So, when do you know you're home?

We own at the Beach Club Villas, and I know I'm home when I smell that smell while walking in the courtyard to the Villas and see the Ariel statue.

That smell does it for me too! Does anyone know what that is exactly?

This last trip though, DH and I decided that we're not really home until we are sitting at the Rose & Crown pub with a cold pint in front of us! :drinking1

When I walk into the room and see this:

47b7cc26b3127ccec29bc3cd283e00000016108AZOGTFq4ZtAe3nwQ

Oh yes....just a perfect Welcome Home! :thumbsup2

We drive down from TN, so I think it starts a little once we get out of Georgia, then a little more when we get to the turnpike, then off the turnpike. Finally, once we make that right hand turn in front of the marketplace and then being welcomed home at the guard station :woohoo:

Parking and getting to stretch after a long trip doesn't hurt either :thumbsup2

Our trip, a couple of weeks ago, seemed a little different to me. It took until our last full day to realize why! We arrived on a Thursday evening at BWV
(the resort doesn't matter) & went to DTD. It took us until Tues. lunch to get to San Angel Inn in Mexico. I finally felt home!:confused3 We left on Wed. It finally dawned on me that on almost all of our 30+ trips to WDW, we always ate at Mexico on the 1st day there. Not sure whether it's the tortilla soup or the margarita's. But that HOME!:woohoo:

Hope

That smell does it for me too! Does anyone know what that is exactly?

it smells like pot to us. it wasn't till our second trip that i realized it was'nt.

we usually visit dad first in sarasota and drive in from there. there is a very large utility pole shaped like mickey's head. that does it for me.

...there is a distinctive, pleasing smell to the Disney Cruise Line, too ... I'm sure it must be some high grade cleaning solution they use day after day after day...

A couple weeks ago, I was visiting the Apple Store on 5th Ave. in Manhattan, and as I took the stairs down to the main level below ground, I smelled that very same scent. (I think they use it on the plastic-and-glass spiral staircase.)

Man, did it take me back! :)

Same here! I love driving under the WDW arch.

Me too! It's my screen photo on my laptop and my desktop computers. I will be going for the 11th time and the thrill has not diminished, not a bit!

Actually I really know I'm there when the twenty's start flying out of my wallet like leaves off the oak trees on a breezy fall day!!!:upsidedow

I'm someone who gets excited at the airport. I see all of the people leaving the small monorail, and I think how lucky I am to have just arrived!!!!

Bobbi:banana:

Doesn't matter what resort I'm staying at, as soon as we pass through the Disney arch, I'm "home!":goodvibes

Same for me! That's when it hits me and a big smile appears on my face :goodvibes

I am a sucker for the "Welcome Home" from the guard at the gate, but until I step out onto my balcony with a glass of wine in my hand and peruse all of the little people strolling MY Boardwalk, I'm just not home.
I HATE it when my room isn't ready, (although I can't remember the last time it was.) It takes me a while to drop the weight of the world off of my shoulders and it won't fall until I have unpacked everything and settled into the room. Then, pull the cork, take a deep breath, step out onto the balcony and I am the "Queen of the World"!

Well, we are HHI people so for us, it's a little different. It is when we cross that long bridge onto the island. There is just this peace that comes over me and the real world is left at the mainland end of that bridge. Sigh.

Since we always drive to WDW---I feel like I'm home when I see the electric power Mickey Head on the highway. As soon as we spot it We all say---well--we're almost home---there's Mickey !!!!
When we're heading back home to Sarasota--we always wave goodbye to that Mickey head and say '''Bye----see ya real soon" !!!!

There are two spots for us. First one is stepping off the plane and feeling the awesome Florida sunshine. :cool1: Second is pulling up to our resort in our rental car and having the bell hop open the car door saying welcome home.

I am enjoying each and every response! Keep them coming! :thumbsup2

For me it is right at the airport as soon as we land....then the Starbucks line (my dh would never be patient in a Starbucks line unless we were on vacation)...then driving through the arch....we usually have portable radios to communicate with the other families travelling with us (in other rental cars) and it is a race to see who calls first with the "are your ears on? We are ON PROPERTY!" OF course those are virtual ears, we are not that crazy !!!

How sappy does that sound? And to think we don't even go to the parks that often anymore ! Just love the place I guess !

Just like the rest of you I have a lot of the same Welcome Home feelings.
1. Seeing the WDW Welcome sign.:welcome:
2. Dinner at San Angel in Epcot, this restaurant always reminds us of our
1st trip before the kiddies.:lovestruc
3. Also a pint at Rose and Crown in Epcot.:drinking1

This coming trip will be our first as DVC members:cool1: , I'll probably have more to add after October.:ssst:
