IF I can figure out how to do this, there will be a poll here.

Here's the question, in the last year have you transferred MORE then one time (either in or out?) I would think a lot of folks are like me and never transferred at all.

I transferred 5 times (total of 933 pts) for a 2 week trip for 18 people

I did one transfer out to a family friends' account--as our wedding gift to their daughter (my adopted niece :bride: ) and her hubby-to-be.

good poll! I have had several small one from people to book some 2 bedrooms for my family and friends. I was one ,of the people, that would take your 7 points that you ,were going to, have left over if that was all you had, not any more. Never did ,a transfer out ,only in. Still have a lot, of the points and banked all of them today before Disney changed their mind on that too! My confidence is Disney is Gone!!!!

No transfers to date, and none planned (but I had thought about it, below). We have been able to do what we need with borrowing. I would probably scale down plans rather than transfer in if I needed more points for a grand gathering.

The only time that I ever was going to think about transferring is if another Member Cruise was set and we could go on it. I thought that possibly we could transfer points and use cash, but probably now, we would either use points as we did the last time, or do a partial point/out of pocket cash ressie. DH was never really "sure" about transferring anyway.

We rented out half of our of our 2005 and all of our 2006 points to cover part of the costs of the Disney Cruise. Having serious WDW withdrawl, we ended up borrowing from 2007 to cover our "before school starts trip" to SSR just last month. I now am looking to rent points to cover our Christmas/New Years trip in 2007/2008. I have been in this position before (always in borrow mode).

We have 160 annual points. We ended up renting some points from another member last summer, also. Some may say we need to just cough up the money and buy more points. However, with our children's school and academic/extra-curricular schedules, it gets harder and harder to plan way in advance (more than 5 mos), and to justifiy purchasing more points w/the additional maintenance fees (if we can't use the points).

Just having the option of renting points when you need them (maybe more than once in a use year) was really nice. We, for one, will definately miss it. I'm not saying I don't think it's justified to enforce the rule, just that we will miss taking the advantage of being able to do more than once in a use-year, if necessary.

I do feel like this benefit is abused. I just am bummed that those of us who use it once in a while to enhance the opportunities of our membership will perhaps endure some difficulties.

I do think we're in the minority, tho, and the change is for the benefit of the whole.

I will miss the benefit of transferring, because we travel about four times, with two of those trips being big ones. I rented the points I needed for extra nights in a GV, and again for a longer stay at Christmas. I have alot of points, but even with banking and borrowing them, a trip to a GV is alot of points. I will just be taking fewer trips, I guess. It's Disney's loss. :confused3

I assume you are referring to one's UY... the 12 month period?

I was told, only one transfer is authorized with a members UY... whether transferring into the members account or transferring out.

Friends (also DVC) and I stay a week every Oct. and we alternate every year. I was short some points a couple of years ago and they transferred what was needed. One and only time.

To date, total number of transfers out of our June UY contracts - 4 (none in the last 12 months). Total number of points transferred out - 27. They all went to posters who frequent these forums who needed to complete a ressie.

To date, total number of transfers into our December UY contracts - 1 completed in February 2006). Total number of points transferred in - 43.

For our current pattern of use the policy to limit transfers to one per year is not expected to affect us one way or the other.

Since we're new to DVC this year, I can't answer the poll in the past tense. I can tell you that it WILL affect me next year though when I'm planning for my DH's entire family to go to Disney with us on one of our two trips for the year.

I was planning on doing transfers in for the additional points I need above those I can bank and borrow from my own account. I want to make the reservation at 11 months out and I'm going to have to now pin down his family members way in advance to know EXACTLY which days they will be coming with us (5 different families involved) so that I can figure out EXACTLY how many points I need to transfer in. I can't afford to guess wrong since I only get one transfer in.

In six years we have only transferred in once and never out. Another member transferred 150 points to me so we could complete a family reunion.

DD and her friend spent 4 nights at OKW when they graduated college. The friend's mom made the ressie and I transferred enough points to her for 2 of the nights. That's the only time I transferred.

no, I did not. Glad Disney is starting to use some of there rules :thumbsup2

We bought enough pts to get the rooms we need and if need be we use banking and borrowing as it is supposed to be use.

Now if only Disney would just go back to the rules for Occupancy :goodvibes
