Anyone stayed here recently?

Haven't stayed there for about 3 years (when it was still a Meridien).

Thanks,
Boo

We stayed there a few months ago and it was much nicer than the Hilton which was really rather dirty and run down. It's only a couple of minutes further away so a much better option I think.

Thanks, useful to know.

We are flying BA (North Terminal) anyway - so is actually more convenient AND cheaper than the Hilton :)

We last stayed here in November last year when it was a Sofitel, and even though they were undergoing quite a lot of updating works, it was still an excellent hotel and remains my favourite Gatwick place to stay. We have also booked for this November.

We stayed ther in April, and it is quite nice. Certainly a good way to start the holiday.

Staying there in August, glad about the good reviews :goodvibes

Stayed in December, 2004 when it was still Le Meridien, and again in April this year. Our room hadn't had the refurb treatment, but it was OK, and there's a better selection of restaurants there now.

Wouldn't pay the prices they want, though - we book with airmiles.

Thanks for the replies - sounds ok then.

The rate I am looking at is £99 for the night (not cheap, but a lot of other hotels in the area seem to be in the £70/£80/£100+ mark). Can get 19 days parking at the NCP Flightpath (the North Terminal Car Park) for £60. So that is about £160 for the both - not bad going.

I think that sounds very reasonable indeed if you choose to park. We always get a chauffeur car to and from the airport so it costs us loads more, but we don't feel safe to drive after an overnight flight. £99 is a great price, we've only ever paid that little when on a P&O flight.

I have seen a few people mention that they have booked Sofitel through Airmiles - why does it never come up as an option when I look on the airmiles site :confused3

£99 is acceptable. Their rack rate is twice that.

£99 is a non-refundable, non-changeable rate. I would guess that the rack rate probably is totally flexible.

The £60 parking rate is changeable - so that is exceedingly good...

We booked our April stay when it was still Le Meridien, albeit that it was Sofitel by the time we stayed there. Maybe Sofitel isn't participating.

Ah, that might explain it Deb. Thanks :)
