So who has been to Hoop Dee Doo Review recently?

We just did it Wednesday night and it was fantastic! One of the highlights of the trip and we have done it 4 times now together. My kids are teens and they still love it. Loved it at 6 love it still at 43! Did you say where you are staying? Disney provides direct bus service to all of the hotels at the end of the show. You only have to get there which is easy via MK. This is a nice option if you enjoy beer, wine or sangria and nobody has to be the designated driver.

Did HDDR a few months ago, it is always such a great time! The food is really good too, the fried chicken is delicious and not too greasy. Plus all you can drink sangria and beer!

A note on seating.. I've sat in every tier and have not been disappointed in either one. I think I may have preferred the 3rd tier balcony seating because it can get a little chaotic and cramped on the main floor.

Is this for all the shows or just the last one?

Not to play the nagging harpy, but I was hoping to get some feedback on the non-drinkers value (or lack thereof) of the HDDR. I am used to going to events where the free booze is the justification for a higher cost, but try to make sure that the food/entertainment is still worth the price of admission.

I'm a social drinker but I don't like anything HDDR service...cheap beer and cheap sweet wine are not my thing so I don't par take in the booze... is it worth it? Depends. It certainly isn't worth the price for the food and drink, but if you like the show... then it is.

Anytime you're going to put a slab of cornbread on my table with unlimited drinks I'm game!!! :thumbsup2

The show is fantastic too :rotfl2:

We also do not drink and have found it very worthwhile. This will be our 3rd trip to the HDDR. The kids (and I) just love the show. It's hokey, but so much fun! We booked a room with free dining and are definitely considering the cost of tips, etc. on this trip. Since this is a 2TS restaurant, this basically pays for 2 meals worth of tips for our family of 6. That's a great deal right there. Two meals worth of tips costs us around $70. :scared1: At any rate, we love the HDDR. The kids don't pay attention to tips and expenses. They just know that they HAVE to go to HDDR!

We were there at Christmas. Very cute show! Have seen it twice. The show is better than the food IMO, but the food was decent and they certainly bring enough of it!

The buses run after each of the last 2 shows.
The beer is Bud Light and adds a bit to the value, but the ribs and chicken are heaven, the cornbread is Nirvana, and the show is Disney corn at its best. Worth it on every level.

Then walk to the docks, hop on the MK transport and catch your bus there. In the long run, for most, it's quicker. And the dock is less than 100 yards away. about the same distance as to the buses.

What kind of wine do they serve?

That's a good idea. Maybe hit the MK on the way "home"

After a solid 10 years of resisting it ("It's too hokey"), we finally did it in 2008. I have no idea what we were thinking - it was great fun. Yes, it's corny, but in a funny way. The food isn't gourmet, but it's simple and good. We went again in November 2009 to take my sister and her family and we're going again on our trip in 18 days and taking my MIL.

We always take the car because we always drive everywhere. Yes, we then have to take the internal bus, but we've never had a problem with it.

We did the Hoop just two weeks ago! It was the second time for most of us and the first time for the 10-year-old. Though she ate half of a very expensive grilled cheese sandwich, the rest of us enjoyed the meal and we all really enjoyed the show.

WAIT JUST A MINUTE....

You can get grilled cheese at HDDR??? My son will be overjoyed - I never even thought to ask!

We just did it last Saturday. Still the best show ever!
We had SO much fun. I did the categor 2, but our table ended up being in the second row, right off the stage stairs!! We were at the 9:30 show and the whole upper level was empty. We drove to Fort Wilderness, but you still need to take a bus to the actual Pioneer Hall.

The red-haired actress to a liking to my DH and he became a big part of the show when her and Sixpence do a singing duel! It was too funny! The food was delicious and the hokey entertainment just cant be beat.

Before we went I heard you could ask for a hot dog or mac and cheese for your child.
I asked out waiter and he said my son could get mac n cheese. Anything else would have to be brought there from another restaurant and I would be charged.
I asked for the mac n cheese, but he never did bring it. :(
So dont get your hopes up on getting different food for your child.

I'd like to know the brand of wine too... All I know is when we went about 4-5 yrs ago it was bad. Here's hoping it's better now.

I haven't read all the replies, but just wanted to plug this.

Until my last and most recent visit to WDW, I had never been to HDDR.

I'm almost 29 years old and have been to WDW 100s of times, starting before birth, and hands down HDDR was one of the best experiences I've ever had.....ever! And that was tier 3 at the "worst table." We had great interaction and the best server.
