So what's the consensus on the new 7 dwarfs attraction?

My question is this:
1. The idea of a coaster is old technology
2. Projection faces is old technology (think Mr Potato head in Toy story mania)
3. Animitronics are old technology
4. Grass/vegetation on top of a structure is old technology
5. LED lights are old technology
6. Swivel cars on a coaster is old technology (patented in 1928)

What was so new about this? Did it really take that much imagineering to make this ride? If this is the newest and greatest out of Imagineering...it seems like there is a dry spell.

I was just expecting something new...ANYTHING.

I'm familiar with the success of Single Rider Line use. So I wonder why in the world a CM told me on RnRc that "the single rider line was shut down because it's too busy."

Isn't that the point of SR? Fill up the empty pairs? That was a first for me. :confused3

It could be that the SRL itself was too busy. Of the 3 rides at WDW with SRL, RnRc's single rider line has more than once ended up having a longer wait than waiting in the normal standby line.

It could be that the SRL itself was too busy.

:offtopic: but I agree. I suppose there's also a chance they shut it down to make way for a celebrity entourage or a CM trainee.
CM's who know what they are doing are easily able to send enough folks into the final loading area that they are three car loads deep (3 trains deep? 3 limos deep, in the case of RnRC?). It doesn't seem like it's all that hard to keep the flow going and figuring in your head how to load two bodies two to a row. It's a bit like the old game Tetris. The hard part is getting guests to follow the directions you are giving.

Dying to try it! Might be uncomfortable because we are tall, but have been waiting for this a while!:cool1:

Wish there could have been a bit more leg room for adults!:confused3

That's just not a priority when dwarfs build a train. :duck:

My son enjoyed the ride for me it was an ok ride. We just back today and rode it on Thursday the 12th of June and the 14th.

Both of us thought it was just to short of a ride. The wait times are 100 minutes and the ride is like a minute or two at most.

It was a smooth and nice ride. Got quick and some nice turns. They tunnel was cool with effects.

I think the thing that turned it off for me and others that i talked to while there were the carts. They are just to narrow. I had read about it before and I think there were to many people underselling how tight those cars are. They really have to do some work on those. I will not ride it again if they don't come up with something. It was very uncomfortable.

I was talking with a CM working the ride and she said they have had a lot of complaints from people about that.

Oh, don't worry , it's fine. Plenty of room. Much more room than Harry Potter.

And FP+ rulez!!!

But anyway,

It was clear as soon as pictures showed the cars. And I don't see how Disney fixes it.

Rows 1-5 boring and slow. Rows 6-10 fun and fast. The cottage scene seems to be down a lot off and on. Seat is narrow but seems worse when i am next to a stranger.

We thought it was cute as a family coaster. I don't think I would do it unless I was using FP+ for it (or there was a 15 min or less wait) but then again, I don't like to wait for anything. We sat in the front seat and felt minimal swinging movement from the cars. The seats were super uncomfortable and the guys behind my mom & I were complaining as they were trying to get out of their seats. My DH (6'3 300lbs huge football build) & DH (6' 175lb bball player build) both complained about how tight it was as they rode before us (we used Rider Switch). Poor DH had bruises along the sides of his legs from it. I don't think he will be on it again until our little princess (10months) is tall enough for it and then he will take one for the team, lol.

We all commented on how smooth it was and enjoyed that part as well as the views of Fantasyland being nice. Would have liked to see it be a little longer and maybe some more "theming" on the outside portions. Overall, it was nothing spectacular but rather it is a kid coaster that mom and dad can squeeze into for a couple minutes to make their little ones happy.

We loved it. Especially because we sat on it during a soft opening over the Memorial Day weekend, the night before we were leaving WDW. It was unexpected to be able to ride it. We sat on it at night, would love to ride it again during the daylight to see "outside". DD and I sat in the last car. We felt the dips and turns. Wish I had my camera ready to take pics when we entered the "mine". The jewels were nicely done and took lots of pics of the cottage scene while we were waiting to get off the ride.

One poster mentioned broken effects, such as in the cottage scene. Have they been repaired?
I'm glad you mentioned this. I just got back and noticed Sunday night - 6/8 - that Snow White and Dopey were definitely NOT dancing and by the end of my trip (6/15) they were STILL not moving.

We rode fast pass on Friday. Less than a 10 -15 minute wait. It was also during the day. It was neat during the day as well. Although at the end of the ride you can't quite see in the cottage at the end with Snow White and the dwarfs. Last night we stayed out for EMH. Best time to ride. We got in line about 1:15 am. Cast members were saying a 45 minute wait, stand by sign said 55 minutes. We finally got on ride about 1:45 am. The cottage was really lit up well and could see what I missed during the day plus you get to see all the interactive stuff that is not in the fast pass line. All lines through the week, the wait times were at 90 minutes or longer. Its a fun ride but I would never stand in line for that long of a wait.

YES!!! Those seats TINY and uncomfortable!
tell me about. My knees were so tight together it was crazy. Couldn't even get my bag in the little pocket. Lol DH and I could never ride in the same bucket.

Also beware the hats will fly off. I had a visor on thinking nothing of it and it flew off. Luckily my DH was behind me and he caught it.

How tall? I am 6' and DH is 6'5" and we were fine. But we had front row, if that makes a difference. (?)

As far as width, I found it to be slightly less snug than 2 adults in a Dumbo.

DH is 6'3 but slim....I have read many posts saying uncomfortable...:confused3

May be a silly question, but while "loading" can we WAIT for a front row?

THANKS!:thumbsup2

I didn't want to start a new thread for this question. This seemed like the best place to ask this...

DW is perfect for our family trip. We have a mix of people, me that will ride anything but doesn't really have to anymore, DS13 that wants to but has now picked his favorites, DD17 with special needs that wants to try some "grown up" rides now but in all reality is afraid of heights and will not like the big coasters... and then there's my DH.. love him.. he's not a ride person.. at all. He's terribly afraid of heights and any ride he sees as unsafe. Like the last time we went he was a little upset that I didn't tell him Peter Pan was up in the air :confused3 Honestly never even crossed my mind. For the record, he's gone on POTC and Splash Mtn and been fine. Again, since I don't have the same fears it's hard for me to predict what will be a problem.. Maybe the water makes it OK. His favorite rides are LWTL and KS.

Anyway, he saw videos on YouTube of the 7DMT and he's decided he doesn't like it. Too fast, too high a drop. For the record, he would never go on Barnstormer or Primeval Whirl, but I figure it's more about the perceived heights with those. 7DMT seems more like it's "connected" to the ground to me.

So what do you think? I've asked him to hold judgement until he sees it in person. Given the info I've shared, especially for those who've ridden it but aren't really coaster people, should I just give up and accept it? Is it really tame, and I should continue to try and talk him into it? I'm not one to force a ride on anyone, it's his vacation after all. I just hate to see him skip something he might really enjoy. TIA

We loved the ride! It was so smooth and I think a lot of people who have issues with rougher coasters will feel safer on this. The theming is awesome. I was lucky to grab a FP for it the first day they went up (I already had my other FPs - our trip was just a few weeks away when the FPs went up).

It seems to me that if someone enjoys BTMRR they would really like 7DMT but obviously everyone has their own perceptions on that.

As for the bucket seats - all I can say is that they are odd and I'm confused about why they'd use that style. A link to my current (ongoing) trip report is in my signature so you can see pics of me and my family. I'm not skinny but I'm pretty average. I fit fine in the seats and wasn't uncomfortable at all BUT they felt odd. And if I was 25 or 30 pounds heavier I think I would have been very miserable. Doesn't ruin the ride but it does sort of make you feel like you're riding in a child's seat. :confused3
