i remember a 160 page fight about an emoticon the year i joined. people have always fought about nonsense here, and this was back when dis had a "debate board" and there was always a religion/political/abortion fight going over there.

i guess the thing that annoys me the most is people acting like the fighting is a new thing, it isn't.

I was talking about in general.I can remember quite a few locked threads where people have been bashed for voicing their opinion.

I have not noticed one single locked thread on the teen board recently, but maybe I missed it since I only come on when I have a break in school. Like this week, which is why I have been active lately. I even looked back the five pages (lame I know, but I was looking for the Toy Story 3 preview lol.) and no threads were locked.

So I don't understand how it "used to be peaceful and nice" but there also "used to be locked threads". That is not making sense.

Exactly. People have always found things to fight about.

Even now when religious/political discussion isn't allowed, we're still finding stuff to argue about. Like how to thank a cast member. Seriously? People must be bored...

Well how bout unlocked ones on page 1 and 2. On the CM appreciation someone went and started talking trash about the CP program which isn't really a personal attack but that offended me bc I'm in that program and when people start talking about stuff they don't know about it ticks me off.

But see, you're taking that as a personal attack when it's not. I didn't know you were in the CP and I'm sure most people on that thread didn't know either...I've said it before and I'll say it again, things shouldn't be taken so seriously. Not everyone knows everything about everyone on here and someone might say something that affects you because they simply didn't know...that doesn't constitute a personal attack IMO. I know not everyone can ignore it when someone says something they don't agree with/like, but it's when people take things too seriously and get bent out of shape over it that things escalate.
And that's never going to end, so IMO there's no point in trying.

I haven't worked for the company yet, but I know a lot of people who have/do. They're mostly pleased with their experience.

Disney has strict standards, but they're a business. They want to create a certain atmosphere, and it's the cast members who do it. No company wants a sloppy looking lazy employee.

Just my thoughts, I guess. I didn't get to voice my opinion on the other thread because I popped into to tell people about the GSF cards.

Was. The hiring freeze is over.

There are kids begging to work at Disney for minimum wage, how can they not, as a company, take advantage of that? Also, I doubt there are many places where these kids could get much more than minimum wage. Most of them have basically no experience.

The last time I checked there were over 100 members in the Fall 2010 CP group, and this is 2 months before applications even go out. A lot of them are alum. Obviously Disney is doing something right.
