Sorry to do this but I gotta do it. This thread was made to be intended for getting people to stop arguing. Everything that you typed seemed to be an argument against that. I completely agree that we all need to get along, since we are all here for the same reason. We love Disney.

I don't feel it was an argument because I stated firstly that I was playing devil's advocate. I never said what I stated was my point of view, I stated what was another, different point of view.

I certainly agree that we're all here because we have Disney in common and should stop the fighting, but I must be missing something because I tend not to think that anyone has been personally attacking anyone else

Maybe I just don't take things seriously when I read them, but I find all the "arguing" on here more debate-ish than personal attack-ish. Like Sonya said, everything is relative, and maybe some people take things said on here far too seriously. I know I'm a very sarcastic individual, so perhaps someone has read into my comments more than I had intended? I'm not sure. I take everything with a grain of salt personally.
I dunno, I find that some people get bent out of shape on the opinion-based boards sometimes, but only recently has it gotten slightly out of hand. I hope that doesn't continue and that we can have healthy debates and discussions like we usually do.

And FTR I'm not disagreeing with this thread at all, in fact I definitely agree that we need to try to bite our tongues sometimes and try to get along more. Some people just get testy sometimes, and what are you gonna do...just ignore what you don't like and move on.

I know what you mean. I knew that I was arguing when I wrote that. I'm not denying that. I just said it because that person has seemed to be a cause of a lot of the problems I've seen here recently. Sorry if I made anyone mad.

I usually like to stay out of these things, but feel like maybe I should voice my opinion to try and get things to change here...
When I first joined and came on here a lot, I was kind of accepted by some people. Other people I felt alienated, for lack of better word, because I was new. It was like there were cliques on the board, like I was back in middle school. I made some friends, but left after a quick stay because I felt like certain people were, I guess, dominating the boards and not really accepting or inviting others. It was really a huge turn off to the boards. I floated around still, posting every now and then, mostly reading and lurking. But, I noticed that things were getting intense and almost personal. So I stayed away from posting. I felt like stating my voice now because I guess I feel like now I know I'm not in the minority.
I'm not trying to start trouble, but just feel that constructive criticism can help these boards change and become more friendly.
Basically, I know people are closer friends with some people than others, but I wish that they would be more inviting and not so exclusive. And that the arguing and stuff would stop....

Lol, how did my name get on this thread? I've barely been around lately. Honestly, I only come to see if anything interesting is happening, haha. I personally think everyone is being a little too touchy lately.

Also, I think it actually is the mature people who can 'argue' without getting offended and taking everything personally.

People usually come to the TB to escape real life, so let's not bring the junior high drama here, okay?

And by the way, wdwtraveler, I don't bother with ignore buttons. I like to talk things out. :

I am not going to quit stating my opinion, and I believe everywhere you go their will be controversy. ESPECIALLY over the internet. Yes we all love Disney, but we all also live different lives outside Disney. Some are older, some are younger, everyone was raised differently with different beliefs. Some think everything should be happy with little kittens and rainbows, others like to recognize the cruelty of the world (because yes the world can be cruel.)

Nobody is ever going to "always get along a be friends." Sorry its just not going to happen. Ever. None of these posts are going to change that either.

Everyone voicing their own opinions is fine.It's when people start attacking each other over those opinions that a problem happens.

Personally, I don't really like to get into even the debates. I don't care for debating, and if I think something is going to cause a stir, I don't post. I'm really laid back when I come here and even if someone posts something arguing with my opinion, I just ignore it. (Unless they're asking why I believe this and curious. I'll definately respond, but if I think they're just trying to push my buttons or I don't like how they're approaching me about it, I ignore it.) I'm way too nosey (two different spellings?) for the ignore list and nobody annoys me enough for me to put them on there anyway. lol. I'm the same way in real life too, I stay away from controversy and go with the flow. Sure, this is an opinion board, but it's not hurting anybody if they don't know my stance on something. I like it for others to state theirs and I usually agree with somebody. I don't think it's bad for people to debate and I like reading different opinions, but it's not for me I guess. I don't mind not stating my opinion on something.

I don't think anyone has been attacked though?? Maybe I just missed something. I think things have been misinterpreted, yes. I don't think anyone has specifically "attacked" another for their opinions. They may have debated, stated facts, ect. Not bashed though.

i remember a 160 page fight about an emoticon the year i joined. people have always fought about nonsense here, and this was back when dis had a "debate board" and there was always a religion/political/abortion fight going over there.

i guess the thing that annoys me the most is people acting like the fighting is a new thing, it isn't.
