Sofa Beds?

We stayed at SSR over last Christmas (2007). We stayed in the Grandstand area and from what I understand, they were the newest section of SSR. The sofa beds at SSR were the old style which you had to remove the cushions and had a support bar in the middle of the bed (very uncomfortable). Two weeks ago (first week of June) we stayed at a BCV studio and 1 br. Both rooms had the new style of sofa beds (single pull to open couch, can not remove cushions, and no bar support in the bed) much more comfortable. Why are the sofas in an older resort newer than the couches in the newer resort?:confused3

That is definitely odd. We've had two stays at SSR- both in Congress Park and the sofa beds were the new style, very comfortable, foam type cushion with no bar in the middle.

I wonder if there was a maintenance issue in your unit and they addressed it by replacing the couch with an 'old spare'. But I've not stayed in the Grandstand section so can't comment if what you encountered across that whole section.

Looks like my post above was wrong. Just saw another thread that mentioned BCV sofa beds being new style and SSR being old style. I thought the SSR sofa beds to be very nice and comfortable compared to what you'd normally see, and don't recall a support bar in the middle.

I seem to recall (again could be wrong again) that BCV had their sofa beds updated fairly recently from what was included originally.

wow- I just stayed at SSR grandstand and found the pull out sofa extremely uncomfortable! It was the kind without the bar. We removed the cushions and pulled out the bed. It was very difficult to do this. Someone had to hold the couch so it didn't pull out from the wall and 2 of us had to pull the bed at a certain angle up and out. It was miserable and I'm pretty tolerant about beds. I did love my stay but will never sleep in the pull out again!

I had the type with the bars and all the cushions to remove - I called it "the ironing board" after a few nights sleep on it. We stayed in Grandstand this May.

The sofa bed I slept on in December in the Springs area did indeed pull out, and the cushions had to be removed. However, the matress was memory foam material and there was definately no bar across my back!

It was super firm, but I thought it was pretty comfy for a pull out!
YMMV :)

We stayed at BWV in May and had the new pull-out sofa, very comfortable. But last week at SSR we had the old style that you remove the cushions. Even my 13-year commented on the comfort difference. The new style is much better IMHO.

We stayed at BWV with the new style pullout. No complaints, pretty comfortable actually!
