Solo @ Disneyland?

I have never been to Disneyland, or as I call it the mother land before but may have the opportunity later this year. Unfortunately it would be a solo trip. Now a solo trip to WDW is no big deal since I'm very familiar and comfortable with the area but I'm wondering if I should consider my first trip to DL as a solo or would I be better off waiting for a different time when I don't have to go by myself. I'd love to hear from anyone who has been to DL, especially if they were solo trips.

I've been to Disneyland twice. Once with my DH and once solo. It's great solo because everything is so very close and easy to find. You don't need a car if you're staying onsite and if you have decided not to go exploring outside DL. I always find the hardest part of traveling solo is trying to drive and navigate at the same time especially in a place you’ve never been to before.

I splurged on my solo trip and stayed at the beautiful Grand Californian Hotel. It is so fantastic because it's right inside the park. But Paradise Pier was great too but it was a little bit more of a walk back from the park at the end of the day. Don’t know about the Disneyland Hotel or the Good Neighbor hotels.

I took a solo trip to Disneyland in October, and had a good time (I had just lost my dad a week before the trip, so I was a bit emotional). It is definitely different from going to Disney World. I split my stay between the Disneyland Hotel (I had a string of bad luck there), and the Grand California (which I loved, and would highly recommend). For a solo trip, I think I'd try to stay at one of the Disneyland resort, or one of the very close ones. It's a very busy area, and I don't know how comfortable I'd feel walking more than five or ten minutes by myself on Habor Blvd.

I also met up with a couple of locals from the DIS on my trip, and had a great time meeting them. Perhaps you could try to meet up with some locals while you are there.

Went to DL with my sister. That was many moons ago. It was a great trip. I would go by myself in a heartbeat. Go and have a blast!

I think that DL would be very easy to do as a solo trip. I have never gone solo to DL, but I'm taking my Dad and his girlfriend in two weeks and really hoping for some alone time while I am there. We'll be there for three days.

I was sent to California for 2 weeks in December. Since I had never been to any of the Magic Lands...I figured I could not pass up the opportunity. I ended up going 3 times.

I had a 35 min. drive to the park and it was a piece of cake from Ontario, CA. One day I went really early, the other just left the hotel about 8:30 and had smooth sailings.

I met incredible people from all over while I was waiting for the parades and fireworks. The single rider line at California Screamin in DCA let me ride it multiple times with no wait.

If you get the chance...GO! I am being sent back to Cali at the end of January and will most definitely try to get back for a day or 2.

I'm an annual passholder who goes with her boyfriend/friends/anyone who will come along! lol.

I have gone solo multiple times in my life...often on photo taking expeditions.

You'll have a great time.

I suggest either staying at a Disney Hotel or one of the Good Neighbors. www.mousesavers.com usually has good discounts.

-I often get the Hyatt in Garden Grove (really about a mile from the park) from Priceline using www.biddingfortravel.com for under $40 in off season or $60 in high season per night whenever I have to go to a convention in Anaheim. It's not guaranteed, but as long as I follow the bidding rules, I've never had an issue.

I was there May 17-21,2005, but my niece met me for a couple of days so I wasn't by myself for the entire trip.
I would do it again I had a character breakfast in which I think I was the only adult dining alone that morning wearing a "tiara" (hope I spelled that right). The CM's were great! I also walked around and looked at the 3 main hotels, Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian, & Paradise Pier. I stayed at the Carousel Inn, which was within walking distance-approximatly 1 block.
The day I got there was not bad for crowds, nor the following morning, but the afternoon of the 18th schools must have been let out early because it was packed then until I left on the 21st. I know the one night they were keeping California Adventure open longer/later for a school party.
One afternoon as I was walking back to my hotel I lost my digital camera case which had my camera and vouchers in it. I went back and checked at Guest Relations and some nice soul had turned it in. What a relief that was!
As you probably already know DL is just a smaller version of WDW. If you are comfortable going solo to WDW I don't see you having any trouble doing the same at DL.

Last July I took a solo trip to DL, and like you, I'd never been to DL before. Like others have said, it's much smaller and easy to get around. The only problem was that I didn't know where the restrooms were. I'm used to knowing where the nearest restroom is wherever I am in the park, and somehow not knowing bothered me. But other than that, going solo was fine (just wish I hadn't chosen such a crowded time).

I go to Disneyland solo on an almost weekly basis, but then again I live about fifteen minutes away. I think you should go! I would stay onsite if you can swing it. If you do decide to go and you have any questions feel free to ask!

I went solo last August, it was my b-day gift to myself. I hadn't been since 1976 and was anxious to go back. I loved it. There is such an intimacy about the DL park, I loved being able to walk around and really take the time to look at things. Also, they have some great single rider lines. That along with fast pass, I rarely waited for anything. Space Mountion rocks there too, I wish WDW would do the same. I stayed at Candy Cane Inn, they have a great free breakfast, free shuttle too. It is an easy walk too, so if you just miss the shuttle (every half hour) it's no big deal. It was also very clean and the staff is friendly.
