"So what do you want to do next?" An April '10 TR...final thoughts 8/2 p. 63

Wednesday, April 7, 2010 cont'd (part 7)

So after our character meet and greet over at Innoventions we decided to head over to...

24977_634674470314_20305212_36675240_2921745_n.jpg

The Seas with Nemo and Friends! One of the things I really wanted to do on this trip was spend some more time looking at the various exhibits in the aquarium. My sisters don't really care for that kind of stuff so this was the perfect opportunity since Dad is willing to do whatever. We ended up bypassing the ride (even though I enjoy it!) and just headed straight for the aquariums.

Now this is where I started having my Full House flashbacks. If you haven't already figured it out, I LOVE Full House, especially the Disney episode! There are a couple of scenes in the show where Jesse and Joey are doing their radio show from underwater, or as Jesse says, in the "world's largest bowl of clam chowder." :lmao: See, told you I was obsessed. All I needed to see was the "bubble" that they were sitting in, haha but I guess they must've taken that out. Who knows. There were a few sharks swimming around too which again reminded me of that episode where Joey starts freaking out because he thinks the shark is going to eat him and wants to order a pizza. Ahhh good times. Great show. I'll stop with the FH references. For now atleast. ;)

As we were looking at the fish I also spotted a Hidden Mickey at the bottom of one of the tanks:

24977_634674485284_20305212_36675243_3584276_n.jpg

One other kind of funny thing we saw were some fish chases. There were these couple of fish that would start chasing littler fish and then they'd just stop. Very bizarre but amusing.

Our next stop was to see the manatees. All the green stuff floating in the water is lettuce!

24977_634674495264_20305212_36675245_5989987_n.jpg

Then we headed downstairs and went in to look at all the Nemo fish. It was so cute listening to all the kids (and some adults!) saying "There's Nemo!" or "There's Bubbles!" (the yellow fish who lives in the tank at the dentist's office). I found Nemo myself, actually.

One of the other things in that area was a station where you could take a quiz about sharks. I decided to give it a try. There were 7 different questions about sharks, like what are baby sharks called and how many different types of sharks are there. I think I impressed Dad because I got 6 out of the 7 questions right. :teeth: He kept asking me how I knew all that stuff...it was actually pretty funny because at school I read a book about sharks with some of the fourth graders. Guess I wasn't the only one who learned something from that book.

After taking the quiz it told me I was Anchor, so I had to get a picture with him.

Once we were done exploring we made our way to the front of the park to pick up our Visa photo. I know I already said this but it really is a great little secret if you have a Disney Visa. We were able to view our photos right away. The CM showed us all the different shots (there were atleast 3 or 4). We were then able to pick out a border if we wanted and then they print it right away. It turned out really cute! If I get around to scanning it I'll be sure to post it. Then it was off to the Boardwalk for Welcome Home Wednesdays!

Wow, I'm impressed with the pictures you got of the aquariums! I confess, although we stop to see them, we usually buzz past them quickly. We usually find Nemo and Dori and then we're off. We haven't seen the manatees at all though and that's a shame. Going on the list! :thumbsup2

Loved the hidden Mickey and Anchor! No Bruce teeth shot :teeth:?

Two updates in one day, pretty exciting, huh?!

On our way over to International Gateway we spotted the dolphin topiaries promoting the Oceans movie. I love how they look like they are leaping out of the "water."

Before long we were soaking up the beautiful sights of the Boardwalk. Seriously, the whole Epcot resort area is one of the best places on property. It's just so scenic with the Friendship boats shuttling people between parks/resorts, the surrey bikes (which I still HAVE to do!), and the Boardwalk itself. We loved staying at the BCV and my parents and sister enjoyed the BWV too (I can't wait until I get to stay there!).

24017_635209438234_20305212_36689222_1018774_n.jpg

As we got closer to the actual Boardwalk, Dad pointed our where their room was when they stayed at the BWV in January.

One of these was their balcony...right underneath the sign. I know they loved waking up to that view every morning and I can't say I blame them...who wouldn't want to wake up to the Beach Club and Spaceship Earth?!

I know I briefly talked about Welcome Home Wednesdays in my PTR but for those of you unfamiliar with it...basically every Wednesday afternoon (at 4:00 I believe it was) they host this event for Vacation Club members. It's just a fun little way to meet other DVC members and they have snacks and raffle prizes. Of course everyone gets a free gift too! I guess for some members it's a pretty big deal because there was already a line to get into the Dance Hall when we got there.

When they opened the doors we were given an entry form for the raffle prizes and a voucher for a free snack, either popcorn or Cracker Jack. They also had some hors d'ouvres from Wolfgang Puck. This was our second DVC event we've attended (we also went to the Merry Mixer that they have around the holidays). Let me just say they treat DVC members pretty good!

24017_635209453204_20305212_36689225_7537160_n.jpg

One of the other fun things about Welcome Home Wednesdays is that they have a little trivia game show where they ask random questions about being a DVC member. The host of the show is Miss DeeVee Cee, the First Lady of the Vacation Club. What can I say about DeeVee? Putting it nicely, she is quite the character. I should have taken a video of her but found this one on youtube instead. You'll notice she cracks some joke about Wisconsin (her story goes that she is from Wisconsin apparently) and how you should come smell our dairy air.:laughing: Yep, she told that one at the show too.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_RJ2Y-bzq4

The lady is just nutty! Imagine her talking like this for the good part of half an hour. Kind of funny at first but then it gets sort of obnoxious. LOL. She's just very screechy and over the top. Anyway, back to the show...they picked 4 people to participate (sadly, Dad and I weren't chosen) and they took turns choosing questions. Think Jeopardy. Anytime the contestants missed a question someone in the audience could try to answer it and get a prize. They ended with some raffle drawings. Some of the prizes were pretty cool...photopass sessions at one of the resorts as well as gift cards for some of the non-Disney stores at Downtown Disney. Again, no luck for me and Dad. :guilty: On the way out Dad took one of the free DVC hats. So overall it's a nice event if you're in DVC. I'd recommend going to it atleast once.

Even though we had been going since 7 am, we still had one more stop before we decided to call it a day...

Thanks...it did take quite a few shots though to get some decent ones. It's hard taking pictures with the glass. I found it best to put my camera right up to the glass and turn off the flash.

I know, I should've gotten a picture with Bruce but I think there were a ton of kids playing around there and I didn't want to wait. That'll have to go on the "photo scavenger hunt" for our next trip. I'm always trying to take new pictures!

Up to the glass and flash off -- duly noted. We've gotten a Bruce picture every year and tried to switch it up a little each time. :rotfl2:

Miss DeeVee Cee?! Oh my, what a hoot that video was, but yes I can see how thirty minutes would be a bit much. Dairy air! :lmao:

Ah the Boardwalk. :cloud9: Cannot wait to wander around there!

Great updates!:thumbsup2 I'm glad you enjoyed looking around the aquarium exhibits!:goodvibes We spent a lot of time doing that on last year's trip and I got a really cool video of one of the turtles swimming towards us! Oh and I remember that shark quiz...great job!:thumbsup2

Welcome Home Wednesday sounds fun!:) But...yeah..after watching the video, I could see where Miss DeeVee Cee could a little obnoxious after a while.

Great updates! I LOVE the Full House references, and I LOVE the Seas. I could sit in there for hours watching the manatees. I have pictures of them with big heads of lettuce in their mouths...too cute!

Oh, and Miss DeeVee Cee sure seems like quite the character.

The Full House Disney episode is my FAVORITE! I've seen it too many times(:
Welcome Home Wednesday sounds like fun and Miss DeeVee Cee seems like quite the entertainer

Great pictures at the Seas Sarah! Welcome Home Wednesday sounds like fun. I don't have it marked down in our schedule but I will make a note and if we have time, we may check it out. Joe would like another hat too so if he could get one, it would be worth the trip to him.

I LOVE the disney Full House episodes. I remember watching Full House every day hoping those would be the ones they'd air.

Agreed, I love walking around the Boardwalk. It's so scenic & beautiful there :cloud9:

And what can I say about Miss DeeVee Cee that hasn't already been said? :lmao:

Great updates! I totally have Full House flashbacks every time I see the aquariums at Living Seas too. And I have Boy Meets World flash backs when I see the fountains by Spaceship earth. Ahh... TGIF!

We'll have to check out Welcome Home Wednesdays... they sound like fun.

I love Full House too!! I have all the DVDs :) When I was at GF in Dec we were walking down those big stairs and I told my mom, this is where DJ and Kimmy walked! There was a GF CM behind us and he laughed and said.."full house fans too? we hear that all the time!"

Nice pics :)

I hated that part with Jesse and Joey in the bubble! I got so scared just looking at it. I guess even then I didn't like sea animals.

Curious to know, what is a baby shark called? And I know I can Google it, but it probably won't stick in my memory. There's a better chance of remembering it if you teach it to me!

Haha, what a job that woman has as Miss DeeVee Cee!

Where could you possibly go next??? Haha, you did more in one day than we did in our 3 park days!

Thanks for the report on Welcome Home Wednesday. I've wondered about trying to work that in one of our trips. It sounds like it could be fun if we were in the area so maybe one of these days.

That's a fun idea for the Bruce picture.

LOL, yeah we were getting so sick of her after a while. Her "dairy air" joke was kind of funny but ummm...we are not all farmers here in Wisconsin! I don't live anywhere near a farm and don't know anyone who does. Oh well, guess that's just what everyone thinks of when they hear WI.

The manatees are so cute. It's so sad how they are endangered. I read a story a while ago about how a lot of them were dying after FL had that cold spell earlier this year. :guilty:

She is definitely quite the character.:eek:

The Full House Disney episode is my FAVORITE! I've seen it too many times(:

haha, me too. You know it's bad when you can start quoting the show.

Yeah, WHW are cool. I don't know if we'd bother going to it every trip but it's worth checking out atleast once.

Me too. I would get so excited when they'd finally show the WDW ones. Is it sad that I could recognize that episode within the first 2 seconds? :rolleyes1

Ahh love Boy Meets World too. My sister just came home from school so we are going to have a BMW party sometime. haha

haha, nice! That is so funny that a CM overheard you guys talking about Full House.

Thanks for the compliment on the pics!

Ahh, I knew I should've posted the answers to the questions I remembered. A baby shark is called a pup! Easy to remember since it's just like a dog. The only question I got wrong was something about how many sharks are killed each year by humans. Well, it took me all 4 guesses to get it right. It was some astounding number like 10 million or something. :confused3:eek: Dad and I were both shocked when we saw that.

Thanks for the report on Welcome Home Wednesday. I've wondered about trying to work that in one of our trips. It sounds like it could be fun if we were in the area so maybe one of these days.

You're welcome. Yeah, if you are in the area it works out pretty nice.

Awesome updates! :thumbsup2 I love Full House too. I remember when I was younger and my grandparents were alive. They wanted all of us girls (my cousins and I) to marry "nice Greek boys." Um, bring on Uncle Jesse. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

haha, that's funny. That reminds me of that one episode (here I go again...) where it's Stephanie's birthday party and none of the boys will dance so Jesse tells them to pick a boy to dance with and they all want him. See, I am obsessed. :rolleyes1

I love my free Visa photo---I try to get one every trip!

Great updates. :)

I think I want to try and get one every trip now too. :thumbsup2

Wow Miss Dee Vee Cee is just a tad annoying. I can't imagine putting up with those antics for so long :scared1: I too love the Boardwalk area. It's just so calm and serene. Great updates :thumbsup2

Holy cow-you are cranking out the updates and I got behind!

I'm glad you got to have a DIS meet. I think it would be great fun to have one!

We were in Epcot this day!! We left around 4ish so you would've already been at WHW at BWV. Thanks for the info on that, we might try to get over there...will check the plans!
