Is that what you call them? The things you buy to cover an old sofa?

We have a VERY well made sofa in the rec room thats still in good condition but the fabric is worn in a couple places.

So where do you buy these things (slip covers?) and do they look okay? And whats a good price for them?

Also, where can you buy new (maybe not matching though) arm covers? We have a love seat in the rec room that just needs those (arm covers or whatever they're called)

I bought from Sure Fit before - they make slip covers for various sized sofas, and even had covers for t-cushions, which we had. What we got was serviceable for our purpose- we had a cheap, cruddy, dog chewed sofa that we needed to cover while we had out house on the market. It looked good enough, although it didn't fit perfectly.

That being said, if your sofa is in good shape, and is a good quality sofa, you should think about getting it reupholstered... That could basically double the life of your sofa. I work for Calico Corners, and I've seen before & after pictures of some reupholstered furniture, and it's amazing how it renews the furniture piece! (Not to mention you can update it with a larger selection of fabrics to match your decor.)

You can also have a custom slipcover made by an upholsterer. This will look indistinguishable from upholstery except in one way; there will be a zipper straight down the center of the sofa back. (You *can* have two zippers placed to run down the corners, but that's pricier.) The advantage to this if you have young children is that if you choose a washable fabric, you'll be able to "wash" your sofa -- just take it off and wash it (line dry, so it won't shrink.)

An over-the-counter slipcover for a 7' sofa will usually cost about $125. A custom slipcover will run about $300-500 depending on fabric, and reupholstery will usually cost between $700-1000, again, depending on fabric. Reupholstery will include new seat cushion foam, new arm padding, and retying of all of the frame springs.

As for over-the-counter, there are a lot of them available online, and Target and BB&B carry a wide selection in their stores.

As for arm covers, any upholsterer can make some for you, and may even be able to match your fabric if you have all of the purchase info from the original purchase of the sofa. More likely, you'll need to choose a coordinating fabric for them.

I purchased Surefit stretch covers in "stretch suede/taupe" from Bed, Bath & Beyond for our basement furniture. I want to say that the loveseat cover was about $120 and the chair cover was $99 (I used 20% off one item coupons and bought them one at a time). The covers come in 2 pieces (1 piece for the cushions, 1 piece for the frame), fit surprisingly well, and cover up the floral pattern on the upholstry with no problem.

I bought these and while they're VERY nice and high quality, they don't fit my furniture.

The furniture would be called camelback style, and here's a picture I GOOGLED -- mine isn't anywhere near this fancy!! But couldn't find a better pic to post.

Also, would like to do both the sofa and love seat.

So does anyone have any idea where to find something to cover these? I also checked into upolstering but its way more than I want to spend.

Help please!!

pic I googled - the frame is similar -

I have the same shape sofa and we couldn't find anything to fit it. Plus, we had had cheaper slipcovers for a different sofa in the past and I thought they looked bad.

No help - but I got a talented friend of mine to make a fitted slipcover for my couch and we bought fabric at a discount designer fabric place that I used to live near. Then he just did it over a few days at my house with the sewing machine. Got any talented friends?

Wow, thanks for the reply. I might know someone, and will definitely ask around. Do you mind me asking me in what range he charged, or did you jsut offer?
