We just bought the cutest solar mickey light from Kmart (of all places!). Just thought I would share this for those who (like us) maybe haven't had the chance to make the mickey lamp post. We plan on hanging it from a shepard's hook until we get a chance to make the lamp post. Wish I could post a pic from my iPhone.

Hung mine outside and it rained. Water leaked in and now the solar light doesn't work. Don't know how you would keep it out of the rain but in the sun to charge???

Maybe it isn't sealed good? Maybe if someone was handy enough they could seal the edges better.....I'll see into that

Also when you pick it up by the ears be careful the glass ball comes off. So we had to reseal that part. I believe the water got in around the solar cell and switch.

I got one of these as well for mother's Day. Came home from work and the red ball had came loose and shattered. We were able to keep the Ears. Mine actually broke at the rim. I am going to try to get an acrylic ball to replace it from Lowe's/Home Depot.

They also have a cute Mickey Lantern too.

Those who have had problems with it, should I bother buying it? Do you think it was worth the money? We are heading to the Fort in a month and I thought it would be cute to have hanging on our awning but after reading what you have written about it I am seriously wondering if it is worth the money.

These glass solar balls are very thick and heavy. That can't be hung just anywhere. Even with the solar light not working it is still Mickey.

I would still buy it even though I had the problems with mine. My suggestion would be to buy a hook the hangs a birdhouse, make it shorter, and hang close to the ground. If we would have hung in our flower bed on one of these hooks, I think the globe would have survived. I would not suggest hanging from the awning. Too far from the ground and I wouldn't trust it with the Florida winds. A sudden storm would come and it probably wouldn't make it. The light is not that bright, but I still loved mine anyway. It is all about the Mouse!!!
