Soarin

Rode Soarin' the other day. I bothered me from the beginning it moved. Now I read the reviews and thought I could handle it. I had my eyes closed the whole time and would just peek from time to time. Thank god they had wind blowing because I think that it the only thing that saved me from getting sick. I was even on the last tier that everyone suggested.

My DH and DS really liked it. We used the fast pass and when we saw the stand by line by DH said no way would he stand in line for over 2 hours. He also thought the ride was too short. As for me it was long enough. :)

We rode it this past Friday. What an awesome ride. We used Fastpass. The only way to go. When we went at our Fastpass time of 10:27, the stand-by line was already 60 minutes. I had been told the first row was the best. When we got to the front, we would have been in the 3rd row. I kindly asked the CM if we could wait for the 1st row. She just set us aside until the next ride. She was very nice about it. All the CM's we encountered on our trip were extremely helpful. I guess all the bad CM's I have read about on these boards were locked up during our stay. :rotfl: How nice of Disney to do that for us. :rotfl:

will i have to take off my sandals?
I wear very loose birks with no backstrap (they fall off my feet when i'm just walking).

If i do have to take them off, is there a place to store them or do i have to hold them?

When we rode it the lady next to me had on sandals. The CM told her to take them off and just leave them there right in front of her because you come back to the exact same place. :flower:

This was my favorite ride at DCA back in 2001 and we rode it over and over. I was on it last Sunday at EPCOT and it still ranks as my all time favorite ride! It is amazing! I am heading back to DCA in 2 weeks and I plan on riding it again and again!

I LOVE the music from the ride, too!

thanks. That's very good to know!!

They also have a little storage mesh bag type area right under your feet that you can put loose items (hats, sandals, etc.) inside if you want. :)

We enjoyed this ride everytime. Although we were a bit spoiled because the first time we rode on the top and after that we kept getting the bottom row and my kids kept saying I see people's feet! I kept saying shut up... I'm trying to pretend they aren't there. Just look straight ahead or down and you won't see their feet. LOL It does kinda "ruin" it if you are looking around and see tons of feet/legs dangling above you. :(

Okay.....I am the BIGGEST chicken ever...I won't go on Splash Mountain and won't even consider any type of roller coaster----I wish I did but I get really scared (some issues I probably have to work out sooner or later :goodvibes

Anyway...I love simulated rides though, hanna barbera (at universal), I've even been okay on back to the future (universal), I have also been on the simulated rides at disney (don't remember the name but when the splinter got pulled out of the skin?) Anyway....I am okay on them cause I know that if I close my eyes I am really not moving, it is the picture I'm looking at that is moving.

Now I am reading on these posts that you actually go up in the air? Does it go fast...does it feel like a roller coaster??? I was very excited to go on this ride and I know I'm going to let down my dh & dd's if I don't, but can someone please tell me...does the motions feel like a coaster, or if you close your eyes you don't really know if you are moving???

Sorry so long, but as you can see, for some strange reason I am absolutely petrified of fast moving rides.

Thanx!!!

I don't really think you are moving during the ride- I could be wrong.. but I don't think so. You are just lifted up a little in the air so your seat is directly in front of the big huge screen... they do have something blowing air at you because it feels like you have wind in your air as you're soarin through the sky but you are really just sitting there a few feet above the ground. (higher than a few feet if you are on the top row ofcourse)

It does not go fast- it does not feel like a roller coaster. I *think* you would just feel wind in your hair if you closed your eyes. :)

From reading all the good reviews about Soarin' I am SO excited to ride this for the first time. :teeth:

The most recent time I had gone to WDW (november 04) I rode MS for the first time and I was pretty disapointed with it. I was prepared for more than I got out of it :( I was actually terrified to go on it...all those warning signs can really scare you. When it was over I said "that's all?" MS is still among my favorite attractions, though.

Thank you BibbidyBobbidyBo ----I hate to miss out on an experience that everyone is saying is so wonderful by my own fears....but then again, I started thinking that if it was like a coaster the only experience I would be missing out on is getting sick at Disney :rotfl:

Thanx....I think I will try it and stop worrying so much!

This ride sounds awesome- I can't wait to try it! How early in the day are the fastpasses gone?

Last Sunday we were there at 11:00 a.m. and got fastpasses for 5:06 - 6:06.

We just got back from our WDW trip yesterday and rode Soarin' 3 different times. We loved it!! All 4 of us (my timid DS to my thrill-ride loving DH). I get a bit funny with heights and at the beginning of the 1st ride i was a bit nervous, but then got lost to the movie and effects. (It helped me to sit back in my seat and not try to look around or down). You do move during the ride but it is more of the simulation type tilting back or gently to the side (nothing jarring). We rode the first 2 times in the front row (far right side and far left side) and from left to right the view is slightly different but both are wonderful. The third time we rode in the second row and you can definitely see people's feet above you (next time I will ask to wait for the first row).

I just rode this for the first time on Monday. It was awesome. The only problem is I have a fear of heights and had to tell myself it was just a ride, but I would recommend it. My 5yr old son LOVED this ride!!
We also rode it Monday... for the first time and the second time! :wave2:

Is there a height requirement? Anybody know what it is?
thanks

I don't think anyone answered this...it is 40". Our 3 year old just made it in with her tennis shoes on. We left the sandals at the hotel so she could ride Soarin. She thought it was cool- I had my hand on her leg so she would know I was right there and I felt her tense up at times.

We went last week of April before the official opening and the wait time posted was 20 minutes but it wasn't more than 10!

I loved it as well. I get motion sickness real easy, but this does not bother me at all.

ok, where is it in epcot, was just there last fall and for the life of me can't remember where they were doing work :confused3
