We are Disney fanatics and we go every year and sometimes 2-3 times a year. We often get why do you take your vacations to WDW all the time? We love it. Period. On this June trip, it was DW, DD (18), DD (14, DS, DN (niece) (22) and me (only male and chief driver).
Our three new experiences:
Talking Mickey - arrived Sunday, June 15th and I had to wait in a very long guest services line at MK to pick-up my college daughter's annual pass. The rest of the party rode the railroad train around the park and then got in line to see the Talking Mickey. We thought it was a terrific experience but I could see young and old alike get flabbergasted when Mickey talked to them. My DN who was celebrating her birthday turned the tables on Mickey when he asked her what she was doing for her special day. DN responded that she was going to do shots later on. Insert "Oh Boy That's Swell" in Mickey's voice here.
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train -- we were hoping to get on this ride during soft opening on our trip in April during Spring Break. We had use FASTPASS+ to secure our spot at 2 pm. 120 minute Standby wait. I had read the complaints about this ride but kept them to myself. I am a large person, 6" 3" 260lbs but I had no problem fitting in the seat. I actually refuse to ride a Small World anymore because of the lack off leg space. Overall, we were disappointed because we had built it up so much in our minds. Yes, it is 10X better than Snow White's adventure ride. We will not waste a fastpass to ride again in the future.
Be our Guest Dinner -- made a ADR on the first available day at the 6 month mark and received a 9 pm reservation. We were seated in the scary West Wing. We had an excellent server who loved his job. He could tell my daughter was excited to be there and gave her a copy of the menu to keep. Also, Beast was available for photos in a separate room after our dinner. Beast had to walk into our room and past our table during his break and my daugher actually got him to stop to take a "selfie" on her phone. It was hilarious. All the waiters came up to her to see the picture - they made it seem that this was really special. Everyone loved their meals and desserts and we will make this a regular dinner on future trips (if we can get in).
Anna & Elsa -- my family loved this movie. I thought it was good better than the last couple but not as good as Mermaid, Belle, Alladin, etc but I digress. We saw in April the 300 minute standbye wait at 9:30 am. I have read about the race of hundred to Fantasyland at rope drop. At midnight, we were riding the carousel as the last ride before we walked back to the hotel (BLT) when we noticed the standby wait was only 30 minutes. Into the room, we went and got our pictures taken with the "real" princesses. I say "real" because I have seen them in other Disboard photos and advertising campaigns.
Fastpass + -- In April, we were limited to 3 only. This trip you could get more after your 3 were completed. Often, the third one was not completed until late afternoon and then no good fastpasses were available. We are commando family and will do rope drop and used paper fastpasses all day. The one major thing I do like is having fastpasses for your arrival day.
