Hi, I'm In and have been in a huge number of groups for future cruising.

One I'm in currently is giving out some odd info and still advising people to book PAT the day activities open.

I love these groups but despair at the info this one is giving out

I'm trying but the admin is adamant about stuff like making sure you book your PAT with activities and publicly tells me I'm wrong

Sounds like a group I saw on fb. The admin would delete any comments that corrected her wrong info. She tells people they can drop stuff off at guest services to have character autographs put on the items. They haven't done that in over 5 years. I feel bad for all the first time cruisers who don't know a lot of the info she posts is wrong. This site is very accurate.

There are several FB groups that are actually run by someone who isn't even booked on that cruise... I want to say it's a TA but I'm not positive. And yes, full of incorrect info but refuses to listen to anything else...

I know. Sometimes I find having a conversation directly with the person helps. They don’t know what they don’t know.

There are good groups and there are some awful ones.

I hate groups that are super over controlling-

I left probably the group being mentioned because yeah.. don’t have time for that nonsense

Most of the time we have postive experiences with the FB cruise groups but this last time I think our admin was an issue at times too. I noticed some incorrect answers at times. I also got blocked from posting for a couple days, no clue why but I suspect because my response to a question was not in line with hers.

I did refer people to Disboards at times which I think is more helpful and accurate.

yep, know that group. No longer a member. I agree, there are good ones and not good Ones. I walk away. You can only do so much.

If you are talking about the FB group that I think you are, then yep she is a TA and doesn't allow anyone to post about this forum or suggest people check out here for answers. You can't reference anything that might be TA related or suggest/refer someone to another TA for help. She does start a lot of the cruise groups for the various cruises on FB and then people have to do what she says or she will kick them out of that cruise group. I'm just glad that for our last two cruises, she wasn't involved.

Happens here too. Sometimes what appears to be wrong, was correct in the posters particular situation or cruise.
I think the folks that bother me are the Vloggers who has an issue and complain. Most of these are situations I would expect a Travel Agent to warn clients about. And I only mention Travel Agents because in two cases these people are also Travel Agents who seem to spend more time traveling than helping clients, and should doubly have know how to avoid their issue.

I know exactly which group you mean and I left it months ago, got tired of the way she ran the group and tired of her giving out completely incorrect information.

Everytime I read these posts, I am thankful the my social media cruise group and my cruise thread here on the DIS are full of what seems like funny, caring, generous, and wonderful people.

i agree. But I do have to say the moderators here on disboards do a great job.
