We own at the Beach Club Villas, and I know I'm home when I smell that smell while walking in the courtyard to the Villas and see the Ariel statue.

I'd love to hear from others about when you know you're really home.

Riding the tram from the airport gate to the main terminal ...

Can't help but smile when seeing those palm trees on the way to the main terminal!

At the airport. Soon as I see all the theme park stores -- for Universal, Sea World and Disney -- I know I'm back. :goodvibes

Doesn't matter what resort I'm staying at, as soon as we pass through the Disney arch, I'm "home!":goodvibes

Same here! I love driving under the WDW arch.

It's when I go to register and my wife goes to the Conch Flats General Store!:thumbsup2

That's it for me too! I tell DW we're home every time.

When we leave :guilty: after trip I feign choking on the poor air quality of real life after passing under the arch again! ;)

Also, when we :car: I feel extra close when I pass under a certain blue overpass on the turnpike...I don't know why, but that overpass always let's me know we're so close to being home again!

It's funny you should mention smells-when I'm at BCV, I know I'm home when the automatic doors open to BCV, I step inside, inhale deeply, and smell-I don't know what it is, furniture polish or something. All I know is that I stop and smile. My apologizes to anyone walking in back of me when I stop suddenly.
When DH and I are at OKW, I know I'm home when I go out on the big balcony of our villa and sit at the table.

So many moments....but not till I get into my room....do I feel I am completely "home".

Other things that get me excited.
Ride on ME to resort.
After I check in and figure out where my room will be.
Walk around and just "smell" Disney.

When I get to my room, call for and receive my luggage....go on balcony and soak up the view....NOW I'M HOME:goodvibes :cloud9:

I know I am finally home when I turn onto Timberline Drive, drive under the Wilderness Lodge arch, and hear the security guards say "welcome home."

Thanks for all the responses- they're helping me take a mental vacation! Happy anniversary, Jenna.

I start crying everytime. My DH just looks at me like .

There are so many distinct smells! Especially on rides like POTC, HM, and Spaceship Earth. Sometimes I'll smell something that reminds me of Disney, and I'll immediately be taken to my "happy place.":rotfl:

We always come in fairly late from the west coast, so while at MCO it starts to build, for me that is not it because we always stay at an offsite hotel the first night.

So I think it really starts to build when we hit the front entrance and the gate lifts and the guard says welcome home.

Then even more when we check in, when the kids sit down to watch the old cartoons and we walk around the gift shop and pool after checking in.

But when I really feel it is when we get into the room and I can walk out to the balcony and check out the sites. Then the real part of the vacation starts.

Sorry, I'm still a sucker for the "Welcome Home" from the guard at the OKW gate. It's the same now as it was the 1st time in 2000. I go to check in and the kids head off to the TV showing cartoons! Only 13 more days! :cheer2: :rotfl: :yay:
