Are there any of you out there insane enough to camp at
Fort Wilderness solo....or am I the only one? I travel to Florida about one week out of each month on business and recently purchased my first Annual Pass to WDW (I always wanted one!).

Anyway, I'm going to start dragging my tent along with me and hang out at the 'World' on the weekends before and/or after the work week. I've always loved camping and Fort Wilderness seems like a safe place, that a person could camp alone without any real problems.

Besides, I'll be at the parks all day. Why spend a ton of money for a hotel room when you get all the WDW benefits for much less by camping.

I've tent camped at the Fort twice now as a solo. The last time being at the end of May for 9 nights. I love just hanging out, it's such a relaxing atmosphere.

Did you buy that tent at Wal-Mart? :goodvibes

I LOVE FORT WILDERNESS! That's the only place we stay and we go every other month.

Be sure to do the campfire sing along at least once. And catch a movie.

Also, there is a camping at the fort board on here. Everyone on it is wonderful and very friendly.

Yes, but do you ever see anyone camping "solo"? Maybe I'll run into Michelle sometime when I'm there!

I have checked out the campers forum. The people do seem nice.

Well, the 'camping solo' thing isn't important. I'm just tickled to find this forum. I mean, I thought I was a little nuts to be so willing to attend an amusement park by myself (over and over again). But WDW is actually very, very 'solo-friendly' with their Single Rider lines and everything.

Disney is a wonderful place for solo travel. I loved walking around at my pace, doing what I wanted, when I wanted. CM's and most other people around me (in line and such) were always willing to talk if I got lonely. In my tent I never felt unsafe. The day I checked in I met several of my loop neighbors and they were all wonderful. They saw that I was alone and actually looked out for me. If they hadn't seen me in awhile they would leave a note asking me to check in with them when I got a chance. My last trip was just very wonderful.

I solo-tentcamp a lot, but never have at fw. I would in a heartbeat though as it is probably the nicest campground I've ever seen! :thumbsup2
