Solo female - first floor or higher for safety - ASMu

I'm traveling solo for the first time in March. I booked a preferred room at ASMu to be closer to the lobby for safety reasons (although I've never felt unsafe on Disney property). I'm thinking ahead a little to making room requests. Is it smarter to pick a corner ground floor room and avoid stairwells and those dark corridors in the middle or to be on an upper floor? I'm probably completely overthinking this.

Bottom line is it's just a request. I've never felt unsafe at Disney (though I live in NYC, so...)

I'll be there solo in August and have requested third floor just because I don't want people walking above me if I can help it. (And I have a probably irrational fear of a snake getting in under the first floor door. And yes, I know a snake could in theory get to the 3rd floor. I just figure they're like us and want the least amount of work.) I've never found the exterior corridors dark - they're pretty well lit.

I am a female and have stayed solo at all the value resorts from All Stars to Pop to AoA. I have stayed on all floors. I have never felt unsafe. The corridors are open and well lit.

If you request a ground floor room, you won’t be using the elevator or stairwells to access your room. I have never had an issue with either, but I can see where sharing an elevator with a stranger could make someone anxious. The stairwells a little less so since they are open. However with the ground floor room you can have your “key” ready while walking and get into your room quickly.

I'm a female and stayed solo before.
Never felt unsafe and would not base a room request on that.
I prefer higher floor. Tends to have less guests walking by loudly talking, running, screaming etc.

From a city perspective, first floor is the shortest path, so probably the answer to your question. Places with lots of traffic are also safer, but louder.

Upper floors = Stairwells/elevators and narrow closed in corridors

I’d feel safer on the ground floor where it’s more open and you can run through grass/bushes to get away and cause more of a scene if you need to.

I've stayed solo on the ground floor several times...I never had any problems. If you feel safer staying on a higher floor, then you should do that. Don't ruin your trip by fretting . Do what you feel is best for you.

One thing I don’t like is the open hallways so leaving the curtains open is not an option, everyone can see in when they walk by. I’ve stayed at and walked around multiple resorts alone and have always felt safe in the bubble.

Well I will say that I have definitely seen more bugs and those worm things in the bathroom in ground level rooms than upper floors at Pop.

Female solo traveler here. You’re overthinking this. And, if you chose one because it might be “safer” and you don’t get it you’re setting yourself up for mind games on your trip.

Employ your normal safety pre-cautions: lighted pathways and fully lock your door when inside. Decide your room request based on what you want- do you want the convenience of ground floor? Or the lower foot traffic of an upper floor?

I really wouldn't worry about this; especially if you're already booked preferred.

I travel to Disney often with just my young daughter and I've never felt unsafe (honestly it's one of the reasons we go to Disney so much.) I feel very comfortable and safe 24/7. - Not saying nothing bad could ever happen, but as someone who is pretty cautious and concerned about my surroundings/safety...Disney is honestly where I feel safest.

I'm 40 and a solo Disney traveler and echo the above about always feeling very safe on property. I've always randomly been assigned ground floor rooms (Coronado standard rooms) and don't feel like there's a benefit to ground vs higher level. On either level your windows are still the same amount of accessible to others and ground floor let me reach my room quicker (instead of walking up stairs, etc).

No one can tell you how to feel and I completely understand taking precautions to make yourself feel comfortable. But I will tell you that after multiple solo trips to Disney I've always felt very, very safe.

I’ve stayed on first floor in values a couple of times and haven’t heard noise from upstairs. It mainly has come from the adjoining room or outside.

I would request "Calypso/Close to Melody Hall" and go with that.

Being as close to Melody Hall as possible would be my main objective.
