So What Do Your Kids Want for Christmas?

Well, I just got an update from DD 15 and a new digital camera is on her list. Yikes, I better go and re read that post on Sony vs. Cannon.

We exchange gifts that come from the heart, not from some idealized list of demands/expectations.................................. :

BTW - Giving gifts is just one part of the season for our family and I respect your opinion regarding gift giving, but you need to respect mine as well. :grouphug:

DS 8 wants a Nintendo DS, DD 5, wants the Cinderella magical vanity, DS 5, wants a new bike.

DD8 wants American Girl Doll "Felicity"....and a host of other things from the AG "Wishes 2005" catalog that just came in the mail yesterday. DD5 wants to go a different route - she wants the "Disney's Favorite Girl" (Disney's spinoff of American Girl I guess) and some things for her Bitty Baby.

My 2yr old would like anything Dora The Explorer - which is good because we don't have any Dora things, so it will be easy to make her X-Mas list :teeth: .

My 7yr old is going to be the difficult one - I have no idea yet what she wants. :confused3

So far here's the list for the little ones:

Ds (5) - whatever Wiggles stuff he doesn't already have, a drum set, Wiggles costume, tv and dvd player (mickey ones) and a new bike.

Dd (6) - Belle's red dress and cape, Princess AUrora deluxe dress, Cinderellebration deluxe dress, Bitty baby deluxe set, bitty baby crib, mobile, high chair and stroller, bitty baby clothes, Mary Kate and Ashley dvds, princess dvd player, arts and crafts things and a cd personal player with cds.

Dd (8) - desk, new rug for room, Cinderellebrtation dress, American girl dolls (Elizabeth and Samantha) bed and school desk for AG dolls, doll clothes, Body and Bath AG collection, gba games, cds, dvds, arts and craft things.

Olders kids get - money, clothes, gift cards dvd, etc.

DD(she will be 21 mths)-anything age appropriate. She has almost no toys so it will be easy. She loves Jo Jo.
DD6 She wants the American Girls Felicity and Elizabeth,Samantha's bed,art stuff, and the Star Station.I will get her some and her grandparents will get some of it.
DS8 and DS10-I am at a lost. They have mentioned nothing that they want. They had a really big Christmas last year and got the one thing that they really wanted(dirtbike and fourwheeler),They say that they don't need anything else.I will order them some new PS2 games off Toys r Us.They are Buy 2 get one Free.

DD11 wants a silver cross necklace and a watch. She usually does not ask for too much to be honest.

Nuclear Powered Ipods that walk the dog, fetch the paper & scrub the freakin' toilet.....................

'Course, it's not gonna' happen..........................

If you have a problem with this thread then you might want to skip it. The title of it asks what kids want for Christmas.

The quote the person you responed to had been asking about (does that make sense??) was saying that her DD GOT this and that and such and such was coming. That is why this poster was confused--because the thread is on what the kids want for Christmas not what they already got or have. :wave2:

On to the orig question
DD9 wants anything and everything American Girl. She is getting a doll from us though Grandma is mad because she wanted to get her one--can't say the word I need here on the board ;) --I do need to come up with something cool for Granma to give her and I am thinking a Fur Real Puppy. She also wants a Gameboy SP but already has a Gameboy Advance and I don't see a big difference between them and i think she would be disappointed. She would also like a gift card to Barnes and Noble because she is as obsessed with books as her mommy.

DSs 4 and 5 basically want the same stuff. DS (almost 4) is getting a Leapster for his birthday which is next week. EVeryone is getting a Leappad book or Leapster game. Other than that the boys pretty much will be happy with anything Hotwheels or Matchbox. I am thinking of asking a friend's DH to build us a train table as I think DS 4 would like that. I am still on the lookout for the "big one" for these two. They will be psyched about anything though, it's just me that puts the pressure on myself.

And for the record, we spend the month of Dec putting thankfulness slips into a jar(I write the boys' for them every night at dinner) and then on Christmas eve after church when we are eating our Happy Birthday Jesus cake we read all of the things we are each thankful for. AND, my mother in law who is an atheist, also gives all of her gifts from the heart and her main focus is on spending time at the holidays with her family. So, don't worry about our materialism......

QUOTE]

No she wasn't. She went on in another post lambasting anything materialistic and calling it a gift orgy. She wasn't confused. When she said "I thought we were talking about Christmas" she meant about the reason for the season and not the gift buying. Read her other post and you will see.

I REALLY want to be done Christmas shopping by December 1st so that I can enjoy the month of December....yes, even though I am part of the "gift giving orgy" someone so nicely called it, I still do enjoy the holiday season doing family things also.....

MY DS8, so far has only asked for a disc-man (I didn't even think they still made them anymore...I am shocked he is not asking for an IPOD yet!!!) Other than that, I am just winging it at this point...,lots of Playstation 2 games and Game boy games until he mentions more things. Knowing him, he will tell me what he absolutely positiviely "needs" the week before....I am going to tell him that Santa needs to know his list by Thanksgiving at the latest!!!

As for DD6, she is so into "cool" clothes (as she calls them), jewlery and girly stuff.....she will be easy!!!

So, does anyone know what the "hottest" gifts this year Is? There is alwasy somethign that is the "have to have" for the holidays....I have no idea what it is this year?!?!?

Same here! My DD8 has also asked for one of these. Thank god she doesn't want an ipod because I have no idea how to use one - i am waiting for her to be old enough to show me!

That is exactly what I said to my DH last night. :)

I guess I should consider myself lucky that DD(6) wants that Floam stuff more than anything else! :rotfl:

I would let gramma get her one too -
a different one -
we ended up getting DD a second one on her b-day because Kit was lonely and needed someone to play with  (DH drew the line there though - $200 on 2 dolls was ridiculous - this froma man who took his son to the John Deere parts store and came home with an $85 grader that pushes dirt in the back yard!)

I BTW - I REALLY thought about this a while back...
we are almost forced to overinduldge our kids these days - society is not safe for kids to go for a walk into the woods, build tree houses, and skip rocks in a stream... can't squish penneys on the train tracks, and all the stuff we did when we were kids... no more -

Actually, in my town, the kids still do those things. And you can take them out and do those things with them.

Anyway, my 14 year old wants a trip to Europe! (He was invited to go on choral trip next summer....)

My 13 year old wants an electric guitar.

I don't know what my 11 year old wants. She just bought herself the Marisol doll and her birthday's in November too. I might get her an Ipod shuffle, since the boys have them but she really isn't interested.

And I might handcraft them some wooden toys so they know how much I love them....

My DS13 has asked for an ipod, a video camera, and clothes. DS8 has not asked for anything yet. I already bought them a skateboard ramp, some new basketballs and collector baseball card packs. What's up with the ipods anyway??? Are they expensive?? How do I know which one to buy for a 13 year old???

DS 11 has asked for MP3 player, video games, Stereo, Skateboard stuff

DD 9 has asked for Disney Mix Stick, Pixel Chix, American Girl Today doll that looks like her.

Well, it depends on your definition of expensive. Both my (young) teens have Ipod Shuffle. They are very basic. There are two sizes, depending on how much music they hold but they run about $100 and $150 dollars.

YOu can download your cds on your computer and make a music list. I think you have to use Itunes for that. Plus you can buy songs from Itunes. You plug the Ipod into the computer to download your music list.

My husband's Ipod mini can hold thousands of songs.
