Soda or Pop?

Coke here. :D Though usually people ask for what they want by name "Pepsi," "Sprite," "Diet Coke," etc. But if you're at a place with a serve-yourself fountain, you just say "coke" to get the cup.

Do you want a soda-pop? May have been a family thing. I find now I use them interchangably, or I say 'do you want a cola?'

No ibouncetoo, it's not just a family thing. In Chicago I call it a soda-pop or a soda or a pop. Coke is only for "Coca Cola".

In Quebec we called it a soft drink

My daughter in Ontario says pop

In CNY we say soda

We call it soda here in Syracuse, NY. But have friends in Rochester about 1 hour away that all they say is POP. Weird how it's so different so close by.

I was at one time a tonic guy, but WDW broke me of that at an early age (4th grade), when I was at the PR pool with my parents my mom gave me some money so I could get a drink, I went up to the snack bar all proud to do this by myself and asked for a tonic, the attendent told me they didnt have any(I thought this guy was just being mean I saw all these people walking away with their cokes)I went back empty handed and told my mom, she explained the tonic, soda, pop thing to me. This was also the first trip I found out I had an accent(We're going over to the pahk latah) hey you talk funny!

Pop almost always.....sometimes Soda but never the generic "Coke".....

We used to have a store here in Indy years ago that sold a variety of carbonated drinks in mix and match cases in returnable bottles called "The Pop Shop". It was a great deal. After the bottle deposit it cam out to about 9 cents a bottle.

I remember the pop shop. Its was like a big warehouse that you would pick up an empty case and fill it up and pay as you left. I wonder what happened to them. We use to get pop from them all the time, and then they just went away???
