We are traveling to WDW this November for my 30th Birthday and I just found out Soap Weekend is The 11th + 12th(the Big Day) . I just wanted to know from those who went past years what to expect :confused3 . It does help that I am a Long Time General Hospital Fan. :woohoo:

I remember going a few years ago - your post caught my eye because we are planning to be there on 11/11 as well!

Anyways, I am not a soap fan, but I remember we stayed at the YC and alot of the stars seemed to be there too. We didn't see any of the stars, but did see their luggage as they were checking in and out.

I do remember seeing stations set up throughout MGM for various soap stars. . You had to stand in line to meet them and get autographs etc. I don't remember any line being particularly long, but again, I didn't participate, and this was about 4 years ago.

I don't think the parks are that crowded at that time of year. We are going that week this time to avoid Jersey week the week b4. We hope it will be nice and quiet!

i hate to break this to you, but jersey kids are out of school on 11/9 & 11/10 for the njea teachers convention. so i think that you may catch some of jersey week   . i have never been down there for a soap star weekend (or for jersey week) , but we will be there this year. i am also wondering about the crowd situation. soap star weekend + jersey week + food and wine festival = :sad2: :sad2: extra crowds!?!?! let's hope not ;)

Sorry, it's Jersey Week! We'll be there Tues the 7th to Mon the 13th, but lots of people are there starting the Nov 3 and variations up to the 14th!

Yes, that weekend will be way crowded, Food and Wine festival is usually wrapping up around then, the 2 days at MGM are crowded for the restaurants, and Millionaire (Soap Editions) but the rides/attractions aren't too bad since everyone is doing the Soap stuff.

If you want nice and quiet, it's not that week! Unless you are staying past the 13th.

Okay, so I had to drag my calendar out. We are going the Sunday after the "main" part of Jersey week (the 12th). I am hoping most crowds will dissipate by that Monday (the 13th) since the kids are back in school.

I thought kids got election day off (7th), plus 2 other days that week, apparently 9th and 10th, making it essentially a week off of school. That is the week that I have always considered Jersey week (5th through the 11th). This is the week we went last year and found it to be too crowded for our taste. I sure hope the bulk of crowds are gone by the time we get there seeing as I specifically avoided Jersey week this year bcuz of crowds... :confused3

last november we caught the tail end of "jersey week" and left the day "soap weekend" started.

now no offense intended, but i gotta say for a west coaster it was certainly a unique experience hearing people talk with an "accent" we are only used to hearing in not nesc. flattering t.v. shows and movies (in fact i was ready to die when ds asks me in a real loud voice at typhoon lagoon 'MOM WHY DO ALL THESE PEOPLE SOUND LIKE GANGSTERS?", of course it was'nt much better when dd asked "mom, why do all these ladies have such BIG hair?")

the day we left the "soapsters" were checking in full force and it was CROWDED (realy noticed a big difference the night before at the parks)-but it was amusing to see all these (again no offense intended) middle aged women in mickey mouse ears screaming over the "goodies" they had gotten in the little plastic bags they were carrying around ("oh my god, his pictures in here-i swear to god, i swear to god let me go lock it in the room right now, i'll die if i lose it, i'll just DIE!". :rotfl2:

I went to Super Soap w/e w/DD last Nov. It was unbelievably crowded! MK was mobbed when we got there and we were told it was due to Presidents dayh holiday. Lots of folks from NJ. MGM was actually dangerously crowded. i got shoved down stairs that I was trying to get up w/cane. The good news is since most people making it crowded are looking for soap stars, the lines for rides were shorter. Many rides at MGM were closed because that was where the stars were set up. They also had special parades and concerts. DD had a blast but I dont think I would want to do it again.

We were there last year during Jersey wk, soap stars, f&w fest, and festival of the masters at DTD I think all of these things just kept making the crowds grow and grow. NEVER NEVER again!!! I heard that it was going to be Jersey wk before we went but I never dreamed that everyone from NJ would be there, but I think they were. It was very crowded!!! The weather was great though. My DH talks to anyone and everyone and we only met about 5 families who were not from NJ. If you go just be prepared, all the parks were crowded.
