Soarin' seat preference

I'm having a friendly discussion about this with my wife... Obviously top middle is best (row B1), but would you rather be in the top row on a side (where you can see the screen's edge and the video is a little warped) or in the bottom row in the middle (no screen edge but you see feet and you're lower).

We always ask for B1. We will even wait for the next showing (usually about 5 minutes) in order to be in the center and on the top row. I hate to see feet and the sides of the mechanism. I spend too much time looking at the operating machinery and trying to figure out the mechanics of the contraption than actually watching the show. So, we're just patient and wait another round. It's cool in the building and the CM's are usually very nice about it.

I didn't know you could do that. Though I've never tried, I assumed you could ask for a certain row but I figured if that row was already full you would have no choice but take something else. I didn't know they'd let you park yourself off to the side and wait.

I didn't know that either. When we took our first trip to Disneyland in April a CM saw us checking out the fastpass machines - it was near closing and they were long gone. We weren't whining or making a fuss - just casually observing that the fastpasses were gone and getting ready to walk away. But she randomly decided to take pity on us and said she had a magical moment for us. She then escorted us to the front of the hour long line, and put us right into row B1.

Though I've ridden Soarin a zillion times (at Epcot) I have never gotten anything out of it before. It's never felt like I was doing anything other than watching a film about scenery and I never understood the fuss. But this trip to Disneyland was my first time ever in row B1 and HOLY COW it made all the difference. It was the first time out of about 30 rides that I ever enjoyed Soarin'.

Now that I know you can hang back for a particular row, I may start doing that just for that experience!

No no no, the BEST row is B2, middle middle. Sure there are feet above you but in B2 you can't see the sides of the screen, the top or the bottom. We always ask for middle middle, the CM's look at us like we are crazy but we always get it!

I've only been in the top row, but it's so amazing that I can't imagine that any seat would be bad.

We always try for B1, but really do not care because we emerse ourselves in the ride. I started hanggliding a couple of years ago just because of the ride............FUN!

I agree that the top row in the middle tends to be the nicest spot. I agree that waiting for the next showing works out really well because you get the full experience. I always ask for specific seats when getting on rides even if it means I have to wait longer, I rather do that and get the full effect of the ride.

I agree front row center is best, but the second row isn't too bad either. THIRD ROW END however, should not even exist. What a terrible experience that is, and I feel bad for anyone who ends up seated there on their first ride on Soarin'. I definitely wouldn't expect them to understand what all the hype is about after that.

We use to wait for the top center row but now pretty much take anything.

We found that we feel much closer to the show on the bottom row and as much as I have tried to remember.......the dangling legs never seem to bother me.

I'm just happy to be there and Sorin is my favorite!

We generally travel to WDW because it's closer but our next Disney trip will be to DL. We stay at the Grand Cali and start each day with Sorin!!!

For a while we always got the top row just by accident. I like the top row best, but we don't ask for a row. We just sit wherever. I still like it from any seat.

The wait for the next show is ~10 minutes, and it feels like forever.

The dangling feet don't bother me in the least...

but I like the center seats (B) and try to avoid sitting on the side.
