Some neighbors just drive me crazy! UPDATE: P3 - PROBLEM SOLVED!

UPDATE -- CAN WATCH: Well, here we are on Friday. The can is still there, and alternating between mine and my next door neighbors yard. I have gotten several phone calls from other neighbors about the cans, and they have all had suggestions on how to deal with it. The best one so far that everyone agrees on: put it upside down over her mailbox. There will be no denying that she will have to deal with it then!

I'm alittle hesitate about being so mean, but everyone else thinks that I have been TOO nice up to this point. She lives across the street, her numbers are on the can, and she sees it blowing in our yards every day. Not to mention the fact that her recycle bin is at the end of our street!!!

I'll let you know if I get up the courage to do it. And if I do, I'll be sure to take a pic. Let the can watch BEGIN!

Awesome, you did turn it into CAN WATCH.

Ok I guess I'm just **tchy I would ring the bell ask if they are her cans and could see please keep them out of my yard and hand it too her.

I think you need to weigh the cans down. And since their trash cans start putting your trash in them.

This just happened to us last week :lmao: It was REALLY windy here in Reno and when the garbage was collected, I wasn't home, so our trash can blew down the street! DH and I searched and searched for it because we still have Christmas trash we need to put in there, so we REALLY needed it back!! It has our address on it, so I figured if someone picked it up, they would notice it wasn't theirs and return it. No such luck, we kept looking for it and I started freaking out because our garbage collectors won't pick up just bags, you have to have your can with trash in it and if you have extra, then they will pick that up. I finally made little signs to put on the mailboxes in our subdivision; instead of "Have you seen our puppy?", ours said "Have you seen our garbage can Toter (we named it specifically for humor purposes on the sign lol), it is cold and snowy outside and we're worried Toter will miss his warm home inside the garage. If you've seen Toter, please return him to his loving family". Wouldn't ya know, "Toter" appeared the next day on our front lawn :rotfl: :rotfl:

We used to have a neighbour - Brenda - who routinely trundled out of her home and opened fire on passers-by with a starter's pistol.

Mad :upsidedow

Oooooooooooooooo, she sounds like my kinda woman! :rotfl: No one actually gets hurt and everyone gets their hearts well-started for the day.:lmao:

Free cans!

I like the mailbox idea. I don't know if you'd be violating some Federal regulation with that though. Our neighbor that doesn't 'care' lets the mail build up in her mailbox for weeks, so the can cover wouldn't get her attention. It would enrage the mail carrier though.....more so than trying to stuff more mail into a crammed box.

OMG - I was so thinking of "Poo Watch 2006" when I read the OP.

I need a life. :rotfl:

Can Watch 2007....count me in....as you can see by my lovely tag I am a proud member of Poo Watch '06!!
I don't think it is being mean to put them at the end of their driveway with something in them to weigh them down so they stay there, making it so they have to deal with them....being lazy is one thing, but when it involves their can's blowing into your yard, all bets are off!!!

Keep us updated and post some pics if you get a chance!!!

Any updates?

wow, this could turn into the can watch (like the thread about some one's pet mess in a bag, remember that thread?). Geesh people, just bundle up and get your cans! :cold:

just realized this is becoming a redundant post, sorry.

Maybe it's her husbands job to take care of the trash and since he's not she's not either. It's a marital standoff. LOL

And, they're probably arguing about it every night!

Seriously, why not just take the can over, knock on the door, and hand it to her? The direct approach simply cannot be ignored. I'd also make the visit at 9:00 p.m.

I loved poo watch and now can watch 2007.....how much fun!! Either that or I really do need a life!!:rotfl2:

O.k., I'm being hopeful here. Maybe they are waiting for the DS to come home to get the cans to the house? :confused3

It's funny you posted this because our neighbors put their garbage out, but not in bags, just in boxes with no covers, sometimes in the trash can with no cover, so it ALWAYS blows into our yard and every week I pick it up. After the wind this week, tons of garbage blew in our yard and I'm fed up with it. I went to her door and asked her to please bag their garbage because I pick it out of our yard every week.

Well, the problem ended not as exciting as we would have hoped. My next door neighbor (the can was in between our 2 houses in the front of the house) was all set to do the "dirty deed" when he saw the ex husband pull up. (They are seperated, but apparently might reconcile, and he's not there all the time.) My neighbor went over to him and handed him the can face to face. All he said to him was "hey, I've been looking for this, where did you find it?" :confused3 :rotfl2:

(Yeah, right. I've seen his car over there since Tuesday, and you can't tell me he didn't see it staring him in the face in the middle of our yards.) :sad2:

He gave some excuse that he's not there much, and thanked him. Left it outside for an hour or so, but I just looked over there and he put it in the garage. I was hoping to get some pics, but it became dark pretty quick, so they would have been hard to see.

Soooo.....for now, Can Watch has come to a close. But stay tuned for Tuesday...our next garbage day. You never know what could happen (again!)! ;)

who knew trash cans could be so exciting?

are you in a deed restricted development?
