Some holiday-time questions...

Hi all -
We (me, my husband and two daughters, 8 and 4), are going to our first MVMCP on Nov. 28th (will be at WDW 11/26-12/1). We ordered our tickets and are just waiting for them to arrive.

Anyway, after reading all the information posted here about this event, I'm really looking forward to it. I'm wondering if it would be worth getting tickets for MVMCP a second time (Nov. 30th).
Would it be worth the expense to go twice? I was thinking we could wait and see - and possibly buy tickets to the 2nd night while we're there - didn't know if they tend to sell out.

Also, we would like to go to Epcot and MGM at night to view the lights, etc. I think the CP sounds wonderful - but I'm wondering if we should skip that event this time. I'm not sure it would be as exciting to my children as it would be for me.

Finally, we are staying at CR for one night then switching over the WL (our FAVORITE) for the other four. (Couldn't get reservations there on the 26th). Is our resort as spectacular as everyone says it is at holiday-time? I already think it is during the rest of the year - just looking for some expert opinions.

Thanks so much for your help and insight - I really appreciate it. Can't wait to see "the world" all decked out!

Two MVMCP'S each year since 1992 we do all the live shows and parade at one then do attractions at the second. To us it is worth the dollars. The CP is a inspiring show with guest narrator reading the the Christmas Story and massed choir singing some hoilday standards it is a awesome show. This said some little ones get bored with show so I would say go and if little ones get ansy, hey just move on to something else. When you you attend Osborne Lights be sure to get the free 3d glasses they hand out it really adds to the experience and the glasses are yours to keep and they work when you get home and look at other holiday lights. We're going to MVMCP on 7th and 9th this year.Have a wonderful vacation you are visiting WDW at a very special time.Plus you are going to have magical lifetime memories of MVMCP.::yes:: :wave2:

We did 2 MNSSHP's last year, and it was worth every penny!

So far only one MVMCP planned this year, we may try to add one when we get there though!!

Thanks for your replies - I really do appreciate your great advice. We have been to WDW many, many times but never when the holiday events/decorations are happening.

To Danny 1649 - I will definitely keep in mind the 3D glasses - didn't read about that one! Too fun! Thanks again!

Early holiday time at WDW is fabulous!! ALL the holiday trimmings without the holiday crowds!!

I'm looking forward to returning during early December and also looking forward to the Osborne lights again this year!

Once you go during this time you'll be hooked...WDW is amazing decked out for the holidays. I also HIGHLY recommend resort hopping at this time. Plan some meals at different resorts so you can stroll around and check out the decorations afterwards!

You will LOVE the decorations at WL. We stay there in late Nov. and also in June and there is no comparison. The resort looks so "plain" when the decorations are not up. Bring your camera.....you will want to take lots of pictures!! We were lucky enough to be staying at WL one year while they were decorating it during the night. Talk about an experience!! Enjoy your stay!!

Ooh, I hadn't really thought about going to TWO parties! That gives me something to think about....
I still can't believe I'm going to Disney at Christmas time!

We are considering 2 parties as well. We are definately going to the 2nd one of the season on November 30th, but now me and my mom are thinking we should hit the first one too!!! Sunday night after Thanksgiving may be really crowded everywhere, and with Magic Kingdom closing at 6, I think that will make the other parks worse that night. So I said.. why fight the crowds.. we can just go to MVMCP that night too!!! I thought about one night for shows/parade/fireworks and the other night for rides/parade/fireworks!!

We're doing MVMCP on 11/28 with our family & grandparents and then on 12/2 with just our 10 and 8 year old. The 2 year old is staying with the grands.

We did our first holidays at WDW last year and really enjoyed it. A couple of comments/suggestions:

1. MVMCP can be overwhelming. There are so many special shows, and they are scheduled such that it is very hard to see them all ... if you pick the incorrect one at a given time, you will have to choose between 2 later... But it was a lot of fun. If you have young kids, be on the lookout for Christmas characters. We found Belle in her red Christmas outfit on Main St - and no one else was getting pictures with her.

2. We loved the CP. Beautiful show. Best thing down there at Christmas.

3. Do take the time to stand at the promenade between FW and WS at Epcot in the evening. They have a wonderful show of lights coordinated with music.

I was thinking about going to the MVMCP twice. I already have tickets for the 16th, but was thinking about getting them for the 17th also - especially now that I heard the Christmas Parade is ONLY going to be shown at MVMCP and not during the day in December. -Stephanie

I agree with the 'overwhelming' comment.. heres why...

I was SO not prepared for our first christmas party in 02!! I think I was very new to the disboards, and didnt do any homework on the party! I knew the party started at 7 and I remember reading to make a PS inside the park so you could either get in early, or not have to leave. Thats all I knew. I made a PS at Tonys Town Square, and timed it so we would be finishing up dinner about 645. I had no idea you could get in the parks early ( like 4!!) I thought everyone had to leave the park at 6, and they were let back in at 7 ( SOOOOO WRONG) So, when we walked out of Tony's, I thought.. wow.. this will be great.. we are in here 15 minutes before everyone else. Well, we went outside and walked into a wall of people already 3 deep and waiting for the first parade. it was PACKED!!!!!! I was just shocked!! I was pretty disgusted that we could barely move around on Main Street. Only because I thought I had planned it so perfect to be there at 6:45. Then the snow started falling. We wanted to get out of Main Street and get away from the crowds. I go to get my camera out, and the battery was dead!!!!!!!!!! UGH!! I go to get the video camera out... Im out of tape ( even though I swore it had tape on it) I tell everyone to wait, that I will run up to the Emporium and get everything I need, and we can head back to the first show that was at 7, and its closed!!!!! They were closed until 7 and I still had 10 minutes to wait. They didnt end up opening until about 5-10 after....grrr... So now I was late for the first thing we were going to do. So thats how the whole night started. people people everywhere, and right off the bat our first planned show we missed. We tried to get our picture taken, but the lines in tomorrowland were sooooooooooo long. We were going to watch the fire works at 915, but the kept malfunctioning.. after about 20 minutes or so of trying to get them to work, they postponed them until 11 pm. we watched the 930 castle show, and when it was over, decided to stake out our parade spot. We spent more time waiting around in front of the castle that night!! We didnt get much accomplished. But we still had a fun time walking around, seeing the sites, and the decorations. The characters were wearing mittens and hats and that was cute. Santa Goofy was there. We had lots of cookies and hot chocolate too!! The snow on main street was just beautiful! Worth the price of the party alone!!! Now whether it was crowded because it was the first party of the year .. I Just dont know. We still may just do 2. One for rides and one for shows, and both to see it snow on main street!!
