softball or the school play?

the "I wish I had this kind of problem" scenario:

dd is in 7th grade, and her extracurricular activity at school this fall was cheerleading. the season is over now, and she's contemplating her spring activity.

last year she was in the school play as a dancer (she's been taking dance since she was 5). if she auditions for the show again this year she'll likely be a dancer, maybe have a few lines or a solo in one of the songs.

but she's also expressed an interest in trying out for the softball team. she's a fairly good athlete and would probably make the 7th grade team.

she wouldn't be able to do both -- softball practice conflicts with the rehearsal schedule.

decisions, decisions. either way I'm sure she'll have fun.

Good luck. I would tend to favor the play but each child is different and it is up to them to make the decision.

I think it's neat that you're daughter has such varied interests and is so talented. I couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time when I was her age (still can't). I've always been so shy, and would've loved to have been in plays and musicals when I was in school, but was just too afraid to even try out. (Saw Barishnikov{sp.?}dance at the Met when I was 14 and was just in awe--and not just of his athletic ability! Woo Hoo! What a man)! It might be interesting for her to give softball a try--if she decides it's not something she's not really into, she can always go back to theatre next semester. I hope she has fun whatever she decides!
