"So what do you want to do next?" An April '10 TR...final thoughts 8/2 p. 63

Hi Sarah! Great update. You are going to be gone again in no time you lucky lady!

We were lucky to see Alice riding with some small children last May when we rode the teacups. I think it is the sweetest thing ever and you know those children had to be :cloud9:. Sooooo special!

Yup, getting pretty close to just 2 weeks! Can't wait! The only bad thing is that means school will be starting up again soon. :sad2:

I know, I would be so excited to do something like that. :goodvibes

Happy Friday!! Kind of a mixed happy Friday. As I mentioned in my PTR last night we had some CRAZY rain here in Milwaukee. I have honestly never seen anything like it in my life. Our street was so flooded for a while it looked like a raging river. :sad2: Not to mention we had some flooding in our basement...fortunately for the time being things have cleared up and the water is pretty much gone but it was nuts. Hopefully the rain tonight isn't going to be as bad as they are saying. So please send some pixie dust. :wizard: :)

Good news is before all the rain started yesterday I was able to do a couple more updates. So here we go...getting close to the end now! :guilty:

After finishing up a couple rides in Fantasyland we decided to go to Frontierland so we could ride a couple of our favorites one last time. Aww, I hate saying that!On the way I spotted Goofy and Donald. So cute in their western outfits. Love this picture. :)

When I say we were going to do a couple of our favorites I’m sure you all know which rides I’m talking about! First up was Splash Mountain!

28349_641341838854_20305212_36913173_1713915_n.jpg

The wait was pretty minimal which is always a bonus. I decided to pull out my camera again and try to snap some pictures during the ride. Remember I am a rule follower so no flashes for me which would explain why they stink. Oh well.

Ride photo!!

So to complete the triple mountain whammy again we headed next door for Thunder Mountain. The line was a little bit longer here. All of a sudden the line started moving really quickly, like they had just opened up more of the queue area. Well, turns out we were headed right back out. The ride was broken down! Boo! Guess we’d be one mountain shy of completing the triple crown. Oh well, there’s always the next trip (17 days!!!).

But since we were still in Frontierland we ended up taking a raft over to Tom Sawyer Island. Secretly I was hoping I would be able to find Tom Sawyer’s paintbrush (another reference to the Hidden Magic book in case you were wondering!!). According to the book if you find the brush and turn it in you get some sort of reward. OK I might be making that up but I’m pretty sure that’s what the deal is. As we were taking the short little raft ride over I was wondering how you control those things. I don’t know why but as I was watching the CMs, both on the way there and on the way back I kept thinking how you steer them. Maybe it’s really easy but I have a feeling I’d be bad at it. ANYWAYS…

I don’t have any pictures from the island but Dad and I had fun exploring all the little forts and caves. Dad was bummed the barrel bridge was closed. Be warned, if you have never gone to TSI some of the caves make for a very tight squeeze! Not to mention the further in you go the darker it gets. It’s still pretty fun though. Oh, and we didn’t find the paintbrush but saw some guy walking around with it in his back pocket. So it really does exist.

After exploring the island we took the train over to Toontown Fair. Still kind of sad how soon it’s all going to be gone. :( So we took a quick tour through Minnie’s House. I forget what exactly I was looking at but in the house there are railings to keep you from touching certain things. Well, I started leaning over one of them and must’ve set off some alarm. WHOOPS!!! Note to self, don’t lean over railings anymore. Hehe

One of the fun things about Minnie’s house is her little greenhouse/sun room/whatever you want to call it. She grows all kinds of flowers there, like two lips and dandy lions. Oh yes, and her palm tree. Nice.

And since I can’t go anywhere without going into a shop we made a quick stop in County Bounty. I didn’t buy anything but built a Mr. Potato Head. He’s pretty cool.

Cont’d in next post…

Sunday, April 11, 2010 cont'd (part 3)

After browsing the store we said good-bye to Toontown and slowly started making our way back towards Main Street. But not before stopping for some lunch at Casey’s Corner. No trip is complete without getting a hot dog from there.

When we were done eating we had pretty much done everything we wanted to. So it was time for that dreaded last walk out of the park. It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve been there-- it always stinks leaving any Disney park, especially the Magic Kingdom, for the last time. I hate it so much I can’t even bear to turn around and get one last glance of the castle. I know that sounds stupid but it’s just so sad! It also explains the lack of pictures too. And it didn’t help that some of the Main Street performers were out there singing. Sigh.

We did stop for a photopass picture outside the entrance though. I managed a good fake smile I think, especially when the photographer told us to do a “YAY, I’M IN DISNEY WORLD!” pose. Oh yes, he also had us do one where we pretended to hold balloons (another one of those magic shots) but it never made it onto our account. Hmmm.

Instead of going back to Kidani right away we decided to use the time to go visit some of the other resorts. I mentioned in my PTR how we had never been to the Grand Floridian, other than to see the Christmas decorations, so I wanted to go see the OUTSIDE of the resort. OK, and then there’s the whole Full House connection too. So we went to wait for the resort monorail. Here it comes!

28349_641341888754_20305212_36913182_1631224_n.jpg

But if you take the resort monorail, the GF is the last stop before the Magic Kingdom. When we pulled into the Polynesian station I told Dad we should get off. Nothing better than reminiscing about past trips on the last day!

As we disembarked (hahahaha) and headed into the Great Ceremonial House it reminded me of when I was younger and all those times we stayed there. Just visiting there kind of lifted my spirits. We went outside to look at the pool and then walked back to the “elliptical” pool where we went swimming a lot. A few shots of the Poly…don’t know why I didn’t take more!

The little duck family was so cute.

The yellow on this tree was amazing.

We also stopped in the gift shop where I bought a Polynesian postcard before returning to the monorail platform to stop at the GF.

It was neat visiting the Grand Floridian and wandering around there. I had another Full House flashback when we went out the main building near the lagoon because I remember that scene where Danny gives everyone their own personalized itineraries. I am so obsessed. And a couple pictures from our walk:

After our mini resort tour we rode the monorail back to the MK to get a bus back to Kidani.

Up next: Which other resort did we end up visiting that night and how much did I buy at Downtown Disney????

I love your Poly pics :thumbsup2
I kept thinking about the Full House WDW episode where they stay at the GF when we stayed at the Floridian last trip. I thought it was pretty cool (:

I love that episode!! That and the STEP BY STEP episode when they stay at the OKW resort and watch the fireworks at Epcot.....OMG, I watch TOO MUCH tv...:happytv:

I don't really remember that Full House episode! I have to find it on YouTube or something....you cracked me up with your "I'm obsessed" comment. :lmao:

The yellow on the tree is beautiful! I love that you stopped at the Poly and reminisced a bit.

Do you know when Toontown is supposed to close?

Great picture with Goofy and Donald!:goodvibes Yay for riding Splash again...love that ride! Sorry BTMRR was down.:sad2: Aww...I really wanted to try TSI on our trip. It sounds like so much fun! Maybe I can convince the boys next trip by telling them about the paintbrush.:thumbsup2 I love all your pics of the Poly and GF. Too funny about the Full House episode! I remember that episode.:rotfl:

That's great that you got to visit the Polynessian and the Grand Floridian. Gotta love those Full House flashbacks.

I've seen Donald's costume before, but Goofy's Frontierland outfit is sooo cute!

Great Poly & GF pics. Those resorts are just heaven :cloud9: Haha I was obsessed with Full House too and the Disney episode was one of my favorites, hands down. So I'll never get tired of your references to it :upsidedow

So glad you survived the rain. Bummer to hear about the water in your basement. I've never seen anything like that before. I got caught on 43 on the way home. It took me just over 3 hrs. to get home! Yeesh!

Love the full house reference. The GF always brings back Full House memories for me. I can usually identify the episode with the first line... I feel you with the obsessed remark :cutie:

So sad for the last MK visit of the trip. Doesn't it help when you have another one coming up so fast?

I love your Poly pics :thumbsup2

I have never seen the Step by Step show. Might have to youtube that. LOL.

:eek: You don't really remember the Disney Full House?! It is a two-parter and they are the greatest ones! :goodvibes Of course I love Full House...I own all 8 seasons on DVD. :rolleyes1 And even have one of them signed by Jodie Sweetin aka Stephanie!

Thanks! I loved how that one turned out. It did stink BTMRR broke down. Atleast we had ridden it earlier in the trip. I think you should do TSI. Your boys would have a lot of fun!

Yes, it was fun visiting the resorts. And Full House is the greatest TV show ever.:rolleyes:

We LOVE the Poly so it was nice visiting again and it was cool to walk around outside the GF. Another really pretty resort. Glad you won't get sick of my Full House references. :teeth:

So sad for the last MK visit of the trip. Doesn't it help when you have another one coming up so fast?

Ugh, I am just so glad it's over! The picture on the front page of the Journal Sentinel was NUTS!:scared1: And I thought our street was bad! I was actually supposed to go into work that night. So glad they ended up telling me I didn't have to. Even though I only live about five minutes from where I work I can't imagine how long it would've taken me to get home with all the flooding. Probably not 3 hours but longer than it should!

Oh, I can identify a lot of the Full House episodes by the first line or atleast within the first few seconds. It is pretty sad actually. :rolleyes1

It definitely helps that we're going back in just a couple of weeks. It was so sad just writing that MK update!

Sorry to hear about the rain in your basement. pixiedust: Hope everything's been fine since!

I'm almost positive if you turn in the paintbrush you get fastpasses for something.

I'm bummed Toontown will be closed before we get there in November. It would have been nice to see it one more time. :sad1:

:teeth: Very snazzy spud.

Beautiful shots of the Poly. :goodvibes: I am soooo going to have to youtube those Full House episodes. ;)

Thanks Tracy! We did get some more rain last night but no more flooding. :) But we do have quite the pile of stuff out by the street (luckily nothing too valuable, just a lot of junk!). Today was a pretty nice day and tomorrow's supposed to be nice too. :thumbsup2

Yeah, that is what I thought I read too about the paintbrush.

I felt that since we rarely go to Toontown we should go visit it before it closes.

Glad you liked the Poly pictures!

I love the Full House episode! The great thing about owning the DVDs is that I can watch it when I want!!! I was thinking about putting it on this week/weekend to prepare for the trip in 2 weeks! Did you go down the stairs that DJ and Kimmy went down when they saw Steve checking it?!

A few years ago we were walking down the stairs and I was telling my mom about Full House and a CM came up behind us and laughed and said EVERYONE mentions Full House and these stairs!!

Flooding is the pitts. :sad2:

I love the Full House and Step by Step episodes. I thought it was just me....watching all those episodes. :rolleyes1

haha, no, we didn't see the stairs but I was kind of thinking about that. That scene is hilarious when Steve trips over his bag. :lmao: That is too funny that the CM said how everyone talks about Full House. Atleast we know it's not just us. haha

It sure is. And now I hear that Chicago got the same storm system and there was some dam that broke in Iowa. :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Oh no, it's not just you. ;) I have to watch the Boy Meets World one sometime...

Hey Sarah, hope all is well!!! Just stopped by to say it's almost time for Disney and WWOHP!!! YAY!!!! :cool1::yay: :woohoo:

Hi Reese! Things are better now that all the rain is gone! Can't believe we're only 2 WEEKS away! :yay::woohoo::dance3:

Hi Reese! Things are better now that all the rain is gone! Can't believe we're only 2 WEEKS away! :yay::woohoo::dance3:

I bet!!! It has been so HOT here that we have been having some wicked storms here too!

YAY for 2 weeks!!! I keep thinking that I still have 3 weeks to go but really it's only like 2 weeks and a few days!!!

Aww, how cute that your dad got in the pic with western Goofy and Donald!

I've never actually see that Splash Mountain sign in real life. I've only seen it in pictures! I think it's always rush-rush-rush there or such high crowds, that that's something I've missed each time. I'll have to keep an eye out next time; it's really cute!

I can't wait to explore the caves on Tom Sawyer's Island! I think I'd need a flashlight though ... haha. I'm sure I'd get kind of scared because of how I imagined it when I read Tom Sawyer in the 5th grade!

:rolleyes1 Nope! I don't remember it at all! I YouTubed what I could find, but it was only short clips. Gotta check Netflix yet! ;)
