I have to say, this is one of my all time favorite rides. It was absolutely amazing and so beautiful! It actually brought tears to my eyes. This is one of the few rides where everyone applauded when it was done. If you're wondering if you should do it, add it to your must do list, it's Awesome!

I agree - don't be put off by the warnings about motion etc. Its a very easy ride for nearly everyone and the soaring effect and film is great! This is a much needed enhancement to Epcot after what I think is a disappointment in Mission Space. Soaring and TestTrack seem to cause people to want to re-ride while MS doesn't.

Soarin' is awesome!!! :cool1: I did, however, get a little dizzy in the beginning, but that went away very quickly. What an amazing ride!!! I am so thankful for baby swap.......last week the standby time was 90 minutes only 1/2 hour after the park opened.

I loved the ending, but for those who have not ridden it yet.......you'll have to wait and see!

This is definitely a must do.

Do they have FASTPASS for this?

Oh yes, they certainly do. But, they run out of them pretty early, so, grab one as early as possible! :sunny:

Yes, we actually fast passed it and we were on in 5-10 mins. The standby line was like a two hour wait!

Rode it for the first time on Tuesday. We loved it. Disney really did a great job with this one.

Thanks to all. FASTPASS it is!

We rode Soarin' 2 years ago at DL and hands down, it was our favorite. My 3 year old stepdaughter and 6 year stepson still talk about that ride to this day. They thought it was SO cool that they "flew" right over their mommy's ship (she was stationed on the USS Stennis, the carrier featured in the film). And the orange grove...how cool. It was also neat seeing where we live, but from a bird's eye view (Tahoe).

We will probably go ride it again when we head to WDW, but after hearing about the long lines, we will be glad we rode it at DL if it's too long to wait. They also had FP for it at DL and the line was still pretty darn long (but I think it was relatively new at that time). They had some pretty cool misters outside the ride to keep the temperature down so at least our wait wasn't too miserable (Southern CA in the middle of August with hundreds of thousands of other people...not fun for these 20% humidity folks!!!).

I agree that even if you have motion sickness to try this ride. My stepson gets carsick quite frequently and he was fine on this ride. I can get a bit motion sickness if the situation is right (i.e. teacups) but it didn't bother me at all, either.

I just rode this for the first time on Monday. It was awesome. The only problem is I have a fear of heights and had to tell myself it was just a ride, but I would recommend it. My 5yr old son LOVED this ride!!

We too rode it first at DCA last year and rode it again when we went on our last trip to WDW. It was funny because I don't remember the smells on the first ride, but they certainly were quite strong and noticeable this time.

It makes me homesick because I call CA home and remember the smell of the orange groves where I used to live. I love it and it almost gets me a bit teary eyed when I ride it. Alot of the scenes are very familiar to me and others remind me of places we used to go when I lived in CA.
:sad1:

I loved it. My DW and I did it in DL last month and will do it at WDW this week. It is a "10". This one is a simple one but it has all of the magic you expect from Disney. If Walt could see it he would be pleased.

By the way I'm leaving in 10 hours. He-he.

Have fun, Uncle Albert.

We agree that Soarin is wonderful! I'm afraid of heights and can't stand 360 movie screens, riding backward, etc. but I was fine on this ride. There is one part that got to me a little visually the first time but now I know when the helicopter takes off of the carrier to not follow it but concentrate on the horizon. And I was fine immediately anyway.

I too think that Walt Disney would be proud of this one. :sunny:

BTW the queue is inside and is very long...no misters needed.

I agree!!! Soarin has to be one of the best rides or attractions that I have ever been on. I loved it. We were lucky enough to do it twice on our last trip. I would have done it 20 times if I would have been able too. If you haven't done it, do it. You want be sorry.

We just got back today from WDW and everyone in the family (9 of us!) all agree it was THE ride of our trip. I am scared to death of heights and had a bit of a problem when we came out of the clouds over the Golden Gate Bridge, but that went away real soon. The second time I rode it, it didn't bother me at all. WE LOVED IT!!!!!

I am afraid of heights and could not look down too much. I did get a bit queazy. It was well worth it though. I loved it.

Is there a height requirement? Anybody know what it is?
thanks

Quick question, to those who've had the privilge of riding this; do the seats lift very far off the floor?

The review I have read say there are 3 rows in each section, and that they lift up, the first going the highest. So now I'm imagining the first row about 12 feet off the floor, the second row about 6, and the last row just off the floor; so the rows don't block the view of the row behind it.

Am I close, or what? I have a 6 Y.O. that would absolutely freak out if he thougth he was more that a foot or 2 off the floor.

Thanks, all.

My understanding was the first row is about 40 feet off of the floor, the second about 25, and the third about 10? Something in that range, but I'm pretty positive the front row was 40 feet. That's the row I was in a few weeks ago, and I know we were quite a bit higher than 12 ft off of the floor. Think IMAX theater type screen and height. It's a big area, needless to say.

The "lift" part of the ride is in complete darkness, so techincally you don't really see just how much (or how little) you move before or afterwards. It's a smooth ride too, so you don't really notice the movement much at all actually. Keeping that in mind, my dad (who hates heights and only went on the first row because my mom and I really wanted to) got incredibly nervous and I had to talk to him during the ride to calm him down. So, you may want to request third row just to be on the safe side; simply explain your child is not fond of heights, and they should be happy to accommadate you. :)
