I actually started college at 17.But I'm 18 now and I'll be 19 for the program next year.

I started college at 16. : It's weird that there are so many of us DISers who graduated HS early, but I meet very few in real life.

oh, i get paid to go to school up here. my hometown did a "hometown scholars" scholarship for anyone with a 3.0 and a 21 act where they got two years (x number of hours) free at MSCC (which had a branch in my town) but i decided to move about an hour away to go to MTSU, since i already has a good bit of gen ed done. and MTSU gave me a lot of money to come up here, so it was well worth it.

it's just a message board. and if someone think they can hurt me or offend me on here is VERY mistaken. As Caitlin said, i too just take everything with a grain of salt. i don't let it bother me.

Someone is always going to be disgruntled about something. Why take it to heart??

Now I will admit, I've said rude things to others, and its usually over some dumb, insensitive comment that someone makes. I also get annoyed when others have 'attitude' and so I get defensive.

Personally, I have no reason to dislike anyone on the boards. I really do like 99% of the people here. And it's not like I hate the other 1%, either I am kind of annoyed by them or just don't really know them.

On a board like this, there is always going to be people with different opinions. I think that everyone has to get over the fact that you can't force someone to believe what you believe. I mean, I will fight for my side of the argument but I'm not going to try to conform you.

I have made a lot of great friends on here and hope to keep making them. I know a lot of people here don't like me, and I'm sorry for whatever I may have done to cause your distaste for me. I am VERY sarcastic, and I think that's something everyone needs to know about me. I am a very dry humored person so I don't type "jkjkjkjk!!LOLOL" after every "rude" joke I make. I usually just expect everyone to know I am kidding, but I guess not everyone does.

Also, I would like to apologize to those of you that I have acted rudely towards. I get in very bad moods and go on the DIS and if someone says something that I annoys me the slightest bit or that I think is kind of weird or dumb I just say the rudest things. If I have done that to you, I am sorry.

Honestly, I can be a very rude person and don't think before I speak (or type). I'm not sure if I can stop this but I will try.

Ok, this is what I'm going to say. I'm only going to say this once. And I hope no one takes it the wrong way because it's not supposed to be that.

First, It's an internet message board. Why is this such a big deal? Honestly, if you think this is drama you should go on the other board I'm on. There's arguments and a hater on there. It gets really bad. The TB is no where near drama-filled. We have opinions. Different opinions. And sometimes (a lot of the time) someone doesn't agree. It's a fact of life. Not everyone will agree. All you can do is state your point of view, back it up if needed and enjoy your life.

Also, I haven't seen any fighting lately. Debates, yes. Arguments, no. Maybe I'm just remembering things how they used to be during the religious/political time but I haven't see anything that looks like fighting to me. Maybe I'm just interpreting it differently.

Which brings me to my final point. It's the internet. You can't tell what someone's tone is. What comes across as sarcastic to me might be offensive to someone else. And yes, there are smilies but not everyone is going to use them. If something comes across as offensive to you, let the poster know and ask if it was meant to be offensive. But don't get all worked up about because honestly, what's the point?


I'm not going to say "let's all just get along" because I'm being realistic and I know not everyone is going to get along and say the world is puppies and rainbows because it's not. The world is a cold, hard cruel place. Always has, always will be. But sometimes you can find a place where you can go and talk with people from everywhere with totally different view points. It can be...enlightening, really.

I really think this thread is getting kind of unneeded. I really just don't understand how people can think everyone can come together and not fight. It's not that we are not "trying to be civil to each other" but I mean I have my own views, and you have yours. If your views offend me, make me angry, ect, I don't sit their and whine about it, I try and prove my point through facts. nbd.

You should see the other forum I am on. The members on their are absolutely brutal. Cussing is allowed which escalates everything, plus every member is probably 16-22. Their are some pretty heated debates. People have called cops/schools/ect to get other members in trouble, and complain about harassment. It is CRAZY. These debates are nothing compared to those......If they saw this thread they would think it was the most hilarious thing ever.

its the internet, people. not everyone is going to share your opinion, and a lot of the time what people say will be construed as an attack or an argument, even if its just a different opinion or debate. and so what if its an argument? if you don't like a paticular discussion going on, don't go to that thread! simple.
i've been here for three years, and i don't think i've ever been in an "argument" with anyone simply because i chose not to. it really isn't that hard to get along with other people.
