Hey everyone,

I'm a solo Disney traveler, mostly because I'm disabled and don't have a strict 9 to 5 job or a family to consider when planning my trips. Most of my friends can't afford to jaunt off to Disney World with me because they a) can't get the time off from work, or b) want to spend their time off from work doing things with their families, or c) simply don't have the finances to choose WDW as a destination. My first solo trip was an accident when the group I was supposed to go with turned out to be less accommodating than expected, but I had a wonderful time by myself anyway, and from then on I've been going solo almost every year.

Normally I stay off-site purely for financial reasons, but this time, I've decided it's probably cheaper to stay at one of Disney's value resorts and avoid the cab fare that staying off-site inevitably requires. Most off-site places do have a bus available, but it's only once a day or twice at best, and you need to be awake at 6am in order to catch the 7am bus that tours five other hotels picking up guests before depositing everybody at the park entrance 30 minutes before opening. Now, I have no problem waking earlier than usual to beat crowds, but it's just NOT WORTH IT having to set my alarm for six in the morning when the park doesn't open until nine, or else face a $25 taxi charge each way. I can't rent a car, unfortunately.

I was wondering if there are any other solo Disney fans who might be interested in splitting a hotel room with me this year. That way we could each pay the price for a value resort but be able to afford one of the nicer moderate priced ones. I'm not asking someone to be my best friend and do everything together with a complete stranger -- just for another person to split a hotel room with to save some costs, each doing whatever we feel like on any particular day in our usual solo manner.

I haven't decided yet when to make the trip so the dates aren't set in stone. I'd like to aim for a slower time of year, so I was thinking between late April and mid May, but I'm open to suggestions. I don't know if I have the patience to wait out the summer and go during autumn!

I'm a single woman, 26 years old, moderately disabled (I have rheumatoid arthritis). I don't smoke and very rarely drink. I'd prefer another lady as my roommate, but we'll see.

If anyone is interested, please send me a private message or email me at chaospearl (at) optonline.net.

I've been thining about this as well, but wondering how to arrange such a thing. Does 1 person book and pay the complete trip? And then the second person pays his/her share to the first person? What if you have the dining plan and you don't want to eat together? Or what about cancelling?
