So I have this thought...

We're staying at the Poly in October. Myself, husband, 4 & 5 yo kiddos. During our stay MK has EMH from 11-1am one night. My husband is NOT a night owl by any means, and my kids will probably cash out by 10pm. I'm seriously considering getting everyone back to the room & tucked in and then heading back to the park for a little while solo. I'm not going to be able to hit Space during anytime during our trip, so I thought this could be a good opportunity! What is the MK like at midnight for a solo traveler?

It will be AWESOME! The park really clears out that late at night (posted wait times might seem high but are probably exaggerated). You can hit all the rides you want without dragging others with you. Ride all of the mountains with little wait. If you hit Big Thunder late enough there will be nobody in line and you can sometimes stay on the train for multiple rides. Splash offers a lovely view of the park at night, though if it's cool you might not want to get wet (October is unlikely to be cool though). You're at the Poly so getting there and back will be a snap. Go for it and have a great time!

I enjoy going to the parks in the evening. As a solo visitor you can definitely take advantage of doing what you want, shorter lines and moving through the park at your pace. Enjoy your trip.

I like mk at night. even if the faster rides your after is still longer than you want to wait, there will be a lot of the place that's just empty and you'll have a great time.

There are few experiences better than Space Mountain at midnight after an evening full of drinks at Epcot.

I would do it! I am actually going alone in October (my first solo trip) and am really excited. You can do whatever you want whenever you want to. If you do go alone for those few hours, you may love it so much you may end up going back alone for a whole trip! Not to mention that being there, knowing the parks are still open and not being in them would be torture for me. I'll spend a week there the last week of October and I will probably crash when I get home, because I will spend every possible hour at MK and EPCOT (though most of my time at MK).
:tigger:

Not at midnight, but in 2014, I took my mom on a trip for her retirement. On the day of MNSSHP, she went back to the room for a nap and get refreshed for the evening of the party from about 2-5pm. I was solo in that time and it was great. Want to ride Pirates 3 times in a row? No one to complain about it. Feel like sitting down with a citrus swirl and then people watching for 30 minutes? Not going to bother a soul. SINGLE RIDER LINES!!!

In one word? Amazing.

Late night MK is my most favorite thing at WDW. You can do so much. It's not so hot. Humid still, but not hot.

And while it's fun to share Disney with others, it's also fun to experience it solo. It's so relaxing to just wander as you please without worrying about anyone else.

Do it!

This is nuts, in the last couple of days since I've thought of doing this its become one of the things I am most excited for! Even for only an hour, I think its going to be so cool to just wander about on my own :yay:

How much sleep do you need? How early will the kids wake you the next morning. Even an hour or two solo doesn't rid you of those pesky details. :teleport:

AWEsome. Go and ENJOY!!

Late to this thread but I give your plan two thumbs up! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We have mostly stayed at MK area resorts, DW has often "gone back out" to MK after the kids are in bed. It's her "me" time during the trip without the kids (and me), she can hit the big rides, shop, just relax, do whatever. In July she hit a bunch of of the Photopass photographers and got all sorts of neat magic shots. She loves it!

I though about that, but successfully function on about 5 hours. I'm not a big sleeper. We have breakfast at CRT the following morning at 8. So even if I stay until 12:30-1, back to the room and asleep by 1:30...that's actually more sleep than I'm used to :)

Your wife sounds pretty amazing :)
Thanks for the info, it sounds like she had just the kind of night I'm hoping for!

I'm hoping to do the same thing when we go in a few weeks! I may take dd with me though since she's a night owl like me.
