is this just upon check-in and how soon do you get your tickets and package stuff from Disney?
I've recvd the reservation # and confirmation stuff-but am used to DCL (cruises) and you know your room # when you book.
I wonder why they don't observe the same guidelines w/their resorts as they do their staterooms on the ships. ???

They don't follow the same guidelines with the resorts because there are just too many variables. The staterooms on a ship can be alloted very easily. There are only so many in each catagory. But resort rooms number in the thousands. They don't know until the day before sometimes what rooms will be vacant and which won't.

So, when you check in, you'll get your room number. If you have booked a package, then that is when you will get park passes and any info you will need for your vacation.

I think they don't give you your room number prior to check-in due to the fact that they need to wait for someone to check out. Some vacationers might decide to stay an extra day or two and it would be foolish to have them move to another room. Or they might have a problem with the room that needs to be fixed and then would not be able to put you in that room.

Besides, it might work out in your favor. When you check-in, they may even upgrade you. We have been upgraded twice! Without even asking!

*fyi*
You can request a certain building, floor, etc. They make no guarantees but will try to accomodate your request as best they can.

I appreciate the info, just curious.
Thanks again,

When your room isn't ready when you check in, you won't get your room number until you can actually get in the room. Sometimes hours later.......

That 3 p.m. check in thing.........not always. We have waited until well past 6 p.m. for a room before.

but it is not that bad. Here is how it works, you check in (check in time is 3, but you can check in anytime). They'll give you your keys to the kingdom (your park pass and room key are the same) and a piece of paper with a phone number you can call to see when your room is ready. You can put your luggage at bell services and go ahead to the parks or whatever you want to do. Periodically call and check to see if your room is ready. When it is, you can proceed to your room and call bell services to deliver your luggage. If you are staying at a moderate this may or may not be a wait. We have found it just as easy to stop by bell services and pick up our luggage on our way to our room to avoid a wait. :earsboy: It doesn't matter what room you have in advance as room requests are honored if they can, and not promised.

I have a different question. When they give you the piece of paper with the number to call to check on your room being ready, are there phones in the parks that you can use that go directly to the resort your staying at? :confused3

Y6u can call from Guest Relations at any of the parks. You can also call from City Hall in MK.

We actually requested the samr bldg. and room # at the Poly for this Oct., we just love the view. Of course we realize there's no guarantee of getting it, but it's worth a shot.

Also for security. There are a few wackos in the world. If someone was assigned a room number for what would be their "idea" of the perfect room, and they arrive at 8am only to find that the people from the previous night are still in the room, they may try to confront them "We're here now, this is MY room!"
