So what's the story with the preacher's wife?

O.k. its being reported that the kids/girls were IN the home at the time of the crime-sad. The dh's parents have received temp. custody of the (3) girls-good. OMGosh.

I know Nancy Grace is not the final say, but IF this is true....

Hi, just saw the 9:00 news. They showed pretty much the same as the national channels. The reporter did say that the police do have a motive, but aren't saying. The police did say that it is not infidelity, but wouldn't comment when asked if abuse was possible. The reporter said that the Mom is going back tomorrow & the grandparents got the children today. Maybe he was abusing the kids or something!

I don't know why. but my first thought was sexual abuse of the children. I guess I want to believe that she was somehow protecting the kids---motherly instinct and all that. I know I can be really naive sometimes, but she looks so sweet in the pic.

That was my first thought too...

I used to be Catholic with all their sexual abuse problems
now that I've been going to a Protestant-Baptist church, I find the pastors
abuse their wives, what's left. :rotfl:

(mind you I am joking!)

I think this may be it. I am guessing, but I just have a gut feeling.

Sadly, situations like this most often include some form of spousal abuse (emotional or physical). Even women who "snap" (ie Andrea Yates) are often involved in a relationship with a domineering and controlling spouse. I don't think people often just snap -go postal -flip out -insert you favorite euphemism here -in a vacuum.

Now let me back up and say... this is all just wild speculation in this specific case, because no details have really been released.

This is such a sad story. Those poor children.

I agree with "Zippa" -
My first instinct when I saw her on one news story walking out in her prison garb and in her mug shot was that it was some sort of domestic abuse - there was just something in her face - I don't know total gut instinct. Emotional abuse leaves no scares, and from personal experience - those around you many times just don't know that anything is going on - "behind closed doors" - and you have no bruises or scars to prove it!

It's the "normal" or "sweet" ones that you have to watch out for...they typically have the darkest closets.

Maybe she was cheating with one of the church elders and wanted to run off with her lover!?!?! Scandelous!!!!!

It's so hard to tell. The police know why, but they're keeping it tight right now.

Some kind of abuse is my guess, but it's hard to tell. I think if she was running off with someone, he would've been found with her.

I'm thinking more along the lines of "I'm leaving you for Ed!"..."oh, no you're not! We have 4 kids!"..."Get out of my way!"..."No!"...BANG!!!!

Then she calls Ed: "I just killed him, now we can run away like we always wanted!"..."Um...lose my number...there's no Ed here"...click

There was a little church around here where the the pastor was having sex with a bunch of the women he was "counseling" and it was odd that no one in the congregation seemed to have a clue until it all blew up. The wife found out and exposed him. He quit in discrace, yada yada yada. No violence, but you can see how that kind of thing could get ugly.

Wow, this story is probably not nearly as interesting as we are making it! She's probably just a loon.

I too have thought this since they reported he was shot and the mom and kids were missing. For the children's sake I hope it isn't this. Also, the fact members of his church saying he was "super charismatic" just bothers me. I've always been leary of ministers who are "super charismatic"

 Good one!

I guess I don't understand why they would be witholding the motive if she's already confessed, unless...there is someone else involved they haven't caught yet. make of that what you will.

Well, I surfed the news channels on t.v. this morning and there's no NEW news. I haven't checked the www, but I'm sure we won't know any thing further until Monday. This whole event is like a soap opera. You get the cliff hanger on Friday and have to wait until Monday to see what happens. I DISsed so long last night that my eyesight is fuzzy right now..either that or I need to clean my glasses again. Any way, I look forward to checking in on this thread later today when my eyes are better.

Yes, there may be an accomplice. Ugh, is it Monday yet?!

Because police, the FBI, and law enforcement agencies generally do not release the names of children who have been abused. It would be very difficult, if these children have been abused, to release her motive (if that is her motive) without compromising the privacy of the innocents involved.

I'm feeling very sad, especially for the kids. They lost their father thru murder, mother because she did what she did and now has to go to jail for a long time, and this may have strained their relationship with God.

Just tragic all around... :(

My dh just told me that on yahoo news he read the other day, that the pastor, wife, and their kids were staying in a home/cottage-type place for a church retreat when this happened. I am wondering if another person is involved with the wife to kill her dh? And I can't imagine how the wife and the girls were able to escape so fast and get to AL so fast when this happened, being a church retreat- that other people are close in vacinity to them? I guess we will all eventually find out sooner or later what happened.
