Soft lunch boxes lined with lead?

Hmm, I just bought DD a new lunchbox from TDS, I'll have to check it out.
Thanks.

Send all your lead lined containers to me. - Lex Luthor

How long before we ban lead from the planet because we have to save the children.

Wow, this surprises me.

You do know that lead poisoning is a big problem, especially for inner city children, right? Lead poisoning has long-term, biological effects on children. Just Google it.

Okay, I'm fine. Both of DS10 snack containers are lined in all white plastic.

Poor old brown paper bag, may now be good for something!

"CPSC staff has tested samples of children's lunch boxes for accessible lead and found no instances of hazardous levels. The staff tested the inside and outside of each lunch box and the preliminary results were consistently below one microgram (one millionth of a gram) of lead. This is an extremely low level of lead and would not present a health hazard to children."

I would let kids drink diet soda as well despite the warnings that it causes cancer in lab rats.

If people want to throw away perfectly good bags I certainly can't stop them.

Oh please, the CPSC also found Teflon pans made with Dupont materials as being safe for people to use. They have been proven otherwise and are not safe!

I will not debate... People, do your research. :wizard:

I wish I had read this thread before I bought DD lunchbox this week. I bought it at Walmart, didn't look at it too carefully, and lo and behold, when I got it home and looked at it, it actually had a WARNING label that said, and I quote..."WARNING: This product contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm." Then you turn the tag over and it says "Representitve samples of this product have been tested for accessible lead according to the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commision staff procdure and found to comply with their guidelines"

Ok, so does that mean "yes there are harmful things in the product, but not enough to fail the Product Safety Comission's tests? Why on earth would you manufacture a CHILD'S product with harmful materials anyway??? AND SHAME on Walmart for selling this product!

and, NO I don't let my kids drink diet soda! :sad2:

Interesting comment. My kids have never had a diet drink.

The thing about lead poisoning, if I understand it correctly, is that...it builds up. They get a little from this and a little from that. So great, the amount in the lunch boxes is minimal, but add it to the lead they may get from elsewhere...and it adds up. Its the total exposure, that to me would be of concern.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but what the heck!
I know at my kids school, all they kids put their lunch bags in one big container in the morning. So, if other lunch bags have lead, can it affect my kids lunch still?
Also someone earlier mentioned the plastic baggies. Are those bad too?! I have used those all of my life!

Fantastic. I have two soft boxes. One is silver-lined, one is white. I'm needing to buy a new one (or maybe 3 new ones now). I'm looking at one in LL Bean. It says "foam insulation". Do you think that means "no lead"?

I contacted LL Bean through their customer service live chat, and their lunchboxes are lead free.
