I have just seen a competition on Facebook about Sofia and jake coming to DLP any one else heard about this? This could be our deciding factor if we go in 2 weeks time :lmao:

looks like a one time event starting september 13th.

So far there is no news or even rumor of Jake and Sofia coming to DLP on a regular basis.
But I would assume that, if the costumes are there, they might use them in the future (or not ...)
So far there are not even plans to upgrade Playhouse Disney Live on Stage to Disney Junior Live on Stage, let alone see Jake, and even more so see Doc and Sofia.

Let's hope someone has better news

Ah this is what I thought it would be a one time event :(

Playhouse Disney will be getting a makeover, was supposed to happen this year but I'm thinking it will probably be next year now.

They can't use Jake etc until it's been changed over to Disney Junior. So even if this is a one time only event it doesn't rule them out from not appearing again ;-)

There was a thread on here that there will be no updates/upgrades to DLP for a few years now

Not quite. Just because the WDC have said they are not investing anymore into DLP, it doesn't mean no other funding non stop. People write what they want to write on here which can sometimes be a different version from actual fact i.e their interpretation. I certainly would not say that the parent company rather than WDC will not invest in the future, its more like they are being left to their own devices again. To me, if they wasn't to do anything the park quite simply, would close due to no guest attendance? I'd hate that as WDW is a complete no go for me :-/

That article stated no funding after Ratatouille, Playhouse Disney is supposed to get a make over before that. They will be upgrading this attraction to stay in line with the US.

Yup, we have a good year yet - lets hope they get done ASAP, though I'm still hoping for miracles with some more entertainment and shows :)

The only upgrade that was *internally* scheduled, was a name change, from Playhouse Disney live on Stage, to Disney Junior live on stage.
Updating the name, only.
Upgrading the content to reflect the US show was never on the table in the first place.

But that doesn't make sense to change the name when 2/3rds of these characters aren't even in Disney Junior. Why change the name when its got jack to do with the show? False advertising.

You ask a very legitimate and smart question.

I don't want to spoil anyone's fun with inside stuff, but when you say "it doesn't make sense", this bit of sentence only sums up pretty well the whole decision making process of the last few years at DLP.

you're right, this absolutely doesn't make sense. But this nonsense is just the tip of a very big nonsense iceberg.

why change the name ? well ... because that's basically the only thing that WDS can do to keep the attraction up to date (and even that, there is no money to do ...)

so it stays ...

EDIT : I forgot to add that Manny, Little Einsteins and Pooh and friends are still aired on the french 24/7 disney junior channel. They're not as big as Doc, Sofia and Jake, but they are still here at odd times.

This is actually so true. A lot of the changes over the last few years have left me saying "It doesn't make sense" - but then I guess someone, somewhere must know what they're doing, right? :rotfl:

I think if they're going to keep the same show then they should keep the same name. My DD doesn't remember when it used to be 'Playhouse Disney' so to her this is just a name of a show at DLP. We also still get Handy Manny & Little Einsteins on Disney Jr occasionally, but my friend's tigger & pooh hasn't been on for agessss!

If you change it to Disney Jr, kids will be expecting to see the characters they know and love.. e.g. Jake, Sofia, Ozo, etc...

Handy Manny was on regularly to very recently. but most the characters at play house Disney are not relevant anymore. my little one would not know them.

Well unless you can quote us your source on this, then I beg to differ.

I also want to add those who win this competition are in for a treat!! It sounds amazing what they have planned!

I think you can enter via the Sofia magazine too!

source is hinted in my original post, watch the *s enough is said.

The update included a name change, and a new introduction music (to reflect the name change).

It was postponed several times and was last rescheduled for the beginning of the summer 2013

Internally is not a direct source.

I will stick with what I got told, direct from the mouth of Kat one of the shows directors.

for the sake of all our kids, impatiently waiting for their fav characters to appear on that show, I sure pray that you're right.

First stage of Playhouse Disney rebrand to Disney Junior has been announced. (source @insidedlparis) You will be able to meet Jake and Sofia in the pre-show area after the 29th September.

How exciting!!! Can't wait for stage 2 when the whole show gets changed!
