"So what do you want to do next?" An April '10 TR...final thoughts 8/2 p. 63

Oh yay! I'm glad you got a picture of the windows in Liberty Square. When we were there, it was so crowded because they were closing off for the parade, so we were just quickly getting through it as fast as we could. I didn't get a chance to look at all the things I wanted to see from the Hidden Magic book. I wanted to get a pic of all those things to use for school purposes if I ever needed it! But woohoo because you got it!

OMG, the video of that dancing CM is the best! I love seeing CMs like that! I think that's why I love being a teacher too; I can dance whenever I want to! Haha, I sometimes dance when I'm waiting for a kid to answer a question (not if the kid is trying to figure it out but more so if the kid wasn't paying attention because it draws attention to the fact that he/she wasn't focusing because I have time to DANCE!). I also dance when I'm singing made-up-on-the-spot songs like, "Copy the diagram, copy the diagram!" Haha, it's funnier in person because from that song, my 6th graders decided to plan a musical with some of the common phrases that I say or that the kids say. Whoa. Tangent. Haha, sorry!

So you were dancing on the inside. What about your dad? Wisblue, were you boogying down too? :cool1:

I sat this one out and danced on the inside like Sarah. But, when I was there in January with Sarah's Mom and sister we saw this parade twice, and were out on the street joining the conga line. It was cooler then (upper 60's) so we didn't have to worry about working up a sweat.

The parade is so cute!= I really need to start making time for the daytime parades. Fun video, being in Disney always makes me want to dance a little more than usual :)

Great update!
I agree, that parade is very cute. I love the music to it!
Can't wait to read about your DIS meet

I have to admit, I enjoy the music too. :rolleyes1

Love that video! :cool1: who doesn't love to bust a move in public??

Thanks. I thought that CM was awesome. :thumbsup2

If we had gone during the same week, that might have been me dancing coming out of Adventureland :rotfl: I've seen the parade enough times in the past year to have learned all the moves!

haha, nice! I think it's amusing when people know the dance routines. I remember when we were at MNSSHP there was a girl who was singing and dancing along to that parade too.

One "hidden treasure" you didn't mention is the brown "stream" running down the middle of the street through Liberty Square. I'll let you explain what that is.

Somewhere in here we used those FP's for Peter Pan. I can't remember if we did that before or after the parade.

Oh yeah, how could I forget about that?

As for the "stream"...isn't that supposed to be the "waste" that people through out their windows?

Great pictures of the castle show and the parade! We saw that parade last June and my son was busting a move with King Louie. I don't know how they dance in those costumes in the heat of summer though!

I have that hidden treasures book too. I want to write some of them down on notecards before our June trip so we can find some of them. I do know about the brown "stream" going through...:rotfl:

Aww, cool your son joined in on the fun. You are right, I couldn't imagine dancing in those costumes in the summer unless they have air conditioning in them.

That is what my dad did. He read it and wrote down a bunch of stuff in a notebook that he carried with him in the parks. It's a fun way to spend the time when the parks are crowded or you don't want to do any of the attractions. :thumbsup2

Great parade pics and cute video!:thumbsup2 My boys were out in the street dancing last year, they had such a fun time!! It really is a cute parade/street party. It's funny because last year we saw that parade 3 times but this year we didn't even hear it and we were at MK all day.:confused3

Oh...and you're right that song does stick with you all day!!:laughing:

Thanks! I knew I had to share that video because that CM was just too funny to watch. They probably figure they might as well join in on the fun if they're there every day. Heck, I probably would.

The funny part is it's just the beginning part that plays over and over and over in my head.

Ok, I seriously thought I replied to your TR but I guess I didn’t! Well, so sorry! I’ve got a lot to catch up on so here I go!

I love your cliffhangers!! Really got me thinking! LOL!!

Airport drama, not fun huh? I’m always worried also that our flights will get cancelled. And you’re totally right about the airlines not really telling you the whole story! Boo about being delayed an hour! At least it was only an hour and your flight wasn’t cancelled but still…booo!!

I’ve never had Chick-fil-A before. We don’t have that in Hawaii and I’ve just never tried it! But glad you folks go to have it. LOL! But boo about not having Harry Potter things there! I didn’t even think to look!

I just love pictures of the WDW gate! It’s sooo magical! LOL! Yay for your “private coach” to AKL! So cool! Yay for birthday buttons even though it wasn’t your actual birthday but who says you can’t celebrate it a little late? I love the hidden Mickey’s in the carpet!!

Love the pics from the parade. That parade is super cute! The animals are sooo creative!! Great pics from the Safari but boo that people weren’t being respectful! So frustrating huh? Yay about Expedition Everest! That wait time doesn’t seem long at all for a peak season! Boo about Dinosaur! Stay tuned to my TR to hear our experience about Dinosaur!

Wow! Can’t believe you folks got up that early for MK! And it was still dark out! I agree about traveling with a smaller group! They’re always looking for 2 people to fill in the spaces! That happened to us a couple times also! Yay for surprise FPs!! I am also one to follow the rules and not take any flash pictures!! LOL! Yay for the Move it Shake it Celebrate it parade!

Well, can’t wait to read more!! Wooohoo!!

That's alright, glad you are back! I can't wait to read your TR. popcorn::

We don't have any Chick-Fil-As here anymore either. It's more of a southern thing I guess which stinks. It's so good!

That's right...that's exactly what the CM told us when we were checking in. She said as long as we were celebrating! haha Plus, who can pass up a free gift? :thumbsup2

Oooh...now you have me curious about what happened to you guys at Dinosaur. Hmmmm.

Great update!

I love Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! And I totally dragged my sister out into the street to dance with me last summer. It was like us and a bunch of little kids and a couple parents. But it was totally worth it. I can NEVER resist a good dance party!

That is what I should've done in August with my sister. haha Maybe on our next trip.

The parade looks like fun! I've never stopped to actually watch it. I think we may give it a try this trip. And maybe I can find that poor CM so someone will dance with her:laughing:

You should see it. It's a lot of fun. :thumbsup2

We love Move It Shake It parade. We watched it on our Mardi Gras trip last year shortly after it started. Sam totally ran into the street to dance with Goofy. We had a blast!

Aww, glad you guys enjoyed the parade when you saw it. Sounds like you had a fun experience.

Well, if you want to keep that picture for possible school purposes, feel free to use it!

I think it is so fun to see CMs enjoying their job. Of course, how could you not enjoy your job when you work at DISNEY WORLD?!?!

haha, love the stories from school!

OK, how did I not know about this? This is why Claire needs to finish her TR. I didn't know you guys saw the acrobats in China either.

The parade is so cute!= I really need to start making time for the daytime parades. Fun video, being in Disney always makes me want to dance a little more than usual :)

We usually don't see the parades either. I'm usually fine with just seeing it once but we were able to see I think every parade this trip!

OK, how did I not know about this? This is why Claire needs to finish her TR. I didn't know you guys saw the acrobats in China either.

Maybe I should finish Claire's report if she isn't going to do it. When we got home I made a quick list of what we did each day to help her out.

Awesome update! Great pictures.

I'm reading that same book right now....with highlight pen in hand! :lmao: I never noticed the crooked windows before but next trip, I plan to keep my eyes peeled for all sorts of good stuff!

Hey Sarah, I'm back and all caught up!

We found that the first couple of early hours were great when we went Christmas week as well - you can get so much done while everyone else is still sleeping! :thumbsup2

Thank you for being a rule follower when it comes to the 'no flash photography' thing - nothing ruins a dark ride more than someone's flash going off over and over again.......

Cool! I read it twice and highlighted stuff then my dad read it and took his notes. hehe

Hey Sarah! As always, great update! Loving the report and your pictures are awesome! :thumbsup2

Thanks! Glad you like the pictures. :)

Welcome back! Hope you had a good time. :thumbsup2

We did EMH after Christmas and it was great then too. The parks usually get PACKED in the afternoon so it's nice to be heading out when so many people are just getting started. I can't imagine waiting so long and only being able to do a couple attractions.

haha, you are welcome, though I do have to admit I think there was one time on IASW I took some flash pictures...but usually I am too afraid to. :rolleyes1

Whoops--I originally posted in the wrong TR that i was signing on board...what I meant to say in this TR was comment on the talking/blinking mickey mouse! See the hazards of reading more than one TR at a time!! haha!! That video of the talking mickey was AMAZING, i can't wait to experience it myself!

Great TR so far!! Super fun to read, and i can't believe how much you guys got done at MK that morning!!

haha, I know what you mean, one of these days I am going to do that with all the TRs I am subscribed to. :rolleyes1 The talking Mickey is pretty sweet. How cool for those people to get to experience it!

Great TR so far!! Super fun to read, and i can't believe how much you guys got done at MK that morning!!

Thanks! Glad you are enjoying it so far. We did get a TON done in just a few hours. :thumbsup2

Good parade pictures! I only caught the end of it during our March trip, but it looks like a cute one.

Can't wait to hear about your first DIS meet! :)

Wednesday, April 7, 2010 cont'd (part 5)

OMGoodness, I'm sorry I am dragging this out so long, I can't believe I'm not even halfway through our first day yet. You're probably all thinking get on with it already! Thanks for sticking with me though. :)

Continuing on with our MK morning...

After the Move it Shake it Celebrate it parade we backtracked toward Liberty Square to do the Haunted Mansion. I forgot that this had happened but Dad mentioned how at first HM was down so we skipped over it. Now was the time to do it! The wait was the typical 13 minutes...in other words, not long at all. While we were waiting to enter I saw something kind of random in line. There were a ton of high school aged kids around who were obviously there with their school band. Well, this one dude had a deck of cards and asked this other girl if she wanted to see a card trick. She said yes so he began doing this "trick" where he had to find her card. You're probably wondering why I am mentioning this and honestly, I really don't know why other than it was just strange! I guess that is one way to pass the time in line. LOL!

After the stretching room scene Dad told us we should stay behind to see if we could hear the talking gargoyles (another thing we read about in the Hidden Magic book). No such luck. One other comment about the line here was I don't think I've ever seen it so backed up waiting to get into the doom buggies. It was actually kind of chaotic. :confused3 Oh well. The ride was good as usual and kind of creepy. haha

On the way out I had to find another hidden treasure: the Mr. Toad statue in the pet cemetery!! Dad told me he had spotted it in January so he wasn't going to tell me where it was. It took me a while to find it but I finally noticed him waaaay in the back of the cemetery. See him? It's that dark blob next to the bricks.

24977_634447510144_20305212_36665479_210547_n.jpg

All the other pet graves were white whereas Toad was dark. Sneaky. But a fun tribute to the old ride. I miss Mr. Toad's Wild Ride (more reason to go back to Disneyland...).

Since we had been up so early we were ready for lunch. I forgot to mention that on the way into the park they were handing out coupons for 20% off an entree or something at a few restaurants. Well, we couldn't let those go to waste so we ended up eating at the Columbia Harbor House, somewhere we surprisingly have never eaten before! When we were done eating, Dad asked me what I wanted to do (haha!) and I told him I was still planning on meeting Rachel (RachelNinja). I am still convinced that Rachel is like my DIS twin or something. LOL! No seriously, we have a lot in common: we are both the same age, both teachers, and are not ashamed to admit we like High School Musical and David Archuleta. :rotfl: When we realized we were going to be in WDW at the same time we started talking about possibly meeting up. As it turned out we were going to be at the MK on the same day. Woo hoo!! We had planned on meeting after lunchtime so Dad and I ended up going over to Tomorrowland so we could ride the People Mover. I thought we could do the ride and then I could give Rachel a call and see what they were up to.

Well, she must've called while we were on the ride (and I am NOT one who is very tuned in to my cell phone ) because when we got off I had a new voice mail! I remember her saying that they had just finished up IASW and were heading over to the Haunted Mansion (haha, Rachel, we must've just missed each other there!). I gave her a call back but got HER voice mail. Boo phone tag. Dad suggested we head back over to Liberty Square since that's where they were going to be. And since the parade was going to be starting shortly we found a spot near the boat dock to watch.

Love the colors of this float!

24977_634447540084_20305212_36665483_5205267_n.jpg

Shortly after the parade started, Rachel called back. I told her where we were so they could try and find us. As soon as I hung up I realized I should've said what I was wearing or something. I thought it was SO funny when she came up to me and said she spotted my Vera Bradley bag and knew it was me. :rotfl: Good thing I posted that on my PTR. It was very exciting finally meeting a DISer! TWO DISers to be exact. Rachel was there with her boyfriend Howard (HowWeird) as well as her younger brother Matthew and mom. We started talking about how our trips were going so far while we watched the parade. Though I don't know how much of the parade I saw since there were a ton of people standing in all of the planters. LOL. Hmm, don't know if that makes a good place to stand, but whatever.

When the parade was over Rachel and her family were planning on going over to Frontierland and asked if we wanted to ride Thunder Mountain. We are not ones to pass up a ride on one of our favorites so of course we said yes! It was a little bit nuts trying to get over there though with all of the people at the end of the parade...I think we nearly lost each other a couple times.

While we were walking over to BTMRR I started talking to Rachel's mom. She was so sweet and started asking me how often we go to WDW. I told her we are DVC members so we go atleast once a year. :thumbsup2

Since Rachel had a Guest Assistance Card for five people, we were able to all ride together (her mom wasn't planning on riding) and skip waiting in line. So that was pretty cool. After our ride Howard (aka Weird, and no, that is not my name for him, haha) took our picture. Maybe Rachel can post that? :upsidedow We all enjoyed the ride and continued heading toward Splash Mountain. Since we Dad and I had done pretty much the whole park we decided it was time to head out. I think Matt was debating whether or not to do SM so we were trying to convince him he should. We don't know what the verdict was so I am VERY curious to read about that in Rachel's TR. popcorn:: So we said our good-byes and continued on our separate ways.

I have to say it was SO nice meeting you and your family, Rachel (even if it was brief)! I wish we could've spent more time together but THANK YOU for letting us use your GAC. I'm glad we were able to get together after our phone tag. hehe

Oh, and for those of you who aren't reading her TR, here's the link:

As was expected for mid-afternoon, the crowds were starting to build up. One last shot of the castle: such a great view near CP/Casey's!

I know we briefly stopped in the Emporium before continuing on our long day. Where would we go next? Hint: think flowers and lots of them. ;)

Good parade pictures! I only caught the end of it during our March trip, but it looks like a cute one.

Can't wait to hear about your first DIS meet! :)

Thanks! It is a fun parade. :thumbsup2

Oh my goodness! I used to love Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. It was like my favorite thing ever when I was younger. I always wanted to sit up front so that I could pretend to drive. And my parents would "heckle" me for "my" terrible driving. It was always good times. I miss it a lot. :sad1:

And you've never experienced the madness that is queuing up to get into the doombuggies before? You are lucky. It seems like every time I ride HM, it's a mad house. My sister and I always link arms so we don't get separated in all of the pushing and shoving. We've tried to hang back a bit, but even that's next to impossible when the herd of people rushes to empty out of the Stretching Room. It's so intense that by the time we finally get settled into our doombuggie I need a nap.

Your DIS meet-up sounds like fun. It's gotta be really cool to meet up with other DISers "in the wild". :rotfl:

How fun was that video? I am totally the CM that would be moving it, shaking it and celebrating it!

So, did he find her card?

I like your blob picture. :rotfl: Now that I know roughly where it is, I'm going to put that on the list of pictures to get.

Isn't that push-fest to get on a doom buggy insane? I remember commenting to George on our last trip that they realllly need to revamp that. Everyone just merging together to file into a single line is nuts. :crowded:

How cool you had a DIS meet!

I had read about the random discounts offered when you were there, how fun that you got to use it at CHH. I have always enjoyed the soup and sandwiches here. I hate it when there are so many people waiting to get on the doom buggies too, I wish they would just have you wait outside instead.

Fun, a Dis meet, with a ride on BTMRR too.

Did you go to EPCOT next? You said you had a Long day...........:rolleyes1

Wow I love DIS meets! So cool that you got to meet up with Rachel...it's so fun to finally meet someone who you talk to so often on here. It's like a little family of friends :goodvibes

Isn't Columbia Harbor House so yummy? We ate there when we were on the Keys to the Kingdom tour and we loved it! :thumbsup2
