I went to Target to look around for some cruise nick-nacks. I saw some soft sided coolers and got to wondering. What size has worked well for you? I saw one, the size of a normal large cooler, and one that was 1/2 that size with an extension handle and wheels. Like a small suit case. Which one did you take and how did it fit in the room? Thanks in advance for your input!

I also went to Target a few days ago, and just couldn't find anything I liked. So here's what I'm going to do: DCL has a "DCL Excursion Cooler" on their website that you can buy & have delivered to your cabin. You have up until 5 days prior to the cruise to purchase it. If memory serves, it's dimensions are 18x12x12, which I think is just about perfect (not to mention it has the DCL logo on it!). It's $29 or so.

I bought ours at Sam's Club last spring but I saw them there last week, too. It's the kind with wheels and a handle, like a small suitcase. I was great to have on the ship and I use it constantly on land. Our room attendant kept it iced for us and it never leaked.

We also got ours at Sams with the handle and wheels. It worked great. My DH is a Diet Pepsi fanatic and we took a case on board for the 14 night trip through the Panama Canal. He had 3 people stop him and offer to buy a can from him.

Just bought one last week at costco. Holds 54 cans, has the handle and a retractable bottom with wheels and a ret. handle to pull it, pluss a shoulder strap w/pad. It was $25. Walmart has one for $20 but it only holds 32 cans, but almost the same.

We got ours from Costco - has wheels, extension handle and it collapses into flat type bag. I can't telll you how many times I've used it for non-cruise activities too!!! That handle and those wheels make life very easy!

LOL! DH & I made it through 2 different 3nt cruises without any Mt Dew or Pepesi BUT, I'm pretty sure that neither one of us wants to try to make it htrough the 10nt without any! LOL! Neither one of us will drink Coke so that was a long time without any caffine. :rotfl:
I think for this cruise it will be worth transporting the cooler!

I have a question.....we took a soft sided cooler on board so that we could take lunch off the ship to the beaches we visited, like Rum Pointe. We called Room service and ordered the sandwiches and then they asked the dreaded question..."Are you planning on taking this food ashore with you????"

Well, I did not know if they were asking so they could wrap the food for us or if they were asking because it was against local rules to take food into the community?????

Does anyone know?? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Maybe this is obvious, but why would someone need to bring a cooler onboard? Is it only if you have specific dietary needs or preferences?

We have 3 rolling coolers. 2 are from the Disney Catalog a few years ago when they were 1/2 price. 1 was bought at the A&P supermarket for 19.99. They are perfect for rolling your beers right on the ship :thumbsup2 and they fold up flat and fit right in your suitcase when you are finished with it. The handle is retractable and we have used this for the beach and many other activities.

We actually only bring 1 of these on vacation with us...not all 3 :teeth:

I have a large wheeled cooler, also. I keep it in my car and when I go shopping on weekends, I put a couple of ice packs in it. I go to a Farmer's Market-type store where I buy produce and milk. I put the perishables in the cooler then go to the regular grocery store.

It's a great idea to take it on the cruise to keep a few cold drinks handy in the room. Milk for DD4 and soda for me and DH.

This is a great question. I am interested in knowing the answer as well. We had planned on doing this very thing. Does anyone know?

:confused3 Me no find a cooler tote there? :confused3

I don't think the Disney Shopping site has them anymore. I just looked and can't find it. I bought ours last April for 1/2 price as well. I love it! We use it all the time. It's such a great item....I wonder why they stopped carrying it :confused3

I don't see it on the Disney cruise site eather anymore. It used to be a black excursion cooler with the DCL logo. Now there only seems to be the Duffle bag and toiletry bag. check e-bay maybe for the disney cooler.

why does dcl say no coolers allowed on board, the one i just brought looks like a carry on, but i wonder, will they give people a hard time about it.
