after the positive improvements I saw this past Feb. that Disney World is getting closer to being back to normal. I would have to agree that food service was still quite slow at times. I also did see some improvements in villa condition/housekeeping and customer service at the BCV which I was so glad to see.

I wonder if Disney like many companies is having trouble getting people to work in the food service and maintenance departments?? Just a thought.
