Generally, Amazon Services first settles your account 21 days after you register with Seller Central. Subsequently, the settlement process repeats every 7 days. Each automatic weekly disbursement will reflect the net proceeds for orders you confirmed as shipped between 14 and 21 days prior to the disbursement date.

That said...if the items were sold and you got the money, doesn't seem like a never again situation.

We sold some comic books through a company called isolditonebay dot com, a local one here that SAID they were EXPERTS on bundling the comic books to sell them at the best price, but they lied and lied and lied some more. They sold the books for a pittance (this was several years ago, NOT after the economy went floopy), charged the EARTH as fees, and then their check bounced. Got another check (including the fees for the bounced check we were hit with) and it bounced. Got ANOTHER check including the further fees, and went to their exact, local, bank, sat down with a manager, explained the situation, and had the check cashed right then and there (no fees as the manager could see that there were problems).

THAT is a "never again" situation. Not the one you are in, IMO.


Contact them, see where the problem was.

From the Seller Account instructions:

Then it's three to five business days before the ACH payment arrives in your bank account. Eight weeks for payment for your first sale sounds about right. I'm sorry you didn't understand how long it would take. My son has sold quite a few books on Amazon and is happy with the service.

Did you look at Ebay and see how much they would have sold for there? I dunno..I guess I'm missing something but it seems like Amazon's fee structure is quite a bit higher than Ebay's, plus on Ebay I deal directly with the buyer and get paid right away.

It was a mistake to use Amazon, that's for sure. Just my experience and an . fyi as I never thought it would be weeksssssss. And I think they took almost $10 on a $42 sale. I shipped it the day I was told to.

I'm confused. I sell a lot on Amazon, and it's my understanding you have to ship within two days of the order being placed - you don't get to hold up the shipping til you get your money. Am I misunderstanding what you said about the ship dates?

I know that for new toy/electronics sellers, Amazon does hold the funds longer than they do for other categories.

$10 on $42 sounds about right. (I mean, par for the course.)

EBay is definitely more profitable for sellers.

I sell textbooks all the time on Amazon and have never had a problem. The first sale they did hold the money for a few weeks. I think that they want to be sure to give the buyer a chance to complain. After that, I've never had a problem. The deposit goes right into my checking account and not a paypal account.

I don't know what the Ebay fees are but I like being able to set a price and be done with it. Some of the books I've sold have actually been money makers for me. I usually buy them on Ebay or Half.com and sell on Amazon because Amazon is generally a higher price.

What a PP said. If it's the first time you've sold, they hold it for a while to make sure your buyers are happy. After that, you can ask for a disbursment almost right away. I love selling on Amazon, and made a couple hundred dollars last year selling stuff that had been packed away in a closet.

Surely you read through the info to know how much would be taken in fees? And since it wasn't an auction you knew what it would be sold for (unlike our situation where we did NOT know what the items would be sold for, and how poorly they would be bundled).


An FYI is only as helpful as the proper information given, and you're not giving much. IMO.

Hmmmm. fyi is the fees were more than 20% to sell an item, 8 weeks to get paid. Guess that's not an fyi guys. LOL, who knew? But if bumber thinks those fees are fair.................... well then GOOD FOR bumber!
