We have heard a lot about the soar'n ride at Epcot. My question is this. I get very motion sick! Is this a ride that has the 360 screen or will I be alright?

Thanks Much

While everyone is different, I will say you will be ok on this one. I get motion sickness on all those rides as well. I HATE Body Wars and Star Tours, can't do any type of simulator... Even IMAX movies makes me ill and I LOVE Soarin'. Never had an issue with it, been on it many times at DL...

It's not 360 degrees, but it might as well be, your forced to face a huge i-max type screen, it's sort of like a simulator. It's very smooth, and I don't think motion sickness would be a problem, but it might depend more on you.

I get sick on spinny rides ect I was ok on soar'n except at times I felt alittle dizzy but nothing that bad

I just rode Soarin' 2 days ago. I usually get motion sick on rides that twirl or loop and stuff like that but Soarin' didn't make me sick at all. The screen is not 360 degrees. It's really an awesome ride that i'm sure you'd enjoy and not get sick on! Well hope you have a happy ride!

The only type of ride that makes me sick is Star Tours. Soarin is very different from this. You almost never hear of anyone getting sick on Soarin. There is a gentle motion you feel which simulates you flying in a hang glider. There is a gentle breeze in your face. You are sort of immersed in an IMAX screen. IMO, Soarin is Disney Imagineering at its best. You absolutely have to go on this ride. 99.9% chance you will be fine physically, but mentally you will be blown away (no pun intended).

I get sick on Circlevision in O Canada!, and I don't on Soarin', so you will probably be fine. If you have any doubts, try for the 3rd (bottom) row of seats in the glider. That way, if you look down, you can see the edge of the screen, thus breaking up the illusion of flight (not a good thing in most cases, but if you start to feel queasy, it's good to know).

Body Wars made me have to sit awhile to recover but Soarin was just fine, no prob at all. Some IMAX screens bother me, even without movement but I felt perfectly fine in Soarin'. According to one of the CMs working on this ride, the ride is there to stay, though eventually they will probably change the movie that goes with it.

My sister has HUGE motion issues ... vertigo, etc. We did Soarin' at DL this past summer, and she had no problem. (This is a woman who, at times, gets dizzy watching traffic crossing in front of her!) Based on my reply, and the reply of others with similar concerns, I think you will be fine. And, as others have said, it is an awesome ride; I'd hate for you to miss it because of your anticipation, and not your reality.

The effect of feeling like you're moving on Soarin' is just that -- a special effect. If you start feeling queasy, close your eyes and you should be fine (BTW, this is NOT advice you want to follow for Mission Space, a ride where you actually do move.)
