Soarin' SB+ test...Fail

Yep.

Still re-arranging the deck chairs, and still testing on paying guests without advanced notice.

I'm sure someone soon will be along to say - "but how else are they going to do it...?"

But, if was a test that benefited the guests, they would announce it to the World --- just like they did when they added the 4th FP+ option after using your 1st three reservations.....;)

(Welcome back, btw :thumbsup2 )

Thank you. I have had a relaxing summer - traveling. Now I have to get back to work, and plan my next Disney trip, I have DVC points to spend again. :).

The first thing I read is this post. Everything is complicated now. My friends just got back from Diagon Alley and can't stop talking about it, and I really enjoyed my first trip to Busch Gardens last year, and I have DVC. That is a lot of competition for my time and money.

I do KNOW this though, I booked my flights for Disneyland June 2015. But, I won't be using DVC, So I still have to figure how to use my points in Orlando. Maybe the best solution would be for Disney to build a DVC on Universal land? :rotfl2:

It sounds like mine train is not enough to MAKE me go to MK. And SB+ isn't going to work for me. Decisions, Decisions.

There is always LaCava ... SB+ there yet? That is worth its price in Agave.

The FP+ outage yesterday caused me to flashback to last year, dragging the family from appt to appt for ADR's and FP's. The phone app was completely unreliable so I wrote all our appts down on a paper coaster before we left the room each day so we wouldn't have to rely on the app.

I tied catching up on this thread before I went to bed last night. I kept having that dream where I'm late for class and there's a big test but I can't remember where class is or what time it started. In my dream I was constantly trying to find the piece of paper with my schedule on it....:crazy2:

I didn't know there was a FP+ outage yesterday, but I sure knew that the website wasn't working for crap, as I was trying to figure out why my DH was listed in my MDE account three times! I cannot imagine what it must have been like for those who were in WDW on their expensive, carefully planned in advance, vacation!

Technology is great when it works, but when it doesn't? We are all reduced to the note taking and spread sheet print-outs that the technology was developed to replace! I will NEVER go to Disney without my notebook- details of all the trips over the years, including prices paid, ADRs, etc- and my notecards that fit in my wallet, where I write down the daily ADRs, and now FP+ times.

Surely you wouldn't call it work to plan a Disney vacation? ;)

And congrats on heading to DLR next summer! :thumbsup2 You'll love it. Our little group of defectors just keep growing. :)

Luckily, this is all just a test that will be over in a few more years.

So let's see if I have this straight now. I'm (pretend) going to Epcot and this SB+ is in place for the popular rides.

Get there at rope drop and ride Test Track.
Use 3 FP+ after that in order to qualify for 4th.
But first get in line to get a SB+ for Test Track (DS really likes this).
Done by afternoon and SB lines have closed at some rides. Note marked increase in lines at lesser attractions since people are being turned away from popular ride SB.
Give up on all of this nonsense and spend the rest of day in the British pub.

Got it. ;)

As long as single rider still exists, I suspect that you're right. ;)

My son is a child in college by the way and so far he is still willing to go to WDW with old people. That could change any time and this might be enough.

Now about that pub.... ;)

Wow, just wow. Been out of the loop lately, no trip to be planned and real life got in the way. Read the first few pages so far, in the process of reading the rest, but someone please reassure me and tell me this idea has already been canned? I don't know if I can read 50 pages detailing this wonderful new way of touring.

I cannot believe they thought this would go over well with guests. It's like the worst scenario so many of us thought of when FP+ was first announced is now being put into practice.

There are rumors I think that this will also be tested at TSMM next week. If that happens, then…I dunno. If that doesn't happen, I will assume it got canned.

Oh yeah, someone crossed the streams. MDE was dooby dooby, down for a good portion of the day and it was affecting FP+ in the parks. They had stations setup handing out paper FP to everyone. :thumbsup2

Ha. Good catch. No flashy blog post on the Disney Parks Blog for this one. That's an easy way to know that something is not a good change.

I doubt they are going to all FP all the time. I envision them doing something much more subtle like feed even more of the day's capacity into the FP+ system and only open the standby line if it is under 30 minutes. Standby really would be more akin to the standby used on airlines.

I think they are willing to give all of the slots into FPP/MDE, as much as prebooking demands. Then I think a few attractions will get a FP+ only designation, but just a few. In the future, I could see literally everything going through MDE somehow.

Oh geez - do you have a link or something?
I really don't want to look - but it's like a train wreck - I can't turn away...:crazy2:
