so what if there's a hurricane....

I think this is officially the most confused I've ever been. We had our family discussion of this last night and all that did was confuse DH and my mom. I was hoping one of them would bring up some profound point that would make me "see the light" one way or the other, but all they could say is "I don't know, it's tough" I'm already nervous about the flight I don't need any threats of weather issues. I think maybe we should stick with October. I voted for both but they just looked at me like I was crazy.

I was in a hurricane in mid-October while on vacation in Mexico. The only bad day was the day of the hurricane. The weather all the days before and after were beautiful.

I say go and don't worry too much about it. From what I understand hurricanes coming as far inland as Orlando don't happen that often so more than likely there won't be any problems this year. Mother Nature is unpredictable and she could cause you trouble in October just as easily as August, but at least if you go in Aug you get to eat for FREE!

I just noticed that you live in NJ...you should have a What me Worry? attitude. If you've lived in NJ for a while you must be aware that hurricanes trek through there too. No you don't have a target painted on your back like Florida but I grew up on Long Island and spent my adult years in NJ...seems like every so often there is a hurricane and in the "offseason" Nor'easters and blizzards. I would figure any hurricane hitting Central Florida would more likely be category 1 or 2 in strength by the time it crosses over just like it would back in Joisey. Now if you are driving you probably should be a bit more worried about it.

No matter where you go in this great country of ours some force of nature is out to get you so why worry?

Although I am also concerned about Hurricanes I am thinking positive thoughts because I went in August two and three years ago and had great (hot but not too rainy at least :cool1: ) weather. Mom of two princesses princess: princess:

LOL, I've lived in NJ all my life so yes I've my tiny hurricane experiences(I used to be a 411 operator and even worked through one, people called for the craziest things). I wouldn't mind a hurricane at home, but I would feel like a dork if I change to August and then our vacation is ruined. Well, I've decided to stick with Oct. I know it's possible to have bad weather then too, but hey, I live close to Atlantic City so I'm gonna gamble. It's funny when you wrote "Joisey" it reminded me of something. I went to a private high school in Philadelphia even though I lived in NJ(it's only like 20 min) and my friends teased me about saying that all the time(I don't think I say it that way) and at then end of senior year they had actually found a T shirt that says New Joisey on it. I wonder where it is now. Oh well, thanks to all for the help, but I'll be there in OCTOBER. Anyone wanna join us?

ETA: I wiwll still be praying for great weather for all who are still going at that time. Have Fun. I'll be watching the forecast
