Soarin LIVE reports!

What is the facination with David Putty as the narriator for the pre-show? Yea he is good but some of the comments make it seem like that is better than the entire ride.

to the OP. What are the scents? Grass and the ocean, right?

I love him in all he does (Seinfeld, the Tick, etc.) and thought it was a great feature to the original and just associate that as part of the complete experience

It certainly wouldn't have been the end of the world but it would have been a bummer to me if he wasn't in it

Encouraging that the waits are already declining significantly on day one. Will really want to see what kind of waits there are next week, and once the Frozen ride opens. It may be that Frozen will have to be the FP pick if Soarin' lines are moving so well.

Oh boy, you all are making me nervous. I found out through my travel agent that FEA would be open when I'm there a week from saturday..so I switched my FP from Soarin' to that... Hope I didn't make a bad decision.

I think using the tier one on FAE is the safe call - that is a new ride/new theme ... while this is just an update to Soarin' and the added third theater should help a lot. At least for the summer I bet the standby lines at FAE are much longer

We'll be there on July 13th. Already decided and picked FEA ( Frozen) as our fast pass. I'm guessing it will stay backed up because of the limited capacity and slow loading of the boats. Hopefully the lines will be moving good for standby on Soaring by then. We're excited about both.

I remember thinking that I sure hope it's not elephants on the savannah. But I'll have to take your word that there were scents at all. There was nothing remotely as strong as the orange grove. This was not a negative for me, but surprising.

I have not watched any of the videos yet, I do not plan to before I attempt to ride Soarin again. I got bored about three minutes into the original attraction so I will see if trying it again is any better. I guess I expected the attraction to be exciting, but I just felt like I was watching a movie from an elevated chair. I am usually pretty good about getting into the spirit of an attraction, but I really couldn't "pretend" I was actually hang gliding.

I think it's tradition for me. He does a good job and I enjoy that portion so I'm thankful it didn't change. I'm also glad they updated but did not change the score! Soarin' music gives me goosebumps!!

I believe you made a good decision! I'm nearing the 60 day mark for booking our FP+ reservations and after carefully watching Soarin' wait times today I'm going to book FEA too and going to rope drop Soarin'.

Good to hear that was not the case! Really looking forward to this in Nov.

I don't want to spoil it by watching the video-but how will I stand the wait until February to ride my absolute favorite ride????

WOW WOW and WOW! I was planning on doing a PPO at garden grill for our trip in March and then going straight to Soarin. If the wait was 90 minutes at 8:01 before the park even opens then I am guessing people booked Garden Grill and just paid the no show fee to get into the Soarin line. I am hoping this all calms down before our trip lol...otherwise hubby will be getting a snack and missing out on Garden Grill so he can wait in the Soarin line for my son, lol...I can't do Soarin bc I get vertigo so I was planning to do Living w/ The Land with my toddler and my hubby and older son get ride Soarin. Heres to hoping things calm down a bit, lol
How could it be at 90 minutes at 8:01? We have a PPO at Garden Grill also. Surely that many people didnt skip their reservation to ride Soarin did they?

I am seriously hoping not, because that would ruin all my plans, lol...Maybe today is just different since its opening day and hopefully crowds will calm down a bit after the entire world rushes to see the new Soarin ride. I was watching the video today of someone who went to see Anna & Elsa this morning for their soft openings and the time only stated a 15 minute wait! I don't think I have ever seen A&E with that short of a wait since they debuted, lol...The guy on the camera made a statement saying the entire park was over at Soarin and thats why the wait was so short, lol. Guess we all know where A&E stand, lol

For those of you who have watched the video of the Shanghai version, you'll still want to go see it at Epcot. It has a completely different ending that I think will please a lot of Disney fans!

Wait time is still short right now, at almost 6:00pm, at less than an hour. I'm lucky to have snagged someone's cancelled FP this morning. I bet a lot of people made those reservations just in case they could go on opening day!

By the way, aside from the MK, it feels like all the parks were not very crowded this week.

We are heading to Epcot tomorrow and while I don't plan on riding Soarin I am worried about how busy the park will be. My DH is here on work and I have taken the boys to the other parks but our last day tomorrow is when the older two want to do Mission Space and Test Track.
Do you think Epcot will be a nightmare? We also have lunch reservations at Garden Grill...I will have to take pictures of the line just as a keepsake.
