I watched in both theaters today.

Pristine clean screens. Crystal clear images.
No problems with dirty film prints or "dancing dust flakes" in the projection gates.
Everything looks great!

First rate experience!

I am so happy to hear that! Last time I was there the dirty film kind wrecked the experience.
How's your eyesight? ;)

Hmmm. Thanks for the report. I thought you were going for a haiku for a second...

Thanks for the report Robo. Its a real problem for them to keep that film/projector clear of debris.

I'm know that you're kidding about the eyesight,
but I'm a video and television producer, so I'm well-trained
and versed in looking for high-quality images.
I was specifically looking for the image problems
that we've seen in the past on Soarin'.

Today, both theaters looked great!

YAY!!!!

So happy to hear I won't get distracted by all the specks flying around on the screen during our upcoming trip :cool1:

Agree! When my family and I were there on Jan. 3rd, we said the same thing.. The Soarin' film was so clean. Looked brand new!

We went on Soarin in California Adventure and they had the same issue with black specks and white spots on the screen. It's most noticeable when the view is panning and the spot stays still.

I'm surprised they are able to clean it since it seemed to be part of the film.

It will be nice to get rid of the distractions.

They must have replaced the film, which they do from time to time. That film gets worked hard, so scratches and stuff are inevitable (until they go digital).

Did anybody see the Simpsons last night at Itchy & Scratchy Land where they had Soarin' Over Springfield? It was great and so much like the actual Soarin'. They have a great eye for detail!

Disney California Adventure (DCA) in the Disneyland Resort has just started a 5-month refurbishment on Sorin'.

Rumor is that they are upgrading the screens, upgrading to digital projectors to get rid of film, and will possibly include the new "Soarin Over The World" video/ride. That is why it's such a long referb. It will then come to WDW Epcot as well with an additional theater (3 total instead of the current 2).

Of course, all rumors!

Anyone watch the Simpsons last night?

Bart and Homer road "Soarin' Over Springfield" (complete with dangling feet at the top of the screen).

It's the 2nd time in 2 weeks that they've parodied Disney parks.

^ I didn't catch the signage about what 4D is - now we know that the fourth dimension is actually "Spray!" :lmao:

What's worse Stitch's chili-dog breath or "Tire Fire" spray?

The part about the screens and the digital projectors in DCA is certainly true and that accounts for the log refurb period.

Yay!!! I don't think I've seen it clearly in years. I hope it can stay that way through summer. :)

Rode it twice in December and it was clear as could be. I actually tried looking for spots or blemishes.

Rode it twice in December. First time was crystal clear (rode on the last one to the right) and second time there was a black smudge in it (last one on the left side). I keep saying I wish they would close it and clean the screens but then I say just don't let it be the week I am there!
