Some MK CS restaurants are making you wait to sit down!

I just found this----Pecos Bills, Columbia Harbour House, Cosmic Rays and Pinocchio Village House are having CM's seat you. So you can't have someone save you a table while you get the food, you have to all go and order your food, then the CM seats you. If the restaurant is too full, they make you wait outside until a table opens up. It does say "The controlled access is used only when that day's park attendance warrants.".

This is not new. There is a whole locked thread on it somewhere here if you do a search

Pecos Bills and Columbia Harbour House were doing this in April when we were there. Over the Easter weekend (PACKED PARKS!!!!) we went in at peak lunch time. Once we got our food and passed the fixins bar there was a CM there who took us through to a table immediately. I think people tend to panic when they see any proposed changes ahead, but honestly there is no need to worry. It is really efficient and if there are no tables, there are no tables, whether you want to seat yourself or a CM does it for you. The CM's are in a better position to spot where the available ones are. Also, this causes the tables to turn quicker. Nobody is going to come and boot you out of a table or rush you. Most people eating at CS have opted to do so to avoid wasting too much time at a TS and are as axious as the next person to get moving again, thus generally needing little encouragement to get up and leave when done. Please don't worry about it.

That's strange, we were there in June and we never saw it. And the article I read in the Orlando Sentinel is dated September 24, which made me think they just started this.

Yes, it has just been "officially" published but they were evidently doing a pilot run first. It is only as and when the need arises and I suspect that this was only at selected locations. We only encountered this at the MK and during off-peak times it didn't appear to be in effect so you are quite correct.

We were there last Oct and a couple of the CS places were doing it then. To me it saves me the trouble of trying to find a place to seat the whole family!

I think this is a good thing, but the only concern I have is that my kids will now have to be in line with me while I order. It really isn't a big deal because my kids are 8 and 6 and do stand in line really well, but for those that have very young kids, it may cause a problem....unless there is an area where others can stand with the kiddos.

1) The test/trial for this was last Christmas.
2) It worked well.
3) More people got to eat, with less people standing to find tables.
4) It is a good idea, and I can see it during peak times in the future.

I also think this is a great idea. If someone is saving a table for 15 minutes while an order is being placed that tends to back up the whole process. You will find tables turn over a lot faster with this system. this is one change I am in favor of.

If you order and then there aren't any tables, won't your food get cold while you wait outside for a table? I know some might say if there are no table, their won't be either way, but if I see there are no tables, I wouldn't eat there, whereas if I had a table DW was at I would. I can't see ordering food and not knowing if I will have a place to eat it before it gets cold. I guess I'll just have to do more TS.:woohoo:

they make you wait outside before ordering if there are no seats.

We have had it done at the village Haus in MK & Pecos Bill's

I can see good and bad issues with it.
it can be a pain for parents with little kids to stand in a line
it can be a pain if you have special needs children who can't wait in a line

it can be nice to get a seat :) and not have to balance a tray
while slipping around people to GRAB a seat before them.

It does however take away the fun of standing real close to a table, holding your tray of food, SIGHING LOUDLY, tapping your foot & rolling your eyes while staring hard at the people as they eat .
This (hopefully) makes them eat faster so you can have their seats. :rolleyes1
