Tusker House, breakfast, 05.03.08
On my Animal Kingdom day, I decided to do an early Tusker House breakfast, to be done in time for park opening. After a late night at the P&P Party, it was a bit tough getting up, but I did it, and was at the bus stop by 7am, and waited for a bus until 7:35! But it was okay, got there in plenty of time for my 8:05am ADR.
On the way in, they take your picture in front of some African themed background, at least, that's what I think it's supposed to be. I didn't buy the picture, but as you know if you've read my trip report, I'm a big fan of taking a picture of a picture
Oh, and I noticed in my pics, I did have them take the pic w/my camera too!
Thrilling, I know. Get to the good stuff already! The food!
I was seated in a room off to the side, and was told to go ahead and start on the buffet, as the characters would start coming around in a little while. So off I went, for my first trip.
Here we have some sort of omelet, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and a Krispy Kreme donut. I am a huge fan of sweet potatoes, and these were really good. I don't remember much about the omelet, but I did enjoy the regular potatoes, too. The KK donut I only got because I wanted a bite, which I had, then left the rest.
Next plate was Mickey waffle, bread pudding w/vanilla sauce, chocolate/apricot (i think!) bread, pineapple, and grapes. The Mickey waffle was good as usual. The bread pudding was delish! Guess we can tell I like my sweets at breakfast, now can't we?? The bread was dry, so I only had a bite. And fruit is fruit. But it was fresh, which was good.
Then who do I see, but Donald Duck himself!
I saw Mickey was on his way, but my waiter assured me I had enough time to make another quick trip to the buffet. So off I went!
More bread pudding, cottage cheese w/pineapple, Mickey waffle, and more of the omelet. So, I guess I liked the omelet, seeing as I got more of it! But I honestly don't remember. Nothing else really exciting on this plate, as I already told you about the delish bread pudding!
Then it was time for the characters, who came pretty much one after the other, which was nice for time purposes.
Mickey
Daisy
Goofy
And since it was noted on my ADR that I was celebrating my b'day, I received a cupcake. Didn't eat any of it, but I think it was bigger than the one I had gotten at the Crystal Palace and Akershus. Another nice vacationer took my pic as I blew out the candle.
And here's the cupcake up close
Blue is my favorite color, so I enjoyed that fact, even though, like I said, I didn't even try a bite!
At this b'fast, I sat next to a couple who was also from the DIS. So, notnothin and wife, hi! if you're reading this! They were awesome, took some pics for me, and were just really nice "tablemates".
On the way out, I snagged a cinnamon raisin bagel, cream cheesed it, and threw it in a ziploc that I had with me (see, those ziplocs come in handy! carry them around!). Also picked up a banana. Sorry, didn't take pics of those. And cause I didn't have enough food on the Deluxe Plan...right? Hehe. Well, I actually didn't have a lunch planned, but a late dinner at a 2TS place, so I was planning for that...but I changed that around anyway!
I was done w/breakfast and out at "rope drop" by 8:45am. And the CM's told us they wouldn't drop the rope till the crowd from the front arrived, but they did end up giving us a bit of a head start, which was nice. I know this is about the food, but figured I'd let you know about that anyway, in case people make this ressie hoping to beat rope drop. It was perfect to grab a FP for Safari, then ride Safari. Don't know how it would work out for you if you planned to hit Everest first, which I normally would if I was with others, but since I was by myself, I knew I'd just use the single rider line.
Anyway, sorry about that bit of a tangent! The food was good for breakfast. And the characters were good too. So go to Tusker House for early breakfast. It's good stuff.
next up: lunch @ Yak and Yeti
