So what do you think of the D.A pins so far?

I got a few and was surprised at how nice they are. I hope they fix some of the problems with the way they list them... But so far I like the pins.

I like them too. Not as big as the LE 100 DA pins but the quality is just as good.

The pins are fine, if you can get them!
I refuse to sit on the PINS site 24/7, and I refuse to buy the pins from the secondary market. Life is too short to hassle over a $12 pin!

I bought several during the *big* weekend the end of last month/beginning of this month.
I received all I ordered and am happy with them.
But I agree with JamesD.
I don't have the luxury of doing nothing all day but checking to see if DA is selling a few pins.
And if I can't buy several at a time, I don't think the shipping costs are worth it when you just buy one or two.
If I can't buy them easier or trade for them, I will just pass.

The pins I received were very nice and I was lucky enough to get a few for myself and my daughter, so we split the shipping, but the nicer ones were scooped up immediately and I have to agree that I can't sit on the computer all day and wait for them to be released, 3 or 4 at a time. I read that more would be coming within a week or so but so far, none have shown up. Do you think Disney does these things to torment those of us who don't have access to the parks on a regular basis? That would be downright mean.........

I have seen alot of threads on this topic on a few different boards. Could someone fillme in? Whats the website? and are they special pins only available thru DA? Which I assume means Disney Auctions..right? I will keep looking but any info would be helpful.
Thanks.
Lori

I have always liked Disney Auctions pins since I found their regular site, a long, long time ago, back before it was really all that well-known, and when it was fairly easy to win an auction at the starting price of the pin. Even though some of their pins are "simple" or "plain" a lot of their offerrings are just exceptionally creative--for example, both Halloween sets from 2001 and 2002 are wonderful, and are still very hard to trade for and still expensive on e***.

So, that being said, I am just as thrilled with these pins so far. I was very successful in the beginning, and not successful at all this past week, since they changed how they are putting them up. I won 13 auctions in the first batch, and I don't have cable--slow dial-up! But last night, trying to win Jack and Sally, no matter how many times I tried I couldn't win one. I was able to see the pin come up, and at one time it came up with 11 available, but still couldn't get one. There must be just toooo many people trying to win these pins. I think if they were releasing them at different (random) times of the day, we might have a better chance.

But, I love the concept, and I love the pins, and I will keep trying!

LORI IN NY......sent you an email with links

About the PINS auctions. Basically what they have been doing daily is this:
The release one pin , LE 250 , in groups of 30, every 15 minutes starting at 6pm EST every day. What you end up doing is F5 the page until you finally see the auction....but sometimes by time you get into it, HIT BUY IT NOW, the auction is sold out. The only keys I can suggest are to have a high speed connection, a good computer, already signed into Ebay, (and have your password at the ready with CONTROL+C, because some people, altho signed in, have to reenter their Ebay password), and just go for the one in the quantity box already entered. If you take the time to change the quantity you usually lose out.

Is it all worth it? For the RIGHT pin, I suppose.

I have been caught up in the excitement of being able to use BIN on auction pins.

I have bought quite a few....although even with cable at home and high-speed network access at work, it's not always easy! :p But that is definitely part of the fun!

I think I've seen more NBC pins that I'll need for this lifetime, so I hope there will be some new themes soon. But DS#1 has two new Goofys, and DS#2 has two new Donalds, so they're happy. And I have the Belle in the red cape, which is one sharp looking pin! :D

I definitely have some to trade, so feel free to take a look at my pinpics trade list.

I got a few in the first round but haven't been obsessing on the rest.

I did the Halloweeen and NBC pins, which now seem like they are endless. I will look occasionally but after the initial fever I have backed off a bit.

The pins are really nice, big but not huge so the look good next to regular pins.

As with others, I got a few the first weekend and haven't seen them since. I guess they are listing others, but they are going very fast. The only improvement in the web site is that once their gone, the auction is gone and you really don't see what you missed. Maybe good maybe bad. I vote bad, because then you know what to look for if you really want to. Otherwise you have to rely on Pinpics to store them accurately.

My opinion is that Disney will see that this is doing well and then all of sudden they'll flood the market with these pins and people will start buying lower quality and/or less desirable pins thinking that can use them to trade for the more popular. Since the more popular pins are being grabbed by those that are re-sellers or people who already have good pins they won't trade and people will then be upset, get frustrated and it will loose its luster. Yea, kind of a sour note, but history does tend to repeat itself.

I change my mind... I really don't like the format they are useing to sell them and only those with a very fast connection and time to sit by the f5 button have a shot. I have a cable modem and the few times I have tried to get a pin... They sell out in 10 seconds.

I agree Scott. It may just turn out to be a bad thing for trading as it will only be a few who have the many...

I like a man who can step up to the plate and admit he made a mistake. I'm, again, disappointed in how Disney is handling another "pin" situation. I've backed off collecting over the last ten months but, with an upcoming trip, was starting to get excited all over again. This has put a damper on my excitement.
