Hello,

Going solo for the first time in December. Any thoughts on the following for a solo traveler?

Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian
Christmas Party
T-Rex restaurant

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I haven't been to the Christmas Party but I did MNSSHP last Fall & loved it! Perhaps do a bit of planning/research to discover your 3 or 4 must dos and then focus on those. You'll be so busy with hitting the highlights that you won't really notice being solo.

I don't see any difficulties with T-Rex. I was there yrs ago with my niece and thought the food was tasty and the theming great fun. It is loud but that's a given with all the kids & the meteor showers and such. If you are a dinosaur nerd, you'll love it.

Have a great vacation!

I am doing the afternoon tea at the Grand for my first solo trip in August. I have dinner planned at California Grill during Wishes, a character breakfast with Chip and Dale, possibly a night at La Nouba, watching all the shows at the parks etc etc.

I hope you have a wonderful trip!

I've done the Christmas Party solo and had a great time. I love Disney at Christmas - and its probably my favorite time to be a solo vs. traveling as a couple or with family. It's a present to myself! There will be other solos at the party - guarantee. You'll spot some of them. I've got some great character photos from MVMCP.

Afternoon tea doesn't interest me, in general, though the "girls" might do that on a family trip, so I can't comment on that. T-Rex -never been then either - but I'd visit any restaurant solo (well, maybe not Biergarten solo) - so I'd say go for it if it interests you.

I also plan to do the MVMCP solo. How did you plan that trip?

I also plan to do the MVMCP solo. How did you plan that trip?
For planning MVMCP solo - it's just like planning a trip with friends or family EXCEPT that you can't send others to get food while you wait in a long line for a special character meet n greet. For any of the parties (MVMCP/MNSSHP) - you have to pick your priorities. Obviously plan the parade, fireworks, and whatever the special show is at the castle, IMO. Those are what make a party unique. But beyond that - I pick just a couple key meet n greets for me, ride the rides, grab some snacks, and people watch. I usually check out what's on the stage in Tomorrowland, too. I try to plan a 2:30 pm lunch at an MK resort - or a 4 pm dinner time at an MK resort - and then head to the party. If there's no line/short line, I head straight to the firehouse to get the party SOTMK card, then head to Frontierland to buy the party pin to get those tasks over with. Ideally - I have booked a FP+ for 2-3 things between 4-7 and I head off to do those. Though - for the MNSSHP party this past year - I had planned to get in the the line for the Seven Dwarfs line - so that started at like 6 pm. Luckily - there were some nice people in line around me that would chat with me though if you are really shy - I might recommend a book/game on your phone to keep you occupied if you are going to pick a popular long character line. Also - if planning a long wait for a meet n greet or a parade - I recommend heading to the restroom and getting a drink before you start your wait! Though - the one year - the families around me agreed to adopt me and let me run off to the bathroom and then come back in line.

The food at the MVMCP is NOT a big deal - sugar cookies, sliced apples in a bag, and cocoa. While early in the evening they might not give you both a cookie and a bag of sliced apples at the same time - by later in the evening - the CM would likely hand you both if you ask. Definitely plan to eat before 7 pm as most food places are closed after that. You can eat yourself sick on these - so watch your intake or you'll ruin the later part of the evening!

Another key strategy for a party to maximize it - solo or not - is to plan to get in a long ride line at 11:55-11:59. And realize that 12:01 is NOT going to work.

I think you need to plan your attack for a party - or you may feel you got ripped off. I've done MNSSHP three times and MVMCP twice - and the one time I didn't plan out a strategy (my third party because I was cocky and thought I knew what I was doing without pre-planning) - I just didn't get that much in and left feeling like I "overspent" on it.

For T-Rex, just go up to the bar area and find a seat. You can get the full menu and I have always found an open seat without a wait for a table.

All are fine. Personally I wouldn't do T-Rex.

The Christmas party would be my number one. Not only is it special, but you get to be in the park longer. That's bang for your bucks.

We have a T Rex not too far from us. You might consider Rainforest Cafe rather than T Rex - might be more fun and the food seems better (to me).

I did afternoon tea three years ago and loved it! Since then I have done many teas solo. It's relaxing and you will definitely enjoy it!

Ditto on Xmas Party- I had more fun doing that solo than I did when I went with others. I recommend seeing the parade, special shows and getting character pics or just enjoying the rides. The best part of solo is doing what you want to do! I usually eat an early dinner- I like the corn dog nuggets at Casey's...and then concentrate on party only activities during the party with a few rides thrown in when I need a break. I have not been to TRex and seems like somewhere I would prefer to avoid. The tea though, sounds like my cup of tea
